Chocolate, yes only for VIP and bridal table. They will plate the food out in the kitchen then serve to the 2 tables. If all guests individually plated, then they need lotsore staff on the kitchen to help plate and also to serve. It it also more time consuming. Imagine they take 15 mins to all 30 tables. But then if individually serve they will need at least 5 times that time for each course. Chinese dishes are cooked as a bug plate in the kitchen then to plate out a dish into 10 portion. That is a lot more time and manpower needed.

As for the piano, last time think they don't allow until you rent it. You can try to ask. But from experience, no one will pay attention to the pianist during cocktail.

LOL!!! Yah the piano is just a nice backdrop.. all the guests there so noisy cannot really hear the piano also. *can see frm my pics got so many ppl lol*

Sokeai: oh im ur friend there alr! Later I add you to La Belle FB page also. hehe.. Well you have to outright ask for invitation I guess. I feel that is the best place to see the themes, the size of the ballroom etc..

I feel dun need to top up.. really waste the $. LOL

btw how come both you and ur fiancee chose Regent? very "nan de" guys will come onto bridal forum to research.. u muz dote on ur fiancee alot hehe! thumbs up! ^-^ most guys wont do that lor.. haha

Anyone liase with Larrina for their wedding? I think she'll be my coordinator. I'll be meeting her probably next week. Is there any perks that I should look out for? 1st time..no experience..haha..

Me. She's good. You can ask for free corkage (if you bring your own wine), extra wine (if you take the wine from Regent), extra parking coupons.
If you have solemnization before hand, you need to specify how many ppl will attend the solemnization so that she can book the room that caters to your need.
Can try to ask for free printing of your wedding cards

Hi Latte, thks for replying. Larrina sounds v sincere over the phone, I've actually decided on Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, but Larrina called me twice, sounded so sincere, so thinking of meeting her & see what she has to offer.
Feels bad la to reject her..haha

Actually there is no need to feel bad la.. it's usual that ppl will get them to quote. Personally I tink no harm to check out one more hotel before signing... hehe

Normally u ask for the following items:

1) Free wine/beer (normal is 1 btl wine/table and free flow/20L beer)
2) 2 Nights stay instead of 1 night
3) Helpers room
4) Waiver of corkage for wine/hard liquor
5) Complimentary printing of wedding cards
6) More parking coupons (normally can go up to 30% instead of 20%)
7) Solemnization room if required
8) Anniversary stay
9) Food tasting 10 pax instead of 6.

Yup and its good to compare.. u muz like the ambience, food, service, location.. I personally love Regent, for various reasons esp the ambience and look of their banquet hall. Food is not bad too!

we are having at the royal ballroom, in fact we are crossing our finger that there we made a right choice to sign up before the wedding show, we had actually signed up for the show in may but we are unable to hold the date until then, so we signed up first in case the date are gone

my wedding will be end of 2012. the other i have shortlisted is Mandarin Oriental.

But MO is a little more ex than regent. I am planning for lunch. I went to Regent yesterday to see the ballroom. is the tanglin room on the 2nd floor where there are tanglin1, tanglin2, tanglin3 and tanglin4? Seems like the room is quite small? Nassim seems more bigger..

Shan, so the reception area is only at tanglin 4 there? they will combine all the tanglin together? Nassim width is it wider? But both rooms got low ceiling.

wonder if i can get the royal ballroom even though i only have about 16 tables for lunch..

Hello Stanley,

there is a minimum number of tables you need to confirm or meet to get the ballroom. So, say it is 30 tables for lunch, even if you only have 16 tables, you will need to pay the cost of all 30 tables before they can give you the ballroom. That is to ensure you pay the minimum value of room and the hotel does not make a loss. This apply to every other rooms you book in the hotel. YOu have to meet the minimum requirement by having the tables or pay for it.

Hi Stanley,

Here is a photo of Tanglin Room as posted in this forum by regent bride.

If you read through some of the archive, you will find a lot of information that might help you make a decision between MO and regent.

The coordinator will be able to show you more picture of the hotel rooms. Have you met the Regent Coordinator yet? Seem like you went down to view the ballroom on your own. Apology if I am wrong. But it will be better for you to view the venue with the hotel coordinator then they can advise you accordingly on the venue, size and what they can or cannot do for you.

well, you can call the banquet department and they will fix an appointment for you to see one of the coordinators. Depending on the availability of coordinators, they can meet you weekdays or weekends. Most of the time will be weekdays including evenings as they will either be off or busy with events over weekends.

Similarly, you do not expect your coordinator to be free on a sat or sun when she/he has a wedding couple getting married that day right?

Stanley, the reception area is outside of all the rooms.. for 16 tables very hard to get any ballrooms.

Ya i agree that the ceiling is quite low but regent have nice themes and the rooms will be nicely done up. Personally for me, I choose regent becos of the food!

Same with Shan and other brides, I choose Regent because of the food, the themes, and wedding cards.

My friends commented that my wedding invitation was nice. It's prettier than most of the invitation cards given by other hotels.

I have also shortlisted MO before but chose Regent in the end. As the price, food & wedding themes are better than MO. For me, the good thing about MO is the location.

metro, yes, it will look very nice. At first I thought about personalizing it too. But then not many people will appreciate it. They just glance at it, then noted the time and place. Only few friends will notice it. The rest just take for granted that personalization comes with the package. So we don't think it's worth it. Also, time is a bit tight for us :p
