Faith, Hope and Love
Boy meets girl on a bus. They fall in love, and start collecting memories for their scrapbook of life together. Meet Adeline Lim, 27, Senior Recruitment Consultant and Wilson Seah, 31, Bank Analyst, and be inspired by how they overcome disagreements to celebrate love and faith in a sweet story of commitment on 25 May 2013.
How did the two of you meet?
We met each other during a church camp in KL with approximately more than 300 campers. Our church is very big and we didn’t know each other before that at all. To us, it was a God-moment when we were somehow placed on board the same coach on the way to Kuala Lumpur. However, we only managed to have conversations together at the end of the 5-day church camp while returning to Singapore from Kuala Lumpur. Later on, we found out that we both already noticed each other on board the bus since day one! As cheesy as it sounds, we believe it was love at first sight!
That must have been one romantic bus ride! Tell us the story of the proposal.
Adeline: The proposal was sweet and meaningful! Wilson wanted to do a scrapbook with me to envision our future together. So we put together beautiful pictures of a house that’s conveniently located in a prime area, having a car together, going on mini-moons and honeymoons together, having successful careers, and finally, Wilson took out a picture which he had photoshopped – the front cover of a bridal magazine with our faces on it! With this, he took out the bling bling which he had specially customised for me and popped the golden question. I was pleasantly surprised, yet felt very nervous!
Wilson: I planned for months about what I should do, given that this is a once-in-a-lifetime affair. Many ideas came to mind but finally, I settled on making a scrapbook of our future together. The day came and it was nerve-wrecking! Haha. Adeline was so surprised that the first thing she exclaimed after seeing the ring was, “Why are you proposing?!” We had a good laugh over her reaction after that.
How did you prepare for your wedding?
Wedding preparation was made better with the help of our friends and loved ones. Although there were disagreements at some point in time, yet it was these disagreements that made us realise we were ready to accept each other for who we are, and ready to celebrate our differences for a lifetime together.
That’s a beautiful realisation. Were you just as ready for your actual wedding day?
Adeline: The actual day passed by in the blinking of an eye! We had our share of touching moments when my dad walked me into the ballroom to hand me over to Wilson and when we exchanged our wedding vows. We had our share of joy and laughter too with our loved ones and dear friends celebrating our Big Day with us.
Wilson: It was the happiest day of my life to be able to marry such a beautiful girl, and the whole day was just beautiful because we knew we had Jesus in the midst of our wedding!
Were there any particular moments that were particularly special to you?
Wilson: The most special moments would have to be during the Holy Matrimony – from Adeline’s dad marching her in, to the Worship, the exchanging of vows, the lighting of candles to signify two persons becoming one, our first holy communion together as husband and wife, and us marching out as husband and wife.
Adeline: I loved the entire Holy Matrimony too! My husband also planned a surprise by singing a song to me in front of the entire crowd of over 300 people – it was really really sweet because he has never sung in front of such a huge crowd before.
