A MerryLove Weddings Styled Valentine’s Day
Although Valentine’s Day is over, love is still all around in the SingaporeBrides office. And when Shuying from MerryLove Weddings sent us photos of their first-ever styled marathon shoot held just one day before Valentine’s Day, we just had to share the love because the photos were just too gorgeous to keep to ourselves!
Together with Valerie from Click! Photography and Cynthia from Cynderella, the MerryLove Weddings team created lifelong memories for not one but three couples! But for one of the couples, Amanda and Raymond, who intended to use the photos for their save-the-dates, it was an especially memorable and sweet prelude to their Valentine’s Day and future life together!
Amanda & Raymond:
We met in Secondary school but sparks only started to fly when we re-connected four years ago. While we were on holiday in Korea with my family last year, he proposed to me at Seoul’s N Tower in the chilly 3-degree weather with the help of my brother and his girlfriend! I’ve always been a fan of MerryLove Weddings’ styling and when I heard about their Valentine’s Day marathon shoot, I jumped at the opportunity. Initially, it was meant as a surprise for Raymond. But he later suggested that the photos would be perfect for our save-the-dates, since our own pre-wedding photography was happening much later.
Embarking on our first photoshoot was a little scary at first. But everyone present were so overwhelmingly friendly, engaging and warm, that by the time we were in front of the camera, we were totally relaxed. At one point, Shuying’s team threw gold confetti around us for a celebratory look to the photos, but she threw too much of it and it hit Raymond’s neck and my eyes with a loud ‘piak’, and we just burst out laughing! That resulted in quite a few candid shots, though!
Shuying from MerryLove Weddings:
For this Valentine’s Day shoot, we envisioned a romantic set lit by string lights. So, we illuminated the set with more than 100 metres of fairy lights, accented with roses and shimmery tassels in the colour of love – deep red. We softened the look of the set and created more depth by using some sheer fabric. During the shoot, we had the opportunity to interact with the couples and learn more about them as they waited for their turn at hair and make-up or the actual shoot. I remember at one point, we had all three couples in the studio – a pair on set, a second pair getting hair and make-up done and another chatting with us while waiting. Honestly, it felt more like a party than work!
