Jayne and Vernon’s Bohemian Inspired Engagement Shoot
One of radio’s most popular personalities, Vernon Anthonisz, 41, has recently tied the knot with business development executive Jayne Tham, 25 at the prestigious Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore! Their 17 year age gap made them an unlikely match in the eyes of many, but it is impossible to miss the love between this lovestruck duo when you see the way they look at each other. While we wait with bated breath for photos of their gorgeous garden wedding on 6 June 2014 to be ready, check out Jayne and Vernon’s incredibly chic Bohemian inspired engagement photoshoot with Bobby Kiran Photography and MerryLove: Wedding Things.
Walk us through the day Vernon got on one knee.
He proposed on my birthday last year while we were on a short retreat at Montigo Resorts, Batam, so it was extremely low-key and personal. He got down on one knee out of the blue and asked if I would marry him. This being a once-in-a-lifetime experience, I took my time with the ringandquestion (I couldn’t let him have it easy, of course!) but eventually said yes! When he slipped the ring onto my finger, it felt so surreal!
We heard that your Bohemian-inspired photoshoot was determined by a dress. Tell us more!
Yes! I was picking out some dresses at BCBGMaxazria when I came across this beautiful bohemian-inspired dress and my friend, Shuying from MerryLove: Weddings Things suggested that we do a bohemian-inspired shoot. I thought it was a great idea as I’ve seen some Pinterest images on bohemian-inspired wedding shoots and they were gorgeous! It was perfect timing too, as we decided to scrap our initial idea of shooting at the places we met because it was simply too much of a logistical nightmare.
Outdoor shoots are always tricky because of the weather. Were you at the mercy of the weather or were you one of the lucky ones to enjoy good weather on the day of your photoshoot?
Unfortunately, no! It rained on the day we were supposed to have our photoshoot, despite our prayers for good weather, checking the forecast and waiting for the rain to stop. And I was already in the midst of doing my hair and makeup! So, we decided to call it a day and postponed the shoot. This time, the heavens were kind to us; we had clear skies with zero signs of rain on our second shoot day!
I’m sure you had a blast with the Merrylove Weddings and Bobby Kiran photography team during the shoot and bagged home plenty of memories of the day.
Definitely! We were at it for four hours and by the time we were done at noon, we were all so exhausted. But it was worth it! The photographs by Bobby turned out fabulous and we’ve received many compliments for them. And I didn’t just go home with lovely memories of the team working hard together to make our shoot come true, my dog and I went home with extra “souvenirs” too! The poor pup had balls of thorns stuck to his fur from the plants in the field so I had to cut his fur the moment we got home. Eventually, I had to send him to the groomers because he looked terrible in the haircut I gave him! I also ended up with a sunburn from being under the sun for four hours, which created ugly tan lines on my arms!
