i was like u b4 my trial makeup session...din like the idea of having fake lashes (tot they'll make me look like fox spirit aka Berlinda Lee..). but i changed my mind after i saw hw gd it looks on photos (especially side view)

Gin uses multiple pieces of 2-3 fake lash on each eye..they make my lashes fuller and longer, looks very nice and natural in pics. and i asked Gin to trim off the lashes a little so it looked less overwhelming for my AD makeup. i had full fake lashes on my PS though..

my AD makeup is lighter than PS makeup but heavier than trial makeup. by right shld be as heavy as PS one but i scared my friends and relatives wun recognise me so i requested Gin to do lighter a bit. trial makeup sessions r for u to get a feel of ur MUAs skills and style, and also an apportunity for u to communicate wat u prefer. for me, i wanted a purple eye shadow but the trial one came out quite bluish on photos so i sms Gin and told her about it, she said she knew wat to do liao...and on my PS day, she gave me real purple eye shadows, i looked fantastic on all my PS pics hee.
oh, and trial first also make sure u dun get problems like wat hapict had encountered, wrong makeup tat smudges on u...

first fitting usually is juz trying on the plain WG without most of the embellishments on. the purpose is to see the fit of the gown on ur body. it's best to bring ur AD heels along for fittings so u can see the effect of the gown on u with the actual height...the embellishments will go on during ur 2nd fit and tats the best time to hv ur trial makeup coz the MUA can gv u a look to match the color and style of ur gowns

now is still sep, if there's no major issues with the fit of ur gowns, u shld be able to make it for a dec shoot..but isn't it rainy season by then?

thanks for the informative post! =) altho dec period is the rainy season, wanted to maximise my leave for next year and plus got to use up my leave for this year (by dec) so can't carry forward at all. plus places in Singaproe will alos be decorated nicely for christmas too =)..
guess we probably got to see the weather then.

why dun u do the PS in mid/late Nov? maybe the monsoon rain hasn't start yet...the Xmas lites will be on then. wah u intend to sit on the open-top double decker issit?
 
oh ya, rainy season got other issues to consider also...ur PG must be ok to do outdoor shoots on another day FOC if it rains, and ur MUA will charge u for one extra makeup. and then that precious WG of urs may be ruin by the water..

i've signed with O Studio and if i'm not wrong, they don't charge for another day if it happens to rain during the PS. As for MU, Gin's my MUA- guess have to check with SIL on this. Thanks for the advice!

Guess have to wait till my first fitting to see how things go.. can't wait!

hey, we've got the same PS & MUA hehehe.

ya, O-studio doesn't charge extra for seperate day outdoor shoot if raining. this one i'm very sure. as for Gin, she does charge $100+ for extra makeup session, u need to check with her the rates..u can ask her during ur trial makeup session

my sis also duno how to help me cos she says ampoule doesnt apply on eyelids...apparently the ampoule helps.n i sweat v easily. just tat the mascara really smudges for me no matter wat brand or how expensive..thinkin of askin her to put fake eyelashes n do without mascara. also i absolutely hate it when she puts on eye makeup for me. so petrified my contact lenses will drop off when she was curlin my lashes or go up my eyelids. it happened b4 when i rubbed my eyes etc. seriously considering wearin glasses durin PS when not takin photos..but MUA said then i will squint n tat's not gd. dilemma..
 
hapict better dont wear glasses. I used to have a classmate who dont wear glasses when she is not in the class. so she will squint and cannot even tell who is who when we call her from far. At first we thought she is blur, but later on then we know she ai swee so dont want to wear glasses coz i think that time she is saving up to buy contact.

unless u can be sure when taking pics u will open ur eyes big big. I never wear contact so not sure, can u wear them after all the make up is done. so u dont have to worry drop out or anything run into your eyes.
 
Hi all, I've emailed Silhouette and i was told that they do not have a package. Is that true? I was told that they would tailor a package to your needs...can anyone send me their package so that at least I have a rough idea what is included and the estimated cost? Thanks!

ya, Sil does not hv fixed pkgs. they let u choose wat u want from a list of services provided...juz like wat u do when u go for ala carte buffet, u choose from a range of dishes in a menu.

normal price range with MTM WG, EG, man suit, flowers, makeup & PG is around $5-5.5k. mine is more ex becoz i wanted french laces and hand embroidery done overseas..

Hi Rinnie, they quoted me $5800, including the stuff that Midas had. French laces and hand embroidery as well (not sure if done overseas as they didn't say).

Because they quote based on the gown (details and materials are considered) chosen, it's 1 single price only and you are unable to break down the single items. When I probe further, even if you subsequently request to take individual items out, the cost reduction is very minimal. For eg. MTM to OTR reduce only $500, Chris Ling's Kelvin to Ave 8's Bernard cut only $200.

P.S. This is a quote only, I haven't signed up with them.

for embroidery on tulle material, it'll be done overseas...coz there's very few vendors in spore tat can do embro on both sides of the fabric..unlike satin, it's not translucent so does not required to embroider both sides. for organza, i understand its machine sewn and can be done locally

they hv two overseas vendors, 1 in india n 1 in philipines, mine is done in philipines..

do you know how much does O studio charge for additional pictures (apart from those included in the package)?

Was thinking whether to make an additional suit for FH from SIL- any idea of how much do i need to top up?

kinda sad if i have 3 changes (WG, EG and teadress) and my FH only have 1 suit =(

O-studio charges $70 per additional pics, but if u select a lot of pics can nego for lower price...i paid $50/pic for my 100 extra pics

i think Sil charges $400-500 per suit. but also may need to top up depending on the materials used...why dun u ask whether they can loan u a 2nd suit for PS/AD? juz like ur Kua...
 
Thanks Midas, received your mail le..saw that Silhouette having some event and I submitted my details already..apparently, they will showcase their gowns on weekdays during sept and oct..by invitation only..so now waiting whether they'll select me or not..if not, den I'll prob pop by with my bf next mth..
 
oh but SIL suit may not have ur hubby size, coz i know this not so cheena bridal shop they dont recommend rental of suit. But u can check with them.

blurBTB my designer told me that althought same suit but once u change the shirt inside it will give u a different look like change another suit already. Maybe u can try that.

Sil charges $400 got an additional suit, i asked my designer that too coz like u, wanted my FH to hv 1 more suit. but i think it'll be much cheaper to make one by an outside tailor. just need to find a good one of coz. =) by the way, whó's ur designer? i made an additional teadress on top of my WG n EG too!

hi midas, any idea how many MUA Sil tie up with? do you normally request to see their work or will ur designer receommend a MUA for u depending on the design of ur gowns or the look that u're goin for?

Sil has about 5-6 MUAs. got freddy, amy, justina...blah blah..and mine is Gin. i chose my own MUA. coz saw gd reviews about her in tis thread and saw the makeup she did for a Sil brides at O-studio. Very gd. so i told Miah to book her for me. and i nvr regret my choice till now

if u cant decide then ur designer will decide for u...not based on gowns but based on the MUA's schedule (whether they r available on ur AD) as well as the customer's character (fussy or not, or blur blur duno wat they want) so u can click with the MUA selected for u. the makeup can be customised by the MUA to match ur gowns, all MUA shld be able to do tat..

i did it at zion creations. it's located at golden landmark.

actually i wanted to buy OTR. the designer (Lorraine) quoted me $250 plus $15 alteration. However, the CS was quite big so even if i altered it, it may not look that nice.. fortunately she had extra cloth to make one MTM and was very kind to MTM at the same price as her OTR. so the MTM CS is the same design as the OTR.

Haven't collected the CS yet.. maybe i'll post a picture if you're interested?
 
blurBTB ya. maybe bring my mother n MIL there to make one too. If the design i like maybe make CS myself too.

when r u collecting ur CS?
 
Hello Midas and Sil brides

I am going for my trial makeup + fitting tomorrow.
Is it ok for me to take pictures of myself in my gown+ makeup so that I can show my family? Also would it be a right time to ask Minda to book my PG date with Robin?

Pls advise me what other things I have to look out for as my last visit to Minda was to choose and pay deposit for my OTR gown back in May 06.

Very impressed with their range of gowns since my visit last weekend.
 
CG I think they will take pic of you also. I know u can take pic of your gown once u pay up for most designer. hahaha
Before that cannot coz they worried u will take their design n go to others. U can ask them what u are not sure about. I didnt do PG so i think midas will know better.

Oops i am not SIL bride so can i give suggestion?
 
Hi CG,

you should be able to take pics (you're their customer!) and book your PG with robin. cos when i went down to discuss my evening gown design, i also booked my PG with O studio at the same time =)
 
I can't remember where exactly I got that info from..was just clicking those pop-ups in Singapore brides forum..maybe u can try to click or go to the sg brides home page...but they haven't gotten back to me yet....

ermm...u shld hv booked the PG once u hv a date in mind already, call minda quickly!

for fitting with trial makeup, wear a front button top, coz u'll do makeup first b4 putting on the gowns. ur hairdo will be ruin if u hv to take of ur blouse over ur head..and dun put on any makeup on tat day, juz some sun screen after ur cleansing regime. by the way, who's ur MUA?

thanks ladies for all the kind advice. I took lots of pictures to show my sisters and mom and they were pleasantly surprised that I could be " transformed" from a tomboy to a princessy looking bride. ha ha
