Michelle and Juen’s Heartwarming Wedding at 1-Arden
Michelle and Juen’s wedding was filled with an outpouring of love that made their celebration all the more happy and heartwarming.
Michelle and Juen met in university and hung out with the same group of friends. But after a particular group outing, the pair got closer and eventually started dating. Seven years later, the lovebirds are tying the knot in a heartwarming and intimate celebration with their family and friends at one of Singapore’s latest rooftop venues, 1-Arden.
Tell us more about how you met and became a couple.
Michelle: We met in one of the halls in the National University of Singapore, and started off as friends in the same clique. One night, we went to Halloween Horror Nights together with the group, and bonded closer from all the screams and frights – I’m sure my constant grabbing of his hands also helped. Juen asked me out shortly after, and the rest is history.
What was the proposal like?
Michelle: Juen proposed at Fort Canning during the Christmas season. There were lights all around and it was really pretty. I thought we were going to Fort Canning to have dinner and celebrate our 7th year anniversary, so I was surprised when he led me to a small grove that was lit up beautifully with our photos. I was even more surprised when our family and closest friends started popping up from the bushes – apparently, we had walked past them without me even noticing. Juen serenaded me with a love song medley where he had changed the lyrics to describe our journey together, and it was absolutely perfect.
What was your wedding day like?
Michelle: Our wedding day was a blur! We packed the day with so many activities – a gatecrash, an outdoor photoshoot, a garden solemnisation, a restaurant dinner, and an afterparty at a bar. It felt like a constant celebration as we went through the day. We had the best bridal party as they took care of all the decision making and ran the show, which allowed us to just enjoy the moment.
We were also so lucky with the weather, as it had been raining the whole week and it had poured a little in the morning. Thankfully, it cleared up in time for our outdoor shoot and garden solemnisation, and only started drizzling again after the guests had gone in for dinner. Throughout the whole day, one thing that stood out consistently was the outpouring of love – it was so surreal to be surrounded by the people we loved to celebrate us. It was truly the happiest day of our lives.
What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?
Michelle: The most memorable part of the wedding was seeing Juen tear up while we were exchanging our vows during the solemnisation. I’ve hardly ever seen him cry in our years of dating, and seeing how overwhelmed with emotion he was during our wedding moved me so deeply.
