Hilton will be holding their wedding showcase next year on 16 Jan 14.

I met up with June to discuss about wedding lunch. I prefer panorama room than vista room, because it is at the 24th floor, with window view.
 
Hi All, i am considering.Hilton for my wedding dinner. Anyone just held their wedding and attended wedding recently? How is their service, food etc? Is June good?
 
Hi @angelonearth, panorama room. Theme wise still considering Love's Purity or Midsummer’s Dreams? Love's purity has this refreshing feel to it and with the sunlight shining in, will brightened up the room. However midsummer is more dreamy kind.

When is your wedding date?
Mag, I am a November 2014 bride :) I dont know what theme to choose yet. It was mid summer dreams at first , which I felt its plain after thinking again. Now I'm leaning towards Love's Purity but the tables are all white. I dont want the whole room to look plain.:(

I think the table cloth can either be white or gold. If you think its plain looking, you can go for the gold table cloth.
As for the stage design, for love purity is plain and clean look (white lily and green apple). Whereas for midsummer dream, there is a bridal floral arch (like a big centrepiece) which seems much more magnificent compare to love purity.

I am taking the Vista Room so there is a screen projector right at the stage. If I choose the mid summer theme, the screen projector will be the big centerpiece :( with the 2 floral arcs beside it. Sounds depressing enough :( . where are the screen projectors at Panaroma room?

two built-in projectors are drop-down projectors attached to our ceiling. The two screens are placed at the side of the stage and at the very end of Panorama room respectively.

So there will be no blockage. :)

oh i see! That's great! :) The guests' chairs only come in white by the way :( Or we can choose gold table cloth with white chairs you mean? Have you chosen your menu?
 
I think the guests' chairs only come in white. However the table cloths we can pick either white or gold, not sure if it apply to red tables only or both red and guests tables.

I will be going food tasting 2 weeks later.

What food have you chosen? I have tried the zhejiang pork ribs But didn't like it

Hello, just wondering if anybody has experience w the snacks they serve during the cocktail party? What is recommended? They have too many variety to choose from and exp
 
I am considering to get canapes from Hilton for my actual day as well.
Would consider the hot canape rather than the cold, as there are elderly around.

Appetizers:
Crispy white bait fish - awesome. Everyone love it. crunchy
Breaded Bacon Prawn Roll - a little strong bacon smell. But family said its normal.
Marinated Jellyfish sprinkled with sesame seeds - ok only. not that fantastic. decide to keep it since it a common dish during wedding
Spiral Pasta with marinated baby squid - strong taste of maggi mee ketchup. pasta and baby squid do not match well. Decided to change it to california maki roll
Organic Prawns with lime mayonnaise - Fresh crunchy prawn. Lime juice not over powering. - great dish

Broth: Braised Seafood with Fried Fish Maw Soup
Taste the same of sharkfin. Lots of crab meat. The seasonings used are just the right amount.

Prawns: Poached Live Prawns with Inako Miso Soup
Delicious soup based - salty but nice. some of my family think its very salty.
Do not expect tiger prawn. Medium size prawn are served.
There is a water bowl with lemon available for rinsing your finger per table.


Fish: Live Garoupa in Hong Kong Style

Normal. love the crunchy spring onion used with the fish.

Meat: Roasted Crispy Chicken in Chef's signature sauce
Very little signature sauce placed at the base of the plate.
Some parts of the chicken are salty.
The sauce is little spicy (based on our opinion)

Noodles: Ee-fu Noodles with Yellow Chives and Shimeiji Mushrooms

Very smooth noodles. No starchy taste.
However, too much oil is used.

Dessert: Chilled Cream of Mango with Pomelo and Sago
Delicious.

Oh, there is a bottle of wine served during our food tasting.

Oh at the end of the food tasting, you will be able to meet the chef and feedback on the dishes.

Hi Mag, hope they can do your chosen dishes better on your luncheon. I heard the dishes served during the food tasting will be better than the actual day as it is not easy to get the right taste for mass cooking.

Only the first 2 dishes? Oh NO...:confused: Nothing in between?
By the way, how much does it cost for the 5 trays of canapes? I thought my guests will be hungry after my solemnization so at least they can have some food during the cocktail session while waiting for me to get changed.
Are you having your solemnization before your actual day? Now I headache about squeezing the tea ceremony and solemnization before the luncheon.
 
Because you will need to entertain your guest and you will have any chances of eating.

But no worries, the kitchen will be keeping two portion of food and serve you after luncheon in your suite.

Each canapes cost $75. there are 25pcs per tray.

Solemnization will be before the luncheon (same date as actual day) held in the function room. Tea ceremony will be done after the luncheon in the same function room.
 
Mag, where do I find info about the canapes? I look high and low for it but to no avail. Where can I choose the variety from?

Oh, you are having the tea ceremony last! I may be doing the tea ceremony first with my kua, followed by solemnization with my tea dress and then luncheon with my wedding gown. I wonder if I have so much time to squeeze everything together and keep changing my outfits :p
 
Hi angelonearth, as per attached is the cocktail menu from hilton.

My tea ceremony will be after the luncheon. And solemnization will be before luncheon. Both side parents are ok with this arrangement.

According to June from Hilton, Hilton Famous Mini cheese cake is one of the best.

I didn't taste any of the items, but pick based on feel.
