Yvonne and Adam’s Stunning Floral Garden Wedding in JAAN

After a two-year-long separation due to COVID-19, Yvonne and Adam decided to marry so they could reunite! The couple celebrated with a stunning floral garden wedding in JAAN that honoured their Chinese roots.

Yvonne, 27, architecture graduate, and Adam, 27, pursuing medical degree, have dated since high school. When COVID-19 separated them for two years, the couple decided to get married in Singapore so they could reunite. On 7 September 2021, they honoured their heritage with a stunning wedding filled with florals to create a Chinese garden in an English garden theme in JAAN.

Tell us a little bit about your story, such as how the two of you met.

Yvonne: We met in high school 10 years ago at ACS International and have been dating for eight years. We both completed our first degree in the UK. Adam continued his studies in the UK while I went to Perth. When COVID-19 hit, we were not able to see other each for nearly two years. We decided to get married so we could reunite in Singapore.

What was your wedding theme and how did you create it?

Adam: Yvonne did all the planning. She always knows what she wants. The wedding was meant to be a walk-through of our identities. We both grew up with an international background but never forgot our Chinese roots. To embrace Chinese wedding traditions, we held a guo da li and delivery of Yvonne’s dowry. We also engaged local designer LAICHAN to design gowns for Yvonne and both mothers to honour our heritage. The layers of Yvonne’s gown’s bodice are interwoven to symbolise the weaving of two cultures into one.

We both enjoy fine dining so we chose to host our wedding reception at JAAN. JAAN was decorated as a Chinese Garden in an English Garden. JAAN was also the restaurant where we celebrated our first Valentine’s Day. Although the head chef was changed, the current head chef fit our wedding theme even better. He is from England. We are also the first couple got married at JAAN under the current team.

What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?

We truly enjoyed the intimate dinner party. Our friends were all dressed up to celebrate our wedding with good food and wine.
