Designer Feature: Yumi Katsura Fall 2015

Let Yumi Katsura bring you on a journey of love with her Fall 2015 bridal collection. Named Modern Love, Katsura’s latest collection draws inspiration from, well, love! Each gown in this collection is named “Love” in a variety of language and culture found all around the world and celebrates the feminine form with soft and romantic touches and classic silhouettes tailored to flatter every body shape.

There is truly a gown for every bride in Katsura’s Fall 2015 collection which features the more romantic A-line and ball gowns like Ardsley, a tulle ballgown with a delicate lace underlay and an illusion neckline with Chantilly lace and sheer long sleeves, and sexier silhouettes like the fit-and-flare Ai, an illusion high-neck and back silk satin faced organza and Chantilly lace gown.

Katsura wants only the best for her brides and uses only the finest materials such as silk mikado, silk Charmeuse, and French Chantilly and Guipure lace in her creations. Her gowns are embellished with sparkling Swarovski crystals and exquisitely hand-beaded and embroidered to make a bride’s special day even more special. Katsura’s gowns also carry a little piece of her Japanese culture, featuring origami-inspired pleats and folds to complement a simpler bodice and silhouette.

I simply adore the pretty details of the Chantilly lace used in Katsura’s collection, especially when they are laid against a darker shade of silk organza or charmuese like Ai or Adora! The contrast of white or ivory against the darker shade of Shortbread or Marzipan underlay makes the lace detailing pop and gives the gown a more two-dimensional look. Our verdict? Like the absolutely adorable lace design on the back of Adora, we heart Katsura’s Fall 2015 collection very much.

Yumi Katsura is available in New York, Paris, China, Japan and Tirtha Weddings.
