Designer Feature: Vera Wang Bridal Fall 2015

Vera Wang unveiled her Fall 2015 Bridal Collection at the New York Bridal Market to applause. Featuring architectural drapes, delicate Chantilly lace and floral appliqué with a metallic glint, the collection is a study in romantic complexity.

The collection resonates with Vera Wang’s signature intricate draping of the finest textiles and feminine detailing. Soft fabrics like silk crepe are layered with exquisite Chantilly laces and gauzy tiers of tulle, and teamed with delicate negligee straps or strapless bodices. Silvery floral appliqué accent the gowns with an elegant shimmer, creating luxe textures that simply call out to be touched. Vera describes her Fall 2015 collection as ‘sexy’ and ‘sensuous,’ and these gowns are clearly seductions of the finest order.

Yet, the ethereal layers and floral accents don’t make for an overly girly effect. Teaming hard and soft design elements, like a gauzy silk organza bow knotted at the back of the neck, to float down the bold V back of a sleek mermaid silhouette, Vera has created gowns for the cool girl as well as the hopeless romantic. Styled with heavy combat boots and messy hair, Vera Wang’s latest bridal collection has a definite edge to its romanticism. Bustiers are sculpted into modern architectural forms, handsewn floral appliqué is sharpened with a metallic glint and glittering crystals, and silk tulle is layered into carefree skirts a bride can pick up and race through the city in.

In shades of ivory and rose, the collection is imbued with a fresh and easy style not often seen in bridal couture, balancing ornate floral lacework with relaxed spaghetti strap necklines. The gorgeously detailed gowns are worn effortlessly, by a bride who is more than acquainted with luxury. Young and edgy, the collection is styled for the grunge girl who isn’t afraid to bare some skin and some soul.
