Silhouette the Atelier

Hi Coco, just want to share our experience with you. At first sight, my husband and I fell in love with Silhouette’s glamorous designs while flipping through bridal magazines. We were walk in customers and were sold there and then. And even till now, I had been extremely happy with their service. No complaints about the team at all.

I wasn't an easy bride =P, with rather HIGH expectations of my gowns. I have my own idea of what I want yet I am indecisive and unsure of whether it will look good on me. Kenji, my designer was extremely patient and professional to go all out to design something that is outstanding and fits perfectly. The other designers we see (not sure their names) are always smiling and ever so helpful to help to dress or undress. Through the team, I also got to know the most talented make up artist, tailor, florist, make-up artist for moms and jeweler around. =)) ask them for contacts if you need any! Trust they will only give u the best.

Gin was my make up artist for both my solemnization and actual day. She’s super popular. If you like her have to book your dates with her early. Like you, I was pretty worried at the start. Not sure if I can “click†with her. Thank god she was easy going and friendly. We built a lot of rapport and she even help to soothe my nerves before the march-in. ha-ha! The make up, she did for me, really enhanced my features and hid my flaws. A lot of my relatives actually noticed and raved about how great her make up skills were. =))

thanks chiharu, got it

Hi Chiharu, may I also take a look at your photos?

I am currently a Silhouette bride too, and at my make up artist is not confirmed yet. May I know if we 'select' our preferred make up artist, or is he/she 'assigned' to us by the designer?

Thanks!

hi lovely Sil brides! i'm back from my trip! tiring 1 week but had loads of fun and awesome trip up to twelve apostles. didn't do any photos there thank goodness! wind was whipping and it was very cold!

anyways still catching up on the new posts and saw the discussion regarding the gowns. FYI my gown is not brand new, i.e. another bride has worn it before. it was also the advert pic of the exact same gown that attracted me to Silhouette. this was not pushed to me .. i specifically asked for this design and was told upfront it's not new and already gone into storage. it's after trying several design, i couldn't find any and i still had this gown in my mind. when it was brought over to amoy st branch for me to try, i love it the minute i put it on. in the end, i change the tulle skirting for the dress to suit my liking.

anyways .. here's one preview shot of my Silhouette *lol*

dear silhoutte brides to be!

do u mind sharing your package with me? I've yet to make an appt with them, but i find their gowns very pretty...just want to set my budget expectation right for a sil gown. you can send me a message at [email protected]

thanks!

Dear silhouette btbs,

I really really like the gowns from silhouette too. I intend to go down to the shop within the next few weeks. However, i am not sure what r the price ranges and what i should expect to get. If u don't mind sharing ur package with me, pls send me a message at [email protected]

pinkglove> i kept the AD gown only to the church and the outside of it. the train is a lil bit dirty with leaves and grass caught up in the tulle. but i was careful not to get grass stains on it. I think kenji's intention is to help me trim off the edge of the gown cause the lining's too long anyway.

just managed to shrink down another photo

Hi ladies, my advice is to ask for the portfolios of the makeup artists and see for yourself if you like the technique of the makeup artist. The most popular MUA may not do the best job on your features. Like many of you, I blindly selected a certain MUA purely based on forum feedback. I didn't ask to see the portfolio. Unfortunately, I really didn't like the MUA's technique. Whatever ideas I had for my hair/makeup was also rejected by her. However, I still went ahead with her doing my makeup for my shoot and I deeply regretted it. Lucky for me, I managed to engage another MUA and we clicked instantly. She even gave me many valuable feedback and tips. I have more confidence in her.

I am not trying to slam or criticise the particular MUA, but it is true that the most popular artist may not be the best candidate for us. We should choose based on our preferences and chemistry, not just based on forum feedback. Hope you ladies can learn from my lesson. ;)

Hi Verspertine, I totally agreed with what u said. Both hands and legs up! I also regretted choosing my MUA based on forum feedbacks. The hairstyle and makeup she did for me is not as fanastic as it claimed to be. Yes, to all BTB, the most popular MUA recommended may not be the best candidate for you. Is back to the basic, just like wat works for u, may not works for others and wat others like, may not be wat u like. So if any one of u have a particular MUA in mind, please check her works out first..

Hi All, I was married about 2 months ago and I must say that I am so blessed to have the BEST bridal gown designer and makeup artist to help me look my BEST at my pre wedding shoot and actual wedding day. My designer is Kenji and my makeup artist is Gin.
happy.gif
Kenji has been really really patient with me and he is very good with translating my ideas into reality. He picks up my likes n dislikes very fast and can definately deliver!!! Always professional, polite and super super patient.
happy.gif
He definately has the knack to turn your look from good to wow!
happy.gif
Gin is superb too!
happy.gif
I was so confident that she could do a good job that I skipped my trial makeup session. However, she took the initiative to meet up with me at my last fitting session before the pre wedding photography so that she can check out my gowns and give me advise on areas where I can improve. If it weren't for her, I would have turned up on the pre wedding shoot day without a mani n padi, without the right coloured hair and super dry n cracked lips. That wouldn't have been a pretty sight. The great thing was her advise turned out super!
happy.gif

Btw, I forgot to add... Gin did an AMAZING job at my pre wedding shoot and actual wedding day. I received soooooo many compliments about my makeup and hair (and the gowns too!)!!!
happy.gif
The makeup was very well done, natural and really brought out the BEST in me. She took a lot of effort to match the hairstyle, fascinator and makeup to achieve the look that I was looking for (to match the GORGEOUS gowns... Thank God, it worked out so well! Am really blessed to have both Kenji and Gin's help!). As I was busy editing and finalising my speech during my 2nd change, I couldn't look up straight at the mirror (head was tilting down to look at the paper and scribble my notes). But, she was really nice, she didn't wanna disturb me so she did my hair quietly. When I looked up, I was seriously wow-ed by the transformation!
happy.gif
So glad tt she is so skillful!!!

Hi Cocotintin, apologies, as my hubby is not comfy with pic sharing (though I am okies). I won't be able to send it to you. However, you can always check out Gin's works at her website, gintan.shutterfly.com. Hope this helps!

just to update.... things finally settle down... i went back to try on the evening gown style and we finally found one that suit my figure.. i think the designer is so afraid that the second piece will not turn up well that she got so many gown ready that she believes will suit me best for me to try on.. am glad and appreciate the effect spend.. hopefully by the next appointment things will go on smoothly... haha

Hi laceyblink & beebee,i'm new here ,thinking wanna to go Sil soon ,which showroom should i go if i wanted to see more gowns ?

yeni: i think no harm going to both branches to take a look at the WG. Both branches carry just as much gowns and Stamford house u can see some of their EG but their EG comes in MTM in their package.
my designer is kenji frm amoy.

I've been to both branches over the past two weeks. I think the designs at amoy are more simple and elegant and the designs at stamford house are more elaborate and princessy. I am looking for a poofy tulle ball gown type of WG. I found my dream gown at stamford cos stamford has more poofy tulle gowns. But i have not signed the package with them. Cos i was quoted nearly 4.3k for the OTR package. Plus 800 for the tulle gown and if i make changes to the top, it will cost me 5.3k. Since my wedding date is still a yr away, i will haf to wait for upcoming wedding fairs or promotions. =( If any btbs happen to know when sil will haf promotion, do inform me. Thanks.

Hi cocotin: if we just walk pass w/o appt, are they mind coz i can't fix an appt...busy for workleh. Hi bebele :did you try before ? i'm thinking wanna OTR too but wondering can't find the most suitable one...MTM so ex !

hello yeni.

Yup i tink i tried about 5 gowns at stamford. The gowns were all my size and the designs were very nice too. I think it is ok to take OTR. I think you can just edit the top to make it more suited to your size and taste. I must say the quality and designs of the gowns at silhouette is really good. My htb was very against sil at first cos we went to a few other bridal shops that make tulle gowns and they charge at least 1-2k cheaper. However, after i went to try the gowns, he also agreed that sil's is the best. But i dun want him to have a huge damage in his pockets so i must 'ren' and wait till there is promotion. sob sob.

hi girls, taking OTR allows u to modify the top slightly. eg. u can request to add more crystals/beading on the top part. but of coz not excessively. So not necessarily must follow closely to the design on the rack.

yeni: if ur free on a weekday afternoon, u can try to pop by and take a look but if they are attending to someone else, they might not be able to give u their attention. It will be best if u call to make a appt with them.

yeni: i think bebelee has already share the package price in her post above. The package will include a OTR WG, trial, day and night make up, hand bouquet, MTM EG and MTM mens suit. U can also engage some photographers whom they tie up with to enjoy special rates for PS.

actually I think my package is way over le... but it is still worth it.. Initially, I took the OTR WG and MTM EG.. But in the end, I just want to be special, so I just told her I want MTM WG and EG... so I just let it all out! It is very very fun to research on your desired WG and see it coming to life!! The designer is actually more excited than I was...

anyway, I finally tried on my 2nd EG.. It was really good! She really go all the way to make sure it fits nicely and stands out even though it is dark blue in color! hahah!

hi babes

just wondering anyone managed to bargain down SIL price? cos its rather pricey, and when i spoke to the boss, seems like she's pretty reluctant to make any changes to the package and price
sad.gif

so wanna chk if anyone managed to bargain down the price.
happy.gif

Hi phylline,

its quite difficult to bargain down their prices, but in terms of gown design, they are quite flexible? My package was 6K cuz of full lace MTM gown w tulle, but Caroline is ok with adding on bling/sequinns and other extra work involved.

Hi Chiharu, do you mind sending me picures of your gown, and makeup esp? Am gonna decide on my MUA soon! thanks!!

Hi Vespertine, can share with me the 2 MUAs that you mentioned? Thanks!

Pls email me at [email protected]..

happy.gif

Hi Sil brides, will like to check if anyone took OTR for their EG? Is there a wide range to choose from? Was at Amoy branch recently and did not see a range of EG inshop. Just wondering did most bride had MTM EG instead? TIA
happy.gif

Jovanka: Most btb MTM their EG as this is in the standard package many of the btb sign up for. I dont remember seeing Amoy branch bringing in OTR EG but I have seen it at the Stamford branch before. Not a wide collection though
