With sleek gowns that turn into daring silhouettes with bold styling of the many brilliantly versatile capes and detachable skirts, Halfpenny London’s Fall 2023 collection certainly celebrates courage.

Halfpenny London’s Fall 2023 collection is an ode to courage, as designer Kate Halfpenny reminiscences her youth and the brave launch of her career. “Designing for 2023 made me think back to being 23 years old, so full of exuberance and bravery,” says Kate. “With this collection—with every one of my designs in fact—I wish to inspire courage in every woman as she takes her own leap of faith into a new chapter in her life.”

Halfpenny London’s Fall 2023 bridal collection “Courage” is for the bride who wants to celebrate boldness and bravery, with daring bridal styles and exciting ways to customise her look to make it her very own, by choosing from modular pieces such as shrugs, gloves, and detachable skirts that transform a bride’s look for different wedding occasions and beyond.

“This collection is a celebration of courageous acts, of rebellions against the status quo, and the conviction to forge one’s own path,” shares designer Kate. “We’ve created a diverse, playful edit of bold silhouettes and thoughtfully constructed pieces. We’ve continued to push the boundaries of our fabrics in new and unexpected ways, while clever construction offers new styling opportunities for the big day and beyond.”

With so many beautiful pieces to style, a bride can be very courageous with her look indeed. Take the Soleil Dress, a sleek column gown that tapers into a tulle fishtail hem, paired with the magnificent Angelica Cape, to cut a striking silhouette. Or the ballerina-esque Sadie Dress with layers of tulle creating a fluffy skirt juxtaposed with a clean and sleek bodice, cut shorter in front to show off your gorgeous wedding heels. The Maestro Top and Skirt with its cute bubble hem are versatile separates you can have fun with.

The micro-mini Evetta Dress offers a bride a myriad ways to design her bridal look, or take it from formal ceremony to wild dance floor. Crafted in matte stretch duchess satin, the dress features hidden buttons in the hemline to allow brides to add a dramatic tulle skirt or mini frill to change up the look for different wedding events. Capes change it up completely too, whether you want a touch of the ethereal with the hand-beaded Jubilee Cape, or add some flair to the mini dress with the oversized Rara cape.

Halfpenny London’s Fall 2023 collection also gives off vintage vibes with its use of pleats, plunging V-necks, and slinky silhouettes. The Rae Dress wows with its tiered ruffle sleeves that call to mind the Elizabethan ruff. The Cirque Dress features a demure high neck and long sleeves with an open oval back and elegant train. The Cirque Pleated Cuffs add a touch of regency romance to the look. The Hula Dress in elegant silk features a plunging neck and low back, and pleated sleeves that fan out like wings. The pleats are echoed in the full godet in the skirt and train.

More understated silhouettes feature in the collection as well. The Gloria Dress is a clean spaghetti strap sheath with a skirt overlay. The Coco Dress drapes effortlessly on the body in delicate chiffon and flows into a full train over a Duchess satin column skirt that gives the gown the juxtaposition of structure under the floating chiffon. The Twirl Dress has a draped bodice with cold shoulder sleeves, a midriff cutout, and a high slit skirt.

We especially love the collection’s playful capes and shrugs, from ethereal tulle confections to long and dramatic ones worthy of a royal. The Rara Cape is a very modern, big, and bold cape with stretch spaghetti straps, the Rara Shrug looks like a giant bow, and the Royal Shrug leans into the off-shoulder puffy ruffle trend with oversized frills designed to be worn a multitude of ways. For a more elegant cape, look to the ethereal tulle Jubilee Cape with intricate rose motifs over the choker neck, shoulders, and extra-long train, or the Angelica Cape which billows like magnificent angel wings from a high collar.

Gloves add another dimension to the bridal looks. The Elizabeth Gloves are delicate with beaded sequin florals, the Josephine Gloves with their tulle flowers add a feminine yet playful touch, while the exaggerated puff of the Gloria Gloves create drama.

With so many fascinating opportunities for styling, the Halfpenny London Fall 2023 collection is so much more than the sum of its parts. For the brave bride, the possibilities are endless.
