The Fullerton Hotel Singapore

Hi there,
Thanks for the advise. We hv shortlisted 3 hotels so once out we are prepared to start discussing and we have the dates ready. Tink by March they shd be reay ba..hopefully!! *fingers cross cross*

Hi Pongy,

Which date are you looking at and the shortlisted hotels?
To my knowledge, Shangri-la has increased their tables rates by $250 to $300++ per table for 2009. Think could be due to the upcoming St Regis Hotel that just open last December?

Hi glamourous,
We are looking at Fullerton, Raffles and Four Seasons. Dunno why all three are not prepared to open for 2009 reservation. I was suspecting if it was due to the 2009 F1 season? Mayb the next reason could be what you mentioned, the St Regis Hotel...

Hi Pongy,

I'm not sure what's the exact reason though. Perhaps the public holidays in 2009 just got listed as well? However, to my knowledge, some hotels like Ritz Caltron, Shangri-La, Conrad, Rasa Sentosa and Oriental Hotel are open for bookings already for 2009. Which month is your wedding?

Hi glamorous,
My wedding month is in Oct. Hope that they do finalised the package soon... hope can settle the venue soon so that can take a load off me and concentrate on other things!!

as of now, their price still remains as those listed till march 09
no increase... but was told no tentative booking allowed..

I am a 2009 bride but have taken the package.
Sat wedding lunch, abt $845 per table.
My co-ordinator is Louis, pretty nice.Think they will be having a wedding show in Aug? but then the pricing would have changed.

those brides in straits room..can share with me wat other stuff did u ask for when u book with them???do drop me a mail or leave msg here...im planning to boook mine soone...asap kk..thanksss.

Hi piupiugoh,
Urs is ballroom or straits room? Mine is lunch at straits room and is at $788 per table. Woah i din noe got difference one..Btw, i'm also 2009 bride

Hihi,

Any Brides whom have previously hold their wedding @ the Fullerton in the ballroom? Care to share your experience regarding food/service?

Hihi,
I just found this forum and i think the information is really helpful here.

I have contacted 3 hotels. Raffles Hotel, Fullerton and Amara Sanctuary.
So far Raffles is the most accomodating. but i feel that the room is too old and small. i am deciding btw fullerton (straits room) and Amara.

Can share your experience at Fullerton? My gf told me the food sucks. she attended both corporate function and wedding banquet there before and told me the food is rly bad that the hotel agree to refund her company (for her company event) and fullerton that lady Sharon everything also non-negotiable!! which i feel that is it becos i have only 100 guests the total profit is not prominent thus she is giving us the couldnt be bother attitude. they are expensive and we are asking for things that most hotels are offering yet they are not agreeable. Pengs!
Amara on the other hand is more accomodating but after reading the forum i am afriad they might not honour their words! especially! when you are beign FORCED to share ballroom i think this is DAMN ridiculous.

Am in dilemma, hopefully you gals will be able to share more with me!!!

Cheers!

Hi, I had my wedding at Fullerton Ballroom last december. It was a marvellous experience for me and hubby. The ambience was superb. My banquet manager Mabel was very good. Her thoughtfulness was very much appreciated. She would always look at us from afar, and once she sense we needed help, she would be right next to us...

They are very professional with their service. They uphold a nothing can go wrong attitude. Mine was individual serving. My guests told me they were flattered to receive such good service. One guest kept changing seat cos he saw his friend at one table then he moved and the waiter followed him, whenever he moved, the waiter would bring his plate of food and drink to him. He was so amazed that he came to tell me.

As for food, I thought it was very good. All my guests said so. They told me the prawns were very good, dessert was yummy. Mine was Chinese Dinner, I not sure about western.
Given a choice to choose my wedding venue again, I would still choose Fullerton.

Hi all, I am happy to announce that I am going to be a fullerton bride. Will be having my ROM there in Oct 08 and my wedding dinner there in NOv 09. Co-ordinator is Sharon, the wedding sales manager.

Anybody having Sharon as a Co-ordinator? She's really inefficient and have this can't be bothered attitude. It is always hard to reach her and her when you do, she will only annoy you with sarcasm.

Anyone had such similar encounters?

I'm thinking of changing a co-ordinator since the wedding dinner is still a few months away and all that has been done is signing of the contract.

Shyann,

When was it that your gf attended the company dinner and wedding banquet? Fullerton is no longer under Tung Lok for banquet, they have brought in their own chef. I've tasted for myself and it's good. There's freshness in every bite.

I have to agree with what you say about Sharon though, she is unhelpful and do everything by the book.

It makes me wonder if she is just being difficult of what. But whatever it is, she should have put it in a nicer way instead of saying "NO" for everything.

Hi dart, sharon's my co-ordinator for my ROM and AD. My impression is that for both my AD and ROM, i cldnt negotiate for anything but did not have any problems so far dealing with her. She even offer to get some for anti blister moisturiser for my feet (and said she'll leave it at the concierge for me to pick up once she has done so) just in case I have trouble with my shoes. She was also nice enough to hold the ballroom for me (though this was not the hotel's policy anymore) for my viewing when she found out there was another couple (under another co-ordinator) who was eyeing the room (for their AD on the same day) (I kinda felt bad abt it though).

I asked her abt the finalisation of details for the events but according to her, she'll only contact us 2 months b4 the event cos between her n her colleague, they have like 100 odd couples to work with.

Is ur AD the first event u are having with her? I did feel the same as u on the first encounter with her but eventually came to think that she is quite ok after talking to her for a few times.

Just like Shyann has mentioned, everything is non-negotiable. She told us that she will email or call us but never did on time and it happens for a few time already. First encounter was bad and so was the second.

IMO, she is bit tactful with the way she does things. Simpy a no for everything which really does not makes sense to me at all.

yes dart, I do agree that everything is not negotiable. I gave up on trying for my AD. Maybe the hotel knows that since they r rather reputable and highly sought after, they have the right to say no (since if u are not comfortable with them n refuse to sign with them, someone else wld probably be dying to do so)? but frankly, what made you sign with them in the first place?

Shyann, can I just ask what your friend's company negotiated for?

Hihi to all,

I am not sure what was the negotiation btw the company and the hotel. initially i told her i was choosing among, fullerton, raffles hotel and amara sanctuary so was asking opinions from my gfs to see how are the food. that how i got comments from 1 gf who said she ate 3 times and all 3 times sucks that set me n my htb worried. but when i read this forum so far there wasnt much complain on the food except a few entries that stated negative comments for the ballroom. thus since i am using the straits room i hope it was otherwise.

nevertheless i still made my booking with fullerton cos of 1 simple reason the straits room was simply hard to resist. and by gg to fullerton i compromise a garden solemnisation.

As for Sharon she was quite ok after awhile.

I guess for us, wedding is only ONCE thus we hope our planner / coordinator / even BS side can give us more personal touch so that we will feel more assured that everything will be going on smooth.

popprincesstrin, it was the straits room that drew us to it. Another reason is, as the wedding was decided at the very last min, our options are limited.

We don't even mind paying to get the whole ballroom at St Regis which is a whooping 40K.
But the thing here is, money can't buy the fact that most ballrooms are not available already.

What i like about the Straits Room:

1) High ceilings
2) Chandeliers
3) Walls

What i do not like:

1) The door behind the stage
2) The carpet
3) The bar area before the door to the Straits Room.
4) The cabinets right beside the first entrance from the lift

Overall, it is still okay. It looks good at night. When you are there in the day, everything looks plain. That's because of the lightings coming in from both window frames and the white interior. And that makes you draw attention to the carpet you are stepping on, because it is of a dull dark colour.

Oh yes, the straits room is lovely. Sharon tried to sell me that for my ROM but I wasn't inviting that many pple to use the room. It was too small for my AD too so it was quite a pity.

I seriously hope that you caught her at the wrong timings that's why she was so tactless otherwise, I wld be extremely upset if I were you.

In my humblest opinion, I guess it's better to stick to her cos she's the manager for wedding sales and things need to go thru her so no point changing co-ordinator. SHe did tell me b4 that she'll only work out wedding details with the couple 2 months b4 the wedding unless of course, there are certain issues such as not wanting to discuss wedding stuff during 7th month etc. Sometimes she does forget to reply emails (at least she doesnt forget appointments unlike a co-ordinator from a particular hotel who tried to shove the blame to me -- so I am quite thankful that she is not so idiotic) so perhaps u want to give her a gentle nudge?

Hi Dart, how was the package at St Regis? and how does the ballroom looks like? my htb like st regis (by the branding) :P

So Dart and popprincesstrin - when is your AD? everything pretty settled?

hey sirotan, my ad's on 271109. ROM will come first (011008). Havent settled a single thing for the lunch for ROM and dinner for AD hee hee.
St Regis sounds so nice!! I'll be paying 40 odd K for fullerton..

Poppinrincesstrin,

"I seriously hope that you caught her at the wrong timings that's why she was so tactless otherwise, I wld be extremely upset if I were you."

True enough about feeling upset, and about catching her at the wrong timings, i doubt. ten out of ten times, she sounded as though she was in a rush.

Said she will email, but she forgot, and not only that, she denies it making me seem like an impatient idiot bothering her every now and then.

Sirotan, what's your email add pm me so i can forward you the package. The St Regis ballroom is not too bad, i'll say it's the branding that people are going for if they decides to use St Regis.

dear dart, how many more months do u have b4 ur big day? i have sort of given up on asking her anything pertaining the both my ROM and AD and will only do so 2 months b4 (cos she said we'll only work on tt 2 months b4 e event) so i guess if i wait till then, she probably has to give me her fullest attention. Perhaps if ur big day is b4 one of my events I can let u know how everything went with her?

It will be after your ROM, so that means you will be liasing with her earlier then me. I hope she really gives the full attention you deserve. It's your big day she's planning afterall.

Hi hi to all..
I'm really keen to have my wedding at Fullerton..but as mentioned by a few of you, Sharon has been very non-negotiable, esp when it came to the beverage. the standard package only includes "either 2 barrels of beer OR 1 wine per table". then she said wine cockage is $30++, hard liquor $40++. if want buy wine from them is $42++. she refused to waive any cockage and or give even a few free bottles of wine. can any of you who have signed ur wedding at fullerton share with me on this? any of you managed to convince fullerton to give you some discount off the cockage or free bottles of wine?

Hey venus, my co-ordinator is Sharon. Basically, I am quite satisfied with the package that comes with the wedding dinner as it is very comprehensive as compared to comparable hotels (although I must admit that the drinks are definitely insufficient and most likely the couple wld have to buy many other bottles). I believe the only time u'll prob get discounts off corkage or free wine will be during the bridal show (which will happen I dunno when). Frankly, fullerton is a popular venue for corporate events and weddings (if the couple can afford it) and thus I think they have no need to dangle carrots in front of clients to make them the choice venue since there wld be pple who will want to host their events there.

Frankly I think it'll be quite unfair to clients if other clients manage to negotiate for more stuff since the price we're paying is somewhat the same (e.g. I pay abt 1400+ for a table and I have to meet a requirement of 35 tables if i am not wrong). I think I will be dead upset if someone else got freebies and I didnt (what's more, I'm a repeat client). Most of the comparable hotels dun throw in discounts and freebies anyway!

In a way, I felt that it was quite fair since she made it clear that the package is not negotiable. To be fair, Sharon is a really nice and sweet lady anyway

Hi hi, my co-ordinator is also Sharon. She came across as having a 'don't waste my time attitude' when I first spoke to her but after awhile, she's okay. Just need to talk and joke with her more
happy.gif

so lucky!!!! i need to wait so much longer than u! i'll be having my ROM at the same place in Oct08. i am so ks to the extent I got my favours ready already!

Hi all. My HTB and I just went down to Fullerton yesterday and we were very impressed by the ballroom and the package extended to us. Before going down, I read on the forum that Sharon might be an unpleasant person to work with, but after my interaction with her, I think she's a great coordinator!

She does try to accommodate our requests and some things (eg. complimentary carpark coupons, rooming, etc) are open to negotiation although they are quite fixed on their alcohol policies. My HTB and I have given verbal agreement to hold our banquet at Fullerton already. And we're so excited
happy.gif
YEAH!

Hi Grease, take Sharon, since she have the final say for most of the things compared to the rest of the coordinators. Fullerton's a very beautiful place, hope you'll like it as much as i do.

thanks dart. i heard there are a few others there too from a friend of mine who is planning to hold her ad there. I have seen alot of review here about Sharon. don't know if i can still go to her.. ;(

Hi. Can anyone share the 2009 package for the Ballroom with me? I am a bit confused. Is the minimum table requirement for saturday 35 or 40? The website says 40. But someone told me 35... ???

hi all

i m so agitated becos i couldnt set myself firmly for fullerton. I like it very much but could net get a sunday as it will be cheaper.
Also my HTB is concern abt the ballroom. It kinds of look old. What should i do ?

And also i m concern abt the food and ambience. The ballroom seems old ..

Any one can share hows the food in fullerton and its deco?

hey grease, I agree with dart. Go for Sharon cos she has the final say. there are benefits working with her frankly instead of the rest (u'll realise quite fast!) although u may also realise that it's not easy to negotiate for this and that but she's nice enough to bend the rules here and there.

hey angel it's 35 confirmed. u want to leave me with ur email so tt i can send u the package?

hey dart, she has finally called me for my event. She added that she'll b v busy for F1 next month. Hope she calls you really soon for urs!

HiHi. Thanks popprincesstrin. I called them today and confirmed that it's 35 tables. They have emailed me the package. Oh my... the pricing is quite steep really. But good thing is that they did not increase the price for end of year banquets which other hotels frequently do. It will work out to be abt 140 per pax for the cheaper menu and nearly 150 per pax for the more ex one. Any idea if they do individual serving or the lazy-susan kind? Is the food good? The menu looks quite interesting though. The ballroom doesn't look old... don't worry. The place is only 6 years old. Just that it may be a bit too narrow and long. Any of you have any idea if they are willing to provide u with a place to hold solemnisation and tea ceremony for free?

Hey popprincesstrin, oh my.. Must be hard trying to get her during this period. I bet you must be feeling really excited about it! As much as i do, seems like i still have alot on my TO DO list.

Lena, I've tried their food. The new chef is good, the way he presented his food is very good to me. Most of the decorative items he used are edible.
Deco wise, i like the heritage feel and Fullerton's got what i want.

As for the ballroom, i believe it's actually the flooring that makes it look a tad old. I feel that the place looks different when you're viewing at night, nicer then when it's brightly litted.

You don't have to get Fullerton is you don't fancy it, there are alot new ballrooms now in other hotels. Say, Amara Sanctuary, St Regis so on and so fourth. Fullerton's nice but because it's a very much protected heritage, you'll face alot of restrictions that you might find yourself not wanting to comply if you do not like the place very much to really want to hold the wedding there.

Angel, they have the garden at one of the level but i don't know if they allow you to hold it for free. It's an indoor garden and the area is rather small. You can also call them up and ask to view the place.

hey dart! i think she's rather busy but i think at least she bothered to talk to me for close to 30min which i am really appreciative for! WHen's ur AD? hee hee I like the heritage feel of fullerton too!

hey angel, I'm having my ROM there separately at fullerton, not on the actual day (ROM this yr, AD next yr). Guess you can request to have ur food served individually
happy.gif

my hubby and i went to their hotels to stay during our 1st valentine day. So really interested to hold our AD there. So anyone have their pricing? i intend to have it on 2010. so thinking of taking the price as reference. the minimum table is 35? can it go lower? do they have smaller ballrooms? i thinking of getting 25 - 30 tables only. wonder if they allows?

The price for weekend next yr is abt $1168 (for Heritage) $1238 (for palladian menu) for sats, eve of public hols and public hols. The minimum is 35 cos u'll be using the grandballroom which comprises of Ballrooms 1, 2 and 3. I think for wedding dinner they will sell only the grand ballroom. If you cant meet the min. number of tables, you'll need to meet the min revenue of 35x 1168 or 35x1238 for the event. There's another room that is lovely and that's the straits room but it can only hold a max of 12 tables
