Solemnisation at Raffles House (Fort Canning): Share Rental Cost

Hi everyone,

My WTB and I are thinking of holding a wedding solemnisation at <font color="ff0000">Raffles House</font> at Fort Canning. When we saw the place, we immediately feel in love with it. It really matches our ideal location as it has a colonial feel with an easy atmosphere to it. The good thing is that its surrounded by greenaries! And the windows and doors have see through glasses for you to absorb the atmosphere, making it a perfect place for us. (BTW: For those of u whom are afraid of hot weather like me, air-con is readily available. Thank God!)

Perfect the place may be, alas it has way exceeded our budget. Thus we are trying to look for a couple whom might want to share the location with us.

Our solemnisation will be from <font color="ff0000">morning till 3pm</font>. We will be able to clean up the place by then. You will be able use it from <font color="ff0000">3pm till 11~12pm.</font>

The interior of the house is 13.5m x 7.5m. The staff there said we can also make use of the 2 garden areas just outside the function room.

The rental fee is now <font color="ff0000">$1890</font> for full day. We're thinking of splitting it up evenly.

So if someone is looking to use the Raffles House at night but find it too expensive, please do PM me. We can try to work something out.

Yup..Too bad. Its only a week different.

I'm also looking for catering. I must say its been a little challenging looking for caterers. Mostly because their response time a little slow. I suppose I can't compare them with hotel efficiency. Perhaps we can share notes on catering for Raffles House!
 
hi, can i find out more about the raffles house? i tried to look for pics online but couldnt find any .. how about other areas at fort canning park? how many people can the raffles house accommodate?

My htb and I have booked Raffles House on 20 Sept 2009 for our solemnisation. As the rental is for the whole day, we are thinking of renting the outdoor to another couple who is interested to do their solemnisation in the morning. Email me at [email protected] if you are interested.

I fell in love with the raffles house @ fort canning park too!! It's the perfect location for my solemnisation, the only thing that's holding me back is the price.
The rental fee is now $1,926 for a weekend for the full day, from 11am-11pm.

It would be great if we could find someone interested to share the house with us on the 12th or 13th of September 2009???
We want to have a buffet lunch and would therefore want to use is the first half of the day till 4pm. So it would be available from 4~5pm till 11pm.

The raffles house is only available for rental till the end of 2009 and will then be closed for renovation. So I hope we can be one of the lucky couples that can still have our solemnisation there before they close... :-)

We are looking at renting out the venue in the morning.
 
Raffles House do not provide projector/mic.. toilet is quite far.. &amp; for elder is not advisable as there are alot of walk to be done.
 
hui'er>> yeap, quite true that toilet is far.. i think for small functions, projector and mic not really needed? cos' the place actually not very conducive as there is no screens.
 
joyle, there are actually screens, quite a few infact. they're rolled up just a the top of the doors. They have a sound system there too, just that you'll prob have to bring your own projector though

wonder if this thread is still active..im having my wedding solemnisation done there too next year. anyone has any contacts for a tentage supplier and decorator? if they can provide halal food as well would be awesome.
 
hi STAH, no one has fed any info to me through this forum yet...so far i have already booked the house, the wedding planner/decor...they have experience with the venue, thats why i selected them. unfortunately, tentage cost is really higher than expected (why ah???) and so far we are leaving it to the wedding planner to find tentage for us to accomodate the buffet line and extra seating in the garden...
