Designer Feature: Claire Pettibone Fall 2015 Collection
Inspired by the beauty of Gothic cathedrals like Notre Dame in Paris and Westminster Abbey in London, Claire Pettibone’s Fall 2015 bridal collection contains every bit of the majesty and splendor these cathedrals are known for. Pettibone cleverly interprets the ornate facades and intricate leaded glass and carvings of these cathedrals into French lace and silk embroidery and shows us a peak of the heavenly skies through the intricate stained glass details in silver and glided gold lace on her gowns.
The Refectory at The High Line Hotel couldn’t have been a more perfect venue for the unveiling of Pettibone’s captivating collection. This high ceiling turn-of-the-century Collegiate Gothic architecture reflected the romantic and Gothic factor in her collection and reminded us of the opulence and grandeur of these ancient cathedrals. Wintry shades were also spotted in Pettibone’s latest collection, with gowns bathed in pearl, platinum and pale blue linings, and silver and gold lace detailings.Faith Seville Michaela Gabrielle Florence Trinity Emmanuel Eternity Raphaella
The amount of intricate lace and embroidered detailing from the neckline right down to the hem of the gown just blew me away and I’m sure everyone watching the models float down the aisle felt the same way too! Every gown had a different lace patterning that simply made looking at it interesting, and featured sleeveless options to short cap sleeves and long bell sleeves reminiscent of the Renaissance period.Close-up of the silver and gold sequins, long tulle sleeves and jeweled gold waist with pearl silk lining on Ariel Close-up of the beaded embroidery on the champagne halter neck and ivory stained glass illusion back on Celestine Eden’s keyhole back with golden floral vines embroidered with sequins and lace embellishment with blue silk lining (Left) and Michaela’s long sleeved gold and silver embroidered flowers with Guipure silver trim, antique tulle and platinum silk lining (Right) Florence’s fringed quatrefoil Guipure illusion back and platinum silk lining (Left) and Notre-Dame’s stained glass illusion back with bronze Guipure lace and platinum silk lining (Right)
The use of classic silhouettes like the sheath, A-line and empire-cut played up the romantic and Gothic number in Pettibone’s Fall 2015 bridal collection. The gowns were soft and flowy, with dreamy lace illusion necklines and billowing sleeves that resembled the wings of angels. Watching the line-up of models glide down the aisle was like watching angels float down the aisle – that’s how dreamy Pettibone’s Fall 2015 bridal collection was!
