Janice and Founder of NBCB Tommy’s Nostalgic Post-Wedding Shoot With Korea Artiz Studio

Janice and Tommy embarked on a second wedding shoot six years after saying “I do” with Korea Artiz Studio.

When Janice, 37, Sales Professional, and Tommy (@tommynbcb), 38, Content Creator and Founder of NBCB, first got to know each other on Facebook through a mutual friend years ago, they talked online for a month before agreeing to meet in person. During their dating era, Tommy gradually realised that Janice was the one for him when she was slowly becoming indispensable to him. Now, six years and two children on, the happy couple are ready to reclaim their youth in a second wedding shoot with Korea Artiz Studio, where they travelled back in time to their youthful love.

Take us back in time to the moment you realised Janice was the one for you. What was the moment like, and what quality of hers did made you fall in love with her?

Tommy: It wasn’t a moment per se, more like during the time we dated, she slowly became an indispensable presence in my life, and that was when I realised that she was the one for me. I also love that she always puts her loved ones before anyone else.

Bring us back to the day of the proposal, Tommy. How and where did you propose to Janice six years ago?

Six years ago, I proposed to Janice at Shangri-La Singapore. I had secretly planned a proposal with her family and close friends in attendance. Janice is a very smart girl and she can always tell if something is up, so it took a lot for me to stay nonchalant for the few months before the actual proposal. I don’t think she knew about the proposal before it happened, but maybe she was just being nice!

What made you decide to embark on another wedding shoot six years after you tied the knot?

I think every bride will have some regrets or felt that they could have done better in certain areas in their wedding shoot, and I wanted a second wedding shoot to be a shared activity we could do together after being parents for four years.

Tell us about your wedding shoot experience with Korea Artiz Studio.

Korea Artiz Studio specialises in Korean style photography and after looking through their portfolio, I knew I could trust the recommendation of my consultant and decided go with the flow. The entire process was hassle free as everything was prepared and ready for us, from our makeup to our consultant guiding us on what’s next, and even offering to buy us food and coffee!

What were some of the memorable/funny moments during the shoot?

They actually had a Korean photographer and she was super cute and professional! She would throw random jokes and make us do silly poses, which we thought were a little cringy, but it turned out pretty well in the photos! Also, as we are not that young, they really accommodated to us and made us feel very comfortable during the entire shoot.

How different was this shoot as compared to your original pre-wedding shoot?

My original pre-wedding shoot was mainly shot outdoors and we had to work with the weather, but since Korea Artiz Studio has a professional Korean-style studio, they had really good sets that resulted in realistic photos that we thought were not possible to do indoors.

Having gone through two wedding shoots and a wedding, what advice do you have for couples who are currently embarking on their wedding shoot and wedding?

I would say that of course the right photographer is important but the team supporting the photographer is even more crucial! Compared to my first wedding shoot, this was easily more comfortable as the team helped us with small tasks such as handing us our next attire, making sure we were fed and hydrated, taking some behind-the-scene shots for us and many more!

It is also important to remember that you are taking photos with a person whom you are going to spend your lifetime with, so enjoy the moment and not the location because genuine happiness will always make the photos look great!

After six years of marriage and two children, do you have any secrets or words of advice for soon-to-be-wed couples on how to maintain a happy marriage/life?

I think even as a couple, we have our own perspectives on things and sometimes we may encounter friction, but ultimately it is always important to understand that we are not fighting against each other about who is right, but rather settling differences. Even the best marriages after a long time will have its cracks and faults, but communication and understanding will always be the glue that keeps the relationship strong and healthy!
