I think it's more of a nice to have, but not compulsory. You could make your own card, or you can do a search for these cards online. There are shops which specializes in customized cards. My friend told me there's a formal way of asking your friends to be your 姐妹 for your wedding. By giving them a something like "Would you be my bridesmaid?" card. Anyone knows where to make this card from?
Thanks in advance!
To each his own! Maybe a small customized gift to thank them for their time and effort after your big day?I feel so paisey, all that I did was to ask them casually over whatsapp. D: I think I ought to bring them out for a meal and ask them properly again.

@bluepaperrose - A handmade gift is a nice idea! I think I'll get them a card / bracelet or something and ask all the bridesmaids out for a meal. They all know each other but I have one bridesmaid who's from a different clique so it'll be a good chance to get to know them better before the bachelorette party / actual day.
@octobride - Personally, we've all been friends for almost a decade, so I think they're all very easygoing. But I think I will indeed do a formal get-together some months before the wedding. After the wedding is a bit tougher because we'll be going on our honeymoon and once we return, my friends have overseas holiday plans as well.

Pondering the rate and when to give as well. I think there's no hard and fast rule, but it should also depend on how much you're spending on their clothes, what kind of bachelorette party they threw for you (if they paid for everything, I guess the angbao should be bigger?) and how much they've done to help you in the wedding.
For myself, I don't know what the bachelorette party will be like, but I won't be doing gate crashing so that's one big load off from their shoulders. No church wedding either, so they only need to be around from 2.30pm to end of the banquet. This is what I'm planning to give:
Gowns:
Bridesmaid: $80 - $100
MoH: $100 - $150
Angbao:
Bridesmaid: $150
MoH: $200
Bridesmaid (+emcee): $250 - $300
Sounds fair? I don't know if it's too little. I think I might give the angbao to them at the end of the ceremony because they'll probably be running around the whole day so I'm scared that they may misplace the angbao. : / Then again, how do people usually do this? Lol.
Pretty fair rate.. Hmm don't mind me asking but how many bridesmaid do u have?@bluepaperrose - A handmade gift is a nice idea! Actually I've thought about that too. I'm most likely going to have 3 bridesmaid for Wedding whereas HTB will have 5 brothers.
