Halfpenny London “Wonder” Collection

Full of surprising, playful elements, versatile separates, and big, bold design, Halfpenny London’s Wonder collection of bridal gowns is for the bride who isn’t afraid to have fun with her style.

Designer Kate Halfpenny believes in creating bridalwear for real women, and Halfpenny London’s bridal collection feature versatile pieces that women can style to suit their bodies and personalities. Spring 2023’s collection is no different. Halfpenny London’s Bridal Spring 2023 collection, titled “Wonder”, is inspired by the freedom of child-like curiosity and the awe of discovery. “I wish the same for my brides when they visit our boutique and find a treasure trove of beautiful garments, ready to help them express themselves and truly be the bride they want to be,” she says.

The collection features a fun juxtaposition of modern silhouettes with mix and match separates and playful detachable details. Huge, exaggerated bows, puff sleeves, and bridal separates give brides the freedom to style the biggest day of their lives however they want. “Textiles are a constant inspiration and we’ve had fun this season with flowing Duchess satin, delicious weighty crepes and featherlight, crunchy taffeta, creating wondrous drama in striking silhouettes,” shares designer Kate. “From plunging necklines and oversized trains, to exquisitely cut, figure-hugging gowns with slim detachable sleeves, to modern corsets with meters of liquid-like satin skirts with high leg splits, there’s something for everyone.”

“The initial inspiration for Wonder came from the realisation that we’ve all gone through such a lot of change, both on a personal level and in the world in general, and so many of us are asking questions of ourselves about our future and how we want to live our lives. I’ve had some seismic changes in my personal life during the development of this collection and, as a result, my sources of inspiration shifted. I am a naturally curious person as a stylist as well as a designer, and I’m constantly searching for that little seed of inspiration, that little bit of magic.

Olive is a light and whimsical taffeta dress with a dramatic skirt with extra long train and front slit and a neckline that can be styled plunging or demure. Brides can opt for more drama with the Sun puffy sleeves or the exaggerated Inga bow.

Paloma is an elegant, minimalist slip dress crafted in crepe, with slim spaghetti straps and a delicate cowl neck. With its sophisticated, crisp lines, it’s perfect for chic brides looking for a minimalist silhouette. Pair the Paloma with long crepe sleeves punctuated with little bows for a unique look, or wrap your shoulders in the Zumo Cape, a ruched tulle cape with textured botanical embellishment and ethereal ties floating down your back.

Bridal separates give brides the freedom to choose the silhouette that best flatters their figure. The off-the-shoulder, draped Dove corset is crafted out of silky Duchess satin, with a power mesh foundation to make brides feel supported with no bra needed. The corset can be worn with the matching Dove skirt, featuring a wide pleated waistband, long train, subtle pleated split, and practical pockets.

The Harmony top features an off-the-shoulder neckline accentuated with a bow-like details on the sleeves. Match it with the Mini Riri skirt with its silk organza frills and frothy, puffball shape for a playful look, and pump up the drama with the puffball Riri sleeves.

The Foxglove skirt features a curvy fit and flare silhouette with a thigh-high split. The simple and elegant piece can be paired with the bride’s choice of tops from the Halfpenny London collection to create her signature look. The Inga train is a long taffeta half-skirt that can be added to a look to dial up the drama.

The Halfpenny London Spring Wonder Collection is full of surprises with its versatile bridal separates, playful detachable elements, and exaggerated shapes. Brides looking to have fun and express their style on their big day will have a field day perfecting their look with the pieces in this collection.
