The Sentosa, A Beaufort Hotel

Hi girls thanks for the reply. I've decided to settle for a Chinese menu afterall =)
For the flowers, I'm engaging Simply Flowers for their service after several visits to some florists in town. I must say Jane from Simply flowers is really professional and am very impressed with her service so far. Somehow she gave me some confidence having her taking care of this part of the wedding.

Hi girls! This is great; there is finally some "action" on this thread.:-)

Congrats Mvvy! Florist is next on my to-do list. Will be sure to see Jane first.;-)

I met with Cathy on Sat and saw the variety of favors! They are all so cute, especially the wine stopper and picture frame.

Hi elmove, I have had meals at the Cliff and Terrace. Personally, if you want top notch chinese food, then Beaufort may not top the list.

I have always liked the western food done by Chef Armstrong (Cliff). I suggest that you try out the champagne brunch on sunday; that will give you an all-rounder view on their Chinese, western, dessert menus. Good luck!:-)

Just had my food tasting... the chinese banquet food are really good... we like them, at least in terms of quality... however my family members think the portion is a little too little.. not like other hotel banquets where there are usually leftovers for big eaters... so i was jokingly saying that it's chinese-style fine dining... now i hope my guests wont complain about insufficient food... mayb Beaufort can increase the portion abit??

now i can change my perception of Beaufort... as i always tot of it very "ang mo"... been to The Cliff and it was superb for food and ambience.. and after the food tasting, the chinese banquet set is superb.. hope the standard will be there on my actual day too...

Hi Milkyway, did you have your food tasting on Sat around 2pm? I was there to meet with Cathy and she excused herself for a few mins to talk to a couple who was there for food tasting:-) It is great that the chinese menu turned out to be outstanding!:-) Have you chosen your favors?

thanks for the comments on the food gals!
i've been to the cliff too and liked the food - relieved to hear that it's a good sign for the banquet food too

Hello everyone! I will be meeting with the florists (Faye and Jane) this Sat. Any tips or particular questions, please give me a heads-up. Thank you. Hope everyone is doing well.:-)

Hi PK,

I just did my wedding at Ginger room in May. As it was drizzling before my wedding. The ground was slightly damp and i was afraid of uneven ground. Thus, I came out from the Ginger room, much to guest's unexpectation. It turned out well. the place is really lovely. no regrets with the venue & with Cathy. She is a really nice lady.

Hi Ming,

Just saw your post on the Beaufort thread.
I'm having my solemnization at the Lawn outside the Ginger Room, followed by buffet dinner at The Ginger Room.
Can I know if you did the same? If you took the buffet, is the food sufficient for the guests?
Thanks in advance!

hi gals,
any one knows is the sound system is provided in beaufort? n what is the lighting like at the grand salon? have anyone used colored water goblets instead of normal wine glasses?

the lighting is ok but better to use candles in the flower arrangements to brighten the place up and give it a romantic air
happy.gif
the dark brown walls come out really very dark in the photos so if possible, you could advise the photographer to not get too much of the wall esp. in group pics.

the sound system is ok. i had a string quartet which i thought was a little soft at times but guests said it was ok.

some of my guests had difficulty finding the beaufort bus bustop at Vivocity. especially the older folks.

Audrey's Floral did a great job for me. best i think to give her several pics of arrangements you like and she can reproduce the feel of it beautifully

one more thing, for brides on a budget, after some research i think Tdragon does a fantastic job for the price they charge. You've got to give them the design you want and not expect them to be the ones to come up with a creative design. But their delivery in terms of timing, process and final product, was great.

hi gals, i heard cathy left The Sentosa. vanessa is taking over.. hv any of u liaised with her yet? i'm shocked we werent even informed of this hand-over.

Hi Anita. I was informed that Cathy was leaving and that her replacement is Clara. In fact, we met with Clara two weeks ago. Might just have been a slip-up on their side.

Oh, I wasn't aware that Cathy was leaving too!

PK, how was your meet-up with Clara? Is she as nice and accommodating as Cathy?

Now that's a relief!

So Cathy has left The Sentosa already? And all arrangements will be made with Clara hereon..? heh.

PK, i know you mentioned this before, but I forgot.. when's your AD?

Hi! My AD is 25th April so i guess they are more urgent in their interactions with me! haha

Basically, Cathy sent us an email and copied Clara and then my HTB just took over from there in talking to Clara...

Ahh, no wonder!

My AD is in Nov, so I doubt they'd be informing me anytime soon.. Harha.. Once again, i'm being a super kiasu S'porean!

Hi.. I am also thinking of having my wedding here.. But I'm concerned about carpark lots for guests who drive.. Any idea where they can park and if there are sufficient lots?

In addition, any feedback on the services of the waiters/waitresses?

Hi girls! Just had my food tasting earlier this evening and i am very happy and relieved to share that the food was very very yummy!:-) We took the sweet serenity menu, had one italian dish and ended with a dessert buffet and it turned out beautifully! My parents (who are usually fussy eaters) and my chef brother gave " Two Thumbs Up"! Clara has been very sweet, sincere and accommodating. What a major "phew"!

Thanks girls! Am sure that your tastings will turn out great too!:-)

Rie- I picked out my wedding favours on that day. Chose two little keepsake boxes from a choice of a dozen items.

Hi all, I am having my wedding at the Beaufort too in October this year. I signed the contract with them in November last year to hold my solemnisation on the Lawn & dinner in the Ginger Room.

Cathy was initially handling my wedding & I wasn't informed either of her departure. All this time, I had been sending her emails & left voicemails without getting any returned. I was pissed!!

It was only this month (after I made a complain)that I was informed by the Director that Cathy has left. She said she has all my emails in my file but obviously didn't think it is important to reply to me!

Now the wedding coordinator is Maria. Send her emails also no reply. BIG HEADACHE!

So far, all I can say is I am very disappointed with such services from 5 star establishment like theirs.

Hi Cat! So sorry to hear of your encounter; has to be very frustrating!

Based on my interactions with them, there are two coordinators now-Clara and Vanessa. My hubbt and i are happy with the services provided by Clara; perhaps you can arrange a meeting with the Director and request for a change of coordinator?

I will have my wedding dinner this year july.

Their service really sucks, before I confirm I'm interested to the place, they never reply e-mail, never return call. I needed even to call 3 times in order to get the wedding menu e-mailed to me. But I like the place, what to do?

Cat (watcatwants) : My co-ordinator is Maria too, she is like that, not checking every e-mail (she replied most but not all, once I need to called her to enquire). Usually I will call her direct line to get her. But apart from the e-mail part, she's ok. So don't worry

Hi ChaCha, yeah, Maria at least replies to me when I send her a reminder. Oh well, we have to take what is given. As long as the service doesnt deteriorate, I can live with it.

Which ballroom will you be having your wedding? Mine will be in the Ginger Terrace (open air) & the Ginger room. Very cosy & private
happy.gif

Hi Cat! Good to know that the hotel has responded to u. Hope that they keep up their act.:-)

Hi ChaCha! My big party happens next month. Yours is coming up fast!:-)

Hi Cat! Haha, ya Busy Busy Busy! :-) And, we are only hosting 10 tables!;-)

We are now negotiating corkage charges as we want to bring in 12 bottles of champagne. They are willing to waive corkage for 4 bottles and impose $30nett per bottle. We are trying to push for corkage to be waived for 6 bottles. Wish me luck!:-)

How about you, Cat? What's on your to-do list now?:-) How big is your party? Am also having solemnization on the Lawn, followed by dinner at The Ballroom.

Hi PK, my to-do list is getting longer & longer each day! Gosh.

Wedding invitations is my biggest headache at the moment. As we dont need only like 30 cards, its hard to find a printer who will design & print for us. So am thinking of designing one myself & just go to Bras Basah to get printed, but then afraid, they may turn out look el-cheapo. Lets see how that goes ...

My party is a little smaller. 70 pax as the max that the Ginger room can take! Phew ... ours is a BBQ so hopefully, it will be a little less hassle.

Now that you mention it, yeah corkage. We're thinking of bringing in Australian wines - a good balance of red, white & sparkling. Sheesh, how much will the hotel charge man ..... the budget is getting out of hand as it is ...

Oh! Best of luck with the corkage negotiation. Let me know how that turns out. Then at least we know how 'flexible' they are
happy.gif

Have a good day!

Hi Cat! I used Card Blanche (recommended by a fellow Beaufort bride!:-) for my wedding card and I Success to print my wedding insert. Hubby and I did a little card to introduce ourselves and got I success to print. You can consider this printer, they are very affordable and best of all, no minimal quantity.

A BBQ will be so much fun!! I can just imagine the ambience :-) What will you be wearing during the BBQ?

Oh goody! Can you forward to me the contact of I Success? I assume the cards you bought from Card Blanche are blank ones? How much are they?

I will be wearing my wedding gown. I'm too lazy to change :P Louis made the dress in 3 layers so I may just 'strip' one layer off hehehe

my hubby's already teasing me that I'll dirty my dress before the night is done. He's so mean
happy.gif

is the hotel making your cake or did you get it from someplace else? i checked with the patissiere - they are going to charge $700+ for a 5.6kg cake (granted its 2 tiers but how big can a 2-tier 5.6kg cake be???)

will be meeting CherylShuen next week. hopefully, something fruitful will come out of that. but it appears that most brides here loves Pine Garden.

Hi Cat! The cards that we bought from Card Blanche are our formal wedding cards. $4.50 per piece. And the little insert that we made with Isuccess costs 60cent. Have to forewarn u that I success is solely a printer; they can't do design for u. I tried to (during my initial stages of cost-cutting) but man, it was frustrating.:-( So, do go to them when u have a fairly good idea of your design and they can quote you based on the printing cost alone. Look for Huda (the sales assistant) or Mr. Hong (he is part of the family, i think). And yes, they have shifted to 91 Bencoolen St, #01-11, Sunshine Plaza. Tel: 6837 0304

Wow, u will be wearing your gown for the bbq! Hats off to you, babe!:-)

Sigh, with regards to the cake. I encountered the same issue and the same price.:-( We have not decided if we will just take the cake provided by the hotel as we want to do away with the cake cutting. I wanted to make a fun cake (have u seen a scramble cake?) instead of the regular wedding sort.

hahaha, think you and i have similiar taste!!:-)

These websites are new to me!!;-) My source has been Martha stewart and Pricecope(world wide brides)..haha

Yes, letterpress is costly. Hope you find a way!!
