(2015) 2015 brides??

Alyoop, u really did that?! Whoa! Then both parties meet directly at the hotel? No need to light long-feng candles as well?
Yup, that's our final plan. Best man will come pick us and our helpers up then drive everyone to hotel. Nope no candles. The only tradition we will have is the tea ceremony. And I don't even know what the candles are for! Hahaha.

Will still be taking pre wed shoot although i didnt really want it.
And not doing all the gate crashing etc... my HTB and i checking in to hotel 1 day before :p
Why didn't you want it? For us, we can't bring ourselves to be serious and do poses for proper photoshoot, so it will probably end up super awkward. Our AD photographer seems to do it as part of his usual AD routine so might as well have a few non-candid photos.

We thought about checking in a day earlier too but my parents are old fashioned and they will go berserk about it, so we scraped that idea =(

Both my HTB and i are not the photography posey kind of people.. i did tell my BS coordinator the same thing hahahah so they allocated to me a photographer who does more candid kind of shots rather than posed ones... heh.

Thank you for all the responses! My HTB n i are not those who like to take photos so we r thinking of scraping the idea of pre wed shots.. alyooop, if i m not wrong, the lighting of candles signifies that both families accepting the newly added member to the family.. so i guess it is good to follow that as it is the tradition?

Finally, someone like us! Haha... Yeah, I had to source for those "journalistic" photographers so we'd get the candid photos.

Oh icic. Both our families are not particular about these rituals so we're fine without. If both sides have no idea about it then it won't be meaningful to us even if we follow blindly, at least that's how we feel. If it's important to your families I'm sure it's not too difficult to fit it in somewhere? I'm assuming it doesn't take up a lot of time..?

Hahahaaa... the problem is, i m gg out from hotel instead of from parent's house.... and i have no idea where to light the candles.. my HTB has no problem as he is gg out from his parent's house.. :'(

You're still doing the fetching right? I'm not quite sure how it goes typically, is it supposed to be lit after the tea ceremonies with your family and his family? So for your family the tea ceremony will be at the hotel right? Are your parents particular about lighting the candles at home and not at the hotel?

It is supposed to be lit when both the bride n groom are going to change into their AD outfit before fetching of bride. Not sure anyone light the candles in the hotel.

Hi there! Congrats on your wedding! :)
I am also a June 2015 btb!

Hmm for bridal studios, depends a lot on your budget. I am with Silhouette. Lovely lovely gowns! Their lacework is intricately done and really so beautiful! I love their gowns personally. Classy, elegant and not too drama.

My second choice was Ted Wu. On the slightly pricier side (like Silhouette). The good thing about Ted Wu is I think Ted himself (the designer) attends to you, especially if you get his MTM gowns and he is one who makes sure he designs a gown that flatters the bride. Also known for his intricate beadwork. I tried a few of their gowns. Very stunning as well.

From the bridal magazines that I have read, Calla and Divine Couture look like they have beautiful gowns too.

If you have the time and energy, you can go down to the Tanjong Pagar stretch and just walk in, try on a couple of gowns and check out their packages. That stretch has soooo many studios!

Enjoy the search for your perfect gown! It is quite fun; I enjoyed myself thru the hunt. haha ;)

Seems like quite a few BTBs have interest in GCW! Me too booked there for AD. My ROM is march 2015, AD is oct 2015. I booked village hotel changi for ROM dinner. Good thing is their food is halal and I can invite my muslim friends then instead of AD dinner, can save a bit of money hee.

Now that I'm about 4 months to my ROM, I'm slightly panicking. Can BTBs share what do you ladies do/prepare for ROM?

Hi Rachelyn, my ROM is at ROM so I'm pretty relaxed. A few things I will be doing is to get wedding bands, wedding shoes, maybe a ROM photographer, remember to do manicure before ROM. Seriously can't comment much since I'm doing at ROM.

was planning 2015 ROM then 2016 banquet. or beginning of 2016 ROM+banquet.

the "in-laws" dropped a bomb suddenly saying that year 2016 will clash with my SO's horoscope and strictly do not allow us to get married in 2016. angst.

i'm like, so what now?
cannot rush for 2015 banquet, cos we can't find any "auspicious dates" yet, and the hotel we want is already booked on some of the dates we prefer.
wait until 2017??
my house is gonna be ready by end 2015! so no matter what we need to ROM by 2015. n banquet to delay by 2 years? (which my parents don't wish, cos they find it weird to delay the banquet for so long)

Wana try finding Master Long to help you calculate date? He usually give 3 years worth of dates (2014, 2015, 2016)..then you can find a better date.

I agree with the rest... do everything in 2015 then. It's a little weird to wait so long also.

Maybe do the same day as your ROM day? that should be an auspicious day also right?

officially 2015 bride! abit rush for my date, 18th July 2015 :) anybody got any bridal shop to recommend?? just for actual day.. taking PS in taiwan next year march! so excited

ROM day is on a weekday, so not very convenient to do banquet and tea ceremony on the same day..

if wanna do everything on the same day (weekend), also can.. but the two hotels we want are booked for most of the weekend dates nearing year-ends le.. may have to settle for a hotel we don't like as much.

anyone heard of iSnap photography? their rates are very affordable! but also makes me wonder why is it that cheap when other photographers are kinda ex :/

Hi there! I'm not a 2015 BTB but an August 2014 bride... Was trying to leave some testimonials for some of the great wedding vendors I had and I came across your question, Traciee... Not sure if anyone else has answered since it's been a while since you posted it up but I did engage in iSnap's services for pre-wedding photoshoot as well as AD PG and VG. Haha, I can't explain why their services are cheaper than others but I can honestly tell you that my hubby and I are really glad we signed up with them. They're really good and professional and we love their services. They arrive for each shoot much earlier than appointed just so they can scout the area and get a better feel of the venue and lighting. What's more impressive is their initiative to go beyond what's in the contract. For example, our pre-wedding photoshoot was set as 4 hours (excluding time needed to change gowns or travel to different venues or simply for breaks) - we had an evening+night shoot and making sure no one cons us of the promised time allocated, I kept track of the timing of the shoot but lo and behold, iSnap exceeded those 4 hours by shooting us an extra 1-2 hours and did not charge us any extra fees. More impressively, it was already 1+ AM and they still asked us if there's anywhere else we would like to shoot since they still have some space left in their memory card! We were really pleased when we got our photos and we knew we didn't have to worry about the AD PG/VG quality anymore. Prior to our AD, we were politely reminded by our church pastor to request the PG/VG team to not be so intrusive especially during the solemnization session and ring-exchanging session - we too have noted at friends' weddings how some PG/VG will "conveniently" block everyone's views (even between the couple and the solemnizer!) just to get the perfect shot of the rings etc. Somehow we forgot to tell iSnap this (wedding prep can get really busy and make one forgetful, haha!) but thankfully, we barely noticed their presence (totally not intrusive) and when we look back at the photos and videos, we wonder how they manage to get such good shots even from a distance away...

Hope you BTBs have a great time planning for your weddings and more importantly, your marriages. If anyone wants any feedback from a bride who just dealt with all the wedding prep stuff just a couple of months back, feel free to drop me a message!

Oh, and for those who may be curious how iSnap's photos/videos may turn up to be, feel free to check out the videos on our YouTube channel. Just a disclaimer that only the wedding morning express highlights video is a direct upload from iSnap's end product. The wedding morning thank you speech and banquet dinner highlights videos are self-edited using Windows Live Movie Maker but utilizing footages from the videos that iSnap shot so the quality of these two videos as appearing on YouTube aren't as great as compared to the actual videos itself. The pre-wedding photoshoot video is also self-made but using the photos from iSnap so quality of video on YouTube isn't as great similarly. Childhood montage and honeymoon videos are self-made and none of the shots are from iSnap. Here's our YouTube channel link:

Can try Prologue pictures, personally tried it. We had no idea the photos will turned out to be so beautiful and creative. We fully trusted them and leave the angling decisions to the experts haha.. was glad the end product was something we were proud of. Price is a bit premium though. They had other good reviews on ************** as well.

I think if you tell them you need it by a certain date, it can still be done.

I had my taiwan shoot on 20/10/14 and am now in my album layout edits. My AD is on 10/01/15 so can imagine how rushed it is. Haha.

I took mine with Happiness Studio which I can say they are really excellent and friendly from make up artist to photographer and even lighting assistant. MUA follows you out with no extra charges and the whole package is even cheaper then other studios found in Taiwan.
