The Fullerton Hotel Singapore

I have gone down to view the Straits Room and realize they only have one projector and screen right in front. As I am holding a wedding lunch, would the daylight be too bright for people (esp at the back) to see the screen?

I also held my wedding lunch at Straits room. The blinds can be pulled down if the sunlight are too bright.

But when the guests are getting seated, and the video or pictures montage is playing on the screen, I guess the guests will not be able to see? Would it be funny to keep pulling the blinds up and down?

Held my wedding lunch at the Straits Ballroom last weekend and it was amazing! Lovely ballroom and cosy vibes made all the guests comfortable. Service was perfect and the banquet manager was very professional and caring. Never regret holding my wedding there, it was very memorable.

Hi all! I'm planning to hold my wedding dinner at the Straits Room in Nov 2016 and was wondering if any recent brides have feedback on the default venue decoration options? I feel like the default decor is too generic for me so I'd like to at least customize the colour scheme but when I tried to raise this with the wedding coordinator, she said that I'd be better off speaking with the florist directly. I feel like I'm a little kan chiong since the wedding is still a year away, but I want to know how much funds to set aside for the wedding decor. If I can't get what I want from the in-house florist, I'll have to start looking for external ones early to get price quotes so I can allocate my budget properly.

I'm also a little concerned about the lighting. I'm under the impression that the main light source will be from the chandeliers so I don't know if everything is going to be too dim. Most of the Straits Room wedding pictures that I've seen are wedding lunches so the room can be lit by the natural light from the windows. I don't particularly need the room to be bright, but don't want the lighting to be so bad that the pictures don't turn out well.

Any feedback would be lovely! :)

What kind of deco are you thinking? I asked my coordinator the same question and got the same reply. When is your AD?

Right now I've managed to get Fullerton to do a soft booking for us on 19th Nov 2016 for dinner. We originally wanted to tie the knot on 12th Nov (12 is a special number for us) but they're already booked for lunch and dinner.

I want a fairytale inspired wedding so I was thinking of a romantic theme with alice in wonderland inspired elements. I've been building up my pinterest board with ideas (lol) so I'm playing with the idea of having some vintage books and / or romantic victorian teapots to be part of the table centrepieces. I thought that maybe I could provide the florists with the props for each table, but I don't know if they'll be alright with it. Also, I don't know if Fullerton allows us to have candles on the table.

I know that I definitely want an aisle runner to go down the centre of the room as well, but I don't know if they can provide that or if I'll have to source my own.

On that day, the blinds are closed throughout my wedding as it was too glaring so my banquet manager has pulled down half of the window only with some sunlight in. No issues on my montage. i watched my that day when preparing for my 2nd march in.

Hello everyone! Just wondering if any one signed up for The Ballroom dinner packages recently? Is it possible to share your package and perks with me? Thank you!

@hannistellar It can be done. You need topup the price difference by upgrading your menu, etc.
Eg. you need only 25 tables, the cost of the remaining 5 tables to be used to upgrade the other items in your package.

yup @hannistellar, u just need to pay min spend amount (equivalent of 30tables). can be for cost of canapés during cocktail, better menu, or additional room etc etc.. just some suggestions ;)

Some wedding coordinator advise to book the venue on the year itself- means not too early as there are still room for negotiation and may not be flexible. If u book in that same year as wedding they may give in to ur request. But the catch is u must be flexible with ur dates..

I was looking at nov 2017 and was told that my desired date was taken when I emailed them in dec 2015 :(

anyone has review of Fullerton's food? kinda worried when my friend told me that the food was just so-so.

Generally Fullerton is is not famous for their food. I attended my cousin's wedding a few years back and it was one of the worst I've tasted then (I'm no foodie). My cousin himself knew it wasn't great but the decor/ballroom/ambience etc made up for it. But that being said, it was a few years ago and they might have improved?

Which cuisine was it? Now I'm a little worried. We're opting for the Chinese set so the food will be prepared by Jade Restaurant. I guess a way to get an idea is to have a meal there? It won't be the same dishes, but it'll be an indication of the restaurant's quality.

Yea, I'll prob head down someday to try out the food. Now I'm worried too. I don't expect the food to be the best, but it has to be of a certain standard.

It was a Chinese cuisine but I'm not sure if it's prepared by the same restaurant (as it was a few years ago).

I'm not sure if they can fit 14 but you could probably ask anyway. I personally find 12 a bit cramped, but I think they could fit 14. Alternatively, I do know that the maximum number per table is 11, so with 12 tables, the maximum you can get is about 132 pax.

I see.. cool... so you mean it can be a table of 11? You had your wedding there le? ;)

Yup, you just need to pay for the extra person's share.

Not yet! I viewed the room twice; once during the initial site viewing and then when we went down to sign the contract. The first time, the room was set up for 8 tables and the second, there were 12 tables. Personally, I think 8 is just nice, because the 12 tables looked a bit cramped in comparison. I think there's still room for 2 more tables, but then the distance between each table will be very small. Still, the coordinator is very nice and responds very quickly so I'd suggest mailing her to ask!

I see.. That would be per pax cost right? hehee.. ok.. Now i am abit worry that it will look crampy. But I find that the one at fullerton is still more spacious compare to other hotels for small weddings. Feel kind of restricted to venues to hold a small wedding.

Floor Plan.JPG Floor Plan 12 tables.JPG

Just dug out the floor plans that Violette sent me. Based on the floor plan, I think it might not be possible to fit 14 tables after all. The only thing I can think of is to add tables down the middle aisle, but that would mean that you won't get to do a proper march in. Or you could do away with the stage... hmm.

Best thing I can think of would be to discuss it with the coordinator. Violette is very experienced, so I think she'd be in the best position to help you think of a solution. I do hope you manage to hold your wedding in the Straits Room. It's gorgeous and even prettier IRL!

Or you can consider Movenpick Hotel as well. The minimum table count is 12 tables, so your 14 tables should fit comfortably. It's quite pretty too and has a high ceiling.

We were initially considering Movenpick but we couldn't meet the minimum table count.

Straits room or Ballroom? Do u mind to share on their themes??

Straits room. I do not really like their themes for 2016. There are three themes: one very old fashion looking flower look, one garden look and pink roses look. I very much prefer their 2015 themes.

@Minkishly I emailed them my enquiry! They replied me with the details and you may wish to go to this website given by them: www.theweddingessentials.com.sg may I know you chose which room? I am quite excited to view their themes though :D

Ooh thanks so much! I'll have a chat with my coordinator for more details. I definitely want to see the themes in action so I can know what I want to top up for vs keep, hehe. My wedding will be in the Straits Room! Kinda sad that I'll be missing out on the perks, but I guess I wouldn't have been able to get my choice of date if I waited till now anyway.

Their themes aren't that great; I'll look for the photos in my computer and PM them to you so you can have a look. On the bright side, the room is very beautiful so it doesn't really need that much dolling up, thankfully.

Im hoping if they can come up with nicer themes! hmmmm

I missed out the wedding show last year :( only got to know the show when my coordinator told me when I signed up the banquet in Nov. Seems like the deal during last year's show was better - like free usage of their rolls royce car, $100 off per table.
