What do u think? just a normal thing?

hmm... i miss riding pillion on my dad's bike and occasionally getting my calf scorched by the bloody exhaust... but i guess wat i miss most is his smell when i kiss him goodnight... i really love that... the smell still lingers... i dun think i've ever felt as safe and protected.

ok, just to vaguely link my post to the topic...i wish i could have a wallpaper of my dad on my phone... last time no digital camera yet, unless i scan? hmm... well i dun hav my wife's photo as wallpaper, it's actually another girl... keke. tk goodness my wife dun suspect here suspect there...

Powder, the girl's picture in your phone's wallpaper must be the same that's in your MSN display picture hehe

I miss being daddy's little girl (even though I am in my late 30s). Just feel differently with my mom because I am the one to take care of her most times. Ain't complaining at all but there's no denying that he was and still is the person of all people that I love most. At times I wish he was never gone even though I understand that he had to go.

tat sorta makes me wanna live longer for my kid... but then i'm pretty sure i dun wanna hang around til i'm 70...

When you hit 70, your girl would ONLY be my age. She still needs and wants daddy leh haha

I miss my dad's presence and recalled our times together every now and then, especially in the past couple of days which marked the first year of his passing. But it's not an emotion I could express freely as I don't want my mom to see me tear and affect her mood.....

too old to be around leh... u know, sometimes i conjure up all these images of being the cool daddy and stuff, and being included... but the fact may be that i could just be half-paralysed and dumped in some facility... ok depressing i know, but kinda reality for some... one of the reasons why i dun wanna live that long... i dun really wanna be a mental burden/guilt trip for the kids, u know?

..........

You like this say what else can I say haha

My, this thread kana mutated into a daddy topic.....Oh, to go back to the topic, I don't have my daddy's photo anywhere as he is constantly on my mind and never left my heart.

I think I have used an ex-bf's photo as wallpaper on my mobile and my Facebook briefly, but that was done to please him than myself haha

dun need to go back, it's like those coffee sessions... the person who started the topic has left, whoever is remaining can have a spin-off topic...

i'm hoping to travel with my wife in our late 40s... hopefully with a few rentals to finance that... then older that time have own life and run around abit... maybe we can do high-tea from time to time... the whole point of working hard now is to semi-retire whilst our bodies still working well... i dun plan to be any less active than the kids man! hehe... Daddy-Cool.

pls make sure i dun have to climb stairs one hor... and must have ample parking space... i dun wanna assume that i can still walk nor park my car as fast... oh ya - Soft foods hor... in case i have digestion problems or wear dentures...

in spore only ok? i'd be sad if any of my frens kena dumped in JB old folks home.

dun laugh hor... it's very true, just that i added humour to it...

the way i see some of my frens so dedicated to their kids to the point of losing sight of their own selves... i foresee a sad process tat's happening to the current generation of older folks...

i'm prepared to see a few frens head to JB and living in denial, telling me their kids have no choice, living in spore is tougher and all the crap Except blaming themselves and the values they inculcate. it's actually Very Real...

as it is, in the last 10yrs, i've seen some parents fooolishly sell their HDBs to aid their children in buying bigger newer HDBs with thoughts of staying together... my mum spent over a year volunteering at the old folks' homes before getting into depression hearing all the stories of abandonment.

u want an idea of how generation-x thinks? go surf Stomp forum... alot of youngsters there. u will be able to sense how detached the newer generations are getting. it's becoming a very ME ME ME world out there...

sad to say, not many pple of our generation are having a keen sense of awareness nor at least foreseeing the likelihood of where our culture is headed. we can be totally complacent and not think twice abt our own situations...

well ya I know to a certain extent its true.. haiz.. but what can we do?

the younger generation with the ME ME ME attitude definitely is wrong but I guess alot of these have to be taught since young. like for example my case, I grew up knowing that I shd take care of my folks when they are old.. this is something that stays with me as long as I was sensible enough to know what is right & what is wrong..

actually to be true, its getting quite scary to grow old during our age I guess.. no one to take care of us.. eetc.. but frankly come to think about it.. living in old folks home to me is like abandonment... its just soo sad..

just the other day when I was in a cab, the uncle was telling me that he is old already, then the fact that he has nothing to pin for anymore, just that when he die, he will leave his hse to his children.. when I ask how old is he, he told me he is 68. At the age of 68, he is still worrying abt his children, to whom when I asked, they are married already.. Didn't tis old uncle think of who will take care of him when he is older???

it's the social conditioning... we've been taught that these are good things... family, taking care of children blah blah... but like most sporeans - we subscribe to these ideas abit too obsessively, too blindly, too superficial... we dun bother to think further and deeper except to keep working on something and hoping that there's gonna be rewards...

it's the same attitude we apply at work, and also in religion... we Dun question what we're doing, we just do... at the end of it, it's gonna be one Big denial process.

i never understood this need to give house to children or help children with housing... or providing for anything other than shelter, protection n education... pple like to put their eggs into ONE basket and hope.

u see the same attitude with academics? long stays in companies? 7yrs relationships?

it's something tat isn't questioned as often and as deeply... so pple all assume it's gonna pay-off.

the payoff is cheap tho... tat's why JB.

this part is honest and brutal...

if i dig deeper... some pple fear failure all their lives that they shy away from challenges for themselves, and instead hide behind pro-family sacrifices and effort. they'd spend so much time worrying of their offsprings that it has become the very definition of their existences... when u take that away from them, they are nothingness...

well well well...

at times.. life is as such.. we are such worry tarts.. i think the best way is not to worry so much really.. just see how parents are forcing their kids to attend additional classes out of their sch etc.. besides that they are packed with hobbies to learn.. all these.. are they really good for the kids? parents thinks so but not the kids.. parents are implanting what they want their kids to grow up to become.. perhaps a fraction of what they wish they could be but failed..

live life like its ur last, we only think of how we are gg to enjoy our retirement when we start planning them well before...

ya that's one of the toughies... but i think whatever we want them to learn, we have to be moderate lah... too much also may not be good.

there's an irony there, but it's too politically incorrect and brutal for me to say...

moderation is the word here ba..

too much or too less of each thing is no good.. guess u just have to strike a balance chord in here..

next i worry that there's a lack of supply in JB, then JB side boom then rental goes up then then... arrrrghhh...

let's just make sure we set aside enough for our own retirement and not give it freely to the young ones...

lol
ah bor.. how abt we set up a home then when we all grow old liao.. we just move in there to stay lor.. sure happening one!

lolllll...

Well... I discovered how my ex-bf was cheating with his msn gf by discovering he changed his msn profile pic to his solo pic.

But i wasn't suspicious when i saw the pic, coz i know it's common. It's his reaction when i asked him about it that got me suspicious. He looks fidgety and doesn't dare to look at my in the eye, hugged me and said "I dunno"

How lame... Of coz i will get suspicious
