The Wedding Feast: Living Capsule Styled Shoot

In the third chapter of The Wedding Feast series at The SingaporeBrides Wedding Fair, floral artists Larry and Jophia from FLOUR reimagine traditional wedding florals with The Living Capsule—a poetic, kinetic installation that captures the ever-evolving nature of love.

Gone are the days when wedding florals were just beautiful backdrops. In the third installment of The Wedding Feast series at The SingaporeBrides Wedding Fair in February, Larry and Jophia breathe movement and meaning into the art of floral design with The Living Capsule and The Whispering Garden. Inspired by the constant evolution of love, these captivating installations challenge tradition and invite couples into a sensory, story-rich experience. We spoke with the duo from FLOUR to uncover the vision, challenges, and dreamlike beauty behind the concept, and how it can be reimagined for a truly unforgettable wedding celebration.

The Wedding Feast: Living Capsule Styled Shoot

In the third of the Wedding Feast series you created for The SingaporeBrides Wedding Fair, you focused on a Living Capsule. Please tell us more about how this concept came about.

Larry and Jophia: First, we would like to thank SingaporeBrides for having us again, it is such an honour to be part of this series. The Living Capsule was inspired by breaking the norm of stationary floral displays. Traditionally, floral arrangements are static, but we wanted to challenge that by incorporating movement, just like how time never stands still. The concept mirrors love and relationships, which are always evolving. We wanted the installation to feel alive, reflecting the ever-changing nature of life and love.

Tell us about the design of the concept area. Were there challenges that you faced?

The concept area featured two key installations: The Living Capsule and The Whispering Garden.

The Living Capsule had floral displays mounted on rotating mechanisms, introducing movement and transformation. This challenged the idea of florals as purely decorative and stationary. The biggest challenge was engineering fluid movement while maintaining the integrity of the arrangements.

The Whispering Garden was an immersive floral installation with infinity mirrors, creating a dreamlike, reflective space. The mirrors expanded depth, making the florals appear infinite and reinforcing love’s boundless nature. A key challenge was designing the space with minimal visual disruptions to maintain its immersive effect.

Who did you work with for the styled shoot, and how does it capture the meaning of the concept?

The shoot had an editorial wedding feel, echoing the concept through every detail. Each vendor played a crucial role in bringing the vision to life.

On Staging Singapore played a key role in executing the vision by handling production details and carpentry. Their expertise ensured that the space was not only structurally sound but also seamlessly integrated with the design, making it feel purposeful and immersive for the wedding fair.

Iluminen Singapore and Iluminen focused on storytelling, ensuring that every shot conveyed the emotional depth and movement of the installations; The Ivory Bridal curated fashion pieces that complemented the dreamlike aesthetic. Airin from ARLY crafted beauty looks that enhanced the ethereal quality of the shoot;

Together, they strengthened and beautified the concept, making it a fully immersive experience. The interplay of light, reflections, and movement reinforced the message that love is not static, it grows and evolves. Their artistic approach translated the installations into a visual story, capturing both the movement of The Living Capsule and the immersive nature of The Whispering Garden.

How would you recreate this concept for a couple who would like it incorporated into their wedding theme?

For a couple drawn to this concept, we would personalise it to reflect their story. The rotating floral installation could be scaled up or down, pushing floral design boundaries and creating a living, moving sculpture within the wedding space.

The Whispering Garden could be adapted as an interactive guest experience, where couples and loved ones step into an infinity floral installation, creating a symbolic, immersive memory. It could also be woven into the ceremony, with vows or love notes placed within the florals, evolving throughout the celebration.

Ultimately, the goal is to create a wedding environment that feels alive, one that mirrors the couple’s journey, unfolding in beautiful, unexpected ways.
