Yvonne and Ruilin’s Pre Wedding Photography Session at the S.E.A. Aquarium
Yvonne and Ruilin chose a couple of rather unique locations for their pre-wedding photography — the S.E.A. Aquarium and Universal Studios Singapore. Combining their love for the sea and theme parks, the S.E.A. Aquarium gave Yvonne and Ruilin a dreamy and otherworldly backdrop against which to capture their love.

What brought you two together?
Ruilin: We were History majors in NUS but really got to know each other in an IT module.
When did you realise that this was the person you wanted to marry?
Yvonne: Gradually, after dating each other for four years, we realised that we have similar interests and aligned values, and we just could not imagine living a life without each other.
How did Ruilin propose?
Yvonne: It was on Christmas Day in 2013 when Ruilin brought me to Nikoi island off the East Coast of Bintan and surprised me with a romantic seaside proposal.
A seaside proposal, and then pre-wedding photography at the S.E.A. Aquarium. We’re sensing a theme here! Do you love the sea?
Ruilin: We shot our pre-wedding photography session at various locations, the beach, Universal Studios Singapore, and the Resorts World Sentosa S.E.A. Aquarium. Yvonne has always liked theme parks and the sea, which is why we did our shoots at these locations. We had to pay for a package to shoot in Universal Studios Singapore and the S.E.A. Aquarium but the experience was worthwhile.
Yvonne: We wanted to take this chance to take unique photos with nature. I liked places that were fun and “dreamy” and Ruilin wanted natural shots. We thought of Universal Studios Singapore and the S.E.A. Aquarium as they have a combination of both.
Was it an extra fun experience shooting your pre-wedding photos at a theme park such as the S.E.A. Aquarium and Universal Studios Singapore?
Yvonne: We would like to say that it was a fun, surreal, but tiring experience. Ruilin was perspiring profusely, and it was difficult for me to walk around in my high heels, but having a professional photographer helps to remind us to relax and not forget the purpose of the engagement shoot, a physical memory of our romance that is truly once in a lifetime. It was wonderful to have displayed the affectionate side of us during the shoot.
Any advice for other couples who want to do their pre-wedding photography at the S.E.A. Aquarium?
Yvonne: It would be good to closely collaborate with the customer service representatives on the concept and content of the shoot so that they can provide advice and facilitate the session.
Did you wedding include sea or theme park elements too?
Ruilin: We got married on Christmas Day in 2014 at Rasa Sentosa Shangri La, our dream wedding location by the seaside. We had a blast and an unforgettable experience. Our wedding day will forever be etched in our hearts. Thinking of our wedding brings a smile to our faces.
