Oh... that's really good to hear. I spoken to her once on the phone, sounded really nice. Very prompt on emails too... was afraid that she might find me annoying as I seems to always have questions to ask after I hit the 'send' button to her...

Is your wedding over already or coming up?

btw, what sort of things can RH throw in? From what I understand, they don't seems to be very flexible...

Any ideas?

haha... that sounds like a good 'description'. Btw, did any of you negotiated on the hotel rooms rate before? They mentioned that apart from RH, we could also go to Swissotel and Fairmont. Any idea of the rates or discount extended?

sorry.... i dun think they offer service for you to stay at other hotel.....

but they do give you 2 night stay in their suite. you can choose to stay in 2 days, or 2 suites in one day....... or stay one day...... next year stay another day =)

the hotel room is included in the banquet price already. u dun have to pay extra

That's a lot of rooms and all the more that you should ask for special rates.

It is only natural for us to ask lots of questions. When I was with Evelyn, she answered all my questions and was amazingly patient and friendly till I almost forgot that she was trying to sell me something. I felt like I was talking to a friend.

I was speaking to Swissotel the other day and they were telling me that the more rooms i'm getting, the more expensive it will be... Don't know why that's the case...

When I first sent email to Raffles, it was Richie that responded and then mention that I should contact May if I have further question. So guessing he would not be the actual 'coordinator' that serves you?

Never spoken to him but his reply was prompt.

Are you holding your wedding at RH too?

so happy that finally someone is actually looking at this thread and responding... I kept coming back and there's 'no one'... :p

Aveline - is your wedding coming up or over already?

Anticipate: He responded to my email and to contact him for further questions I might have. Reply is definitely prompt. Yes, I'm hoping to hold my wedding in RH.

Hey people, i'm so excited. I've just got a reply and yes, I'm in for RH. Going down to talk to them to discuss details tomorrow but definitely in for it.

Pebz - which date are you looking at? Better book early, don't be like me so last minute, searching high and low like crazy...

Anticipate: I'm looking at 03.07.2010. Am meeting them this weekend..so will see how it goes. I initially thought of Conrad but date's taken.

hi pebz!

wow! You're super early for your booking! hehe...

Here's my thoughts, they are not very flexible in terms of throwing any free stuffs but in terms of interchanging some items, they are happy to negotiate. But understandable since they have certain cost to cover, etc.

I'm having mine at The Ballroom, it's small and cozy feel, like family gathering in Victorian style. Unlike the modern feel of most hotel so kinda of different. The only thing which I don't quite like is the reception area outside The Ballroom as it's an 'open' area so no air-con... although they can place some hidden 'floor' fan.

Oh ya, that day I saw the layout for 20 tables and it seems alright, my HTB and myself though it might be a little cramp if it's to a max of 25 tables so we're looking to keep it at 23 max for more 'room.

Good luck to you and do share your experience!!

Anticipate: Haha! Not early la. I just want to look around and not rush, that's all. You booked already? Whats the payment scheme?

Anticipate: Haha! Not early la. I just want to look around and not rush, that's all. You booked already? Whats the payment scheme?

pebz - yes, i have booked it last Sat, we paid 25% deposit and the rest on wedding day itself or when we 'check-out' of the room.

How many tables are you looking at and any specific budget?

ya, the max for Raffles Hotel is 25 tables. My package is what they offered on the website, they aren't flexible on throwing in more free things but have the flexiblity to change around if you don't want certain things.

Check out their packages link here:

Hope these helps!

Let me know if you have other questions.

i'm definitely having my dinner there, have not thought about what to do with my ROM yet as it's on a different day and dependent or whether we want to go with a simple version as the dinner is just one month apart... hehe

How about you?

I see. I'm still undecided like you on the ROM portion. Haha! Cost would definitely be one of the deciding factors. It has to be after Mar 2010 cuz my cousin is getting married in Dec 2009..observing the 3 months before/after thingy.

*seems only the 2 of us are communicating here*

ya... this forum was very quiet, guessing the brides here probably have finished their event. We'll keep the thread running! LOL

Is your ROM on the same date as your AD? The main thing on this venue is the limited number of tables so you really need to have a rough gauge on the no. of ppl you're inviting in total.

Btw, who's your coordinator?

Oh... so envy... all in a day is more convenient! I have to go with different days because on the AD, i have to many places to run.
sad.gif

tracey is nice, in fact, i think the coordinators there are all friendly. Mine is May Liang but I know tracey too.

My AD is 26 Dec 2009 but yet to decide on the ROM. Was given 3 dates (Sep, Oct and Nov) but deciding on that later since we're going to make it a very simple one.

ya... same here! high five!

Both the groom and bride's 'house' are in the hotel too.

Btw, there's a bridal fair this weekend at Suntec, you might want to drop by to have a look too.

ya... but I'm going to stay at Fairmont/Swissotel (supposedly 'my house') with my tea ceremony probably in one of the function room or my room then proceed to one of their restaurant for food.

For my bf, RH will be 'his house' and he'll book a function room for tea ceremony.

But seriously, cost-wise doesn't seem really worth it so we're still looking for other alternative. Not sure if any of the restuarant in RH has a private room, probably the rate and food wise are more 'balance'.

What about you? Are you arranging any food for them? Can share share some ideas... hehe

I would think it will cost quite abit and like you say, not worth? It will be great to share some ideas. I initially thought we would stay over, get the function room to do tea ceremony for both sides and lunch, maybe. Save the hassle of travelling and no need to clear up. I think photos would look nicer also. Hee!

It will be strange to not arrange food, right? Was thinking maybe brunch? High Tea? This will likely take place in the morning..I suppose. Now I dunno about the ROM portion leh. If we wanna do it seperately, then gotta look @ another set of dates/ time.

RH requires a min of 50 pax and cost about 85++ each. Similar cost goes for those that Swissotel/Fairmont. I calculated mine roughly and cost close to 10k just on the meals for tea ceremony... And for that price, the food is not really of that equal standard apart from the fact that it is serve in the hotel... (-_-)|||

It depends on how many people you're looking at as well. Do you have a lot of people at the tea ceremony?

If you're looking to hold ROM on that day? Perhaps might want to look into combining both sides of the family in the morning to witness and then drink tea? And after that, buffet lunch? The other option is to look for a separate venue and get all of them to gather then. So after your hb picks you, then go back his place, followed by the ROM/tea ceremony venue?

Hey girls, I have been to 2 ceremonies at The Lawn of Raffles Hotel before and they were both very beautiful experiences. Well, I think looking at what you are planning, it's so much easier to have everything under one roof!

One of the ceremonies I attended also incorporated tea ceremony after the event under gazebo of The Lawn. The rest of us guests were mingling with canapes and cocktail while the couple served tea to their familiy under the shade. I have checked with the hotel and they will be providing the items for tea ceremony, together with a staff on stand-by at no additional charge.

The logistics of shuttling people is a headache for me, so I'd rather have them all contained =)

pebz> Ya, agree with crissy that they have The Lawn which is quite well received. But it's down to whether you want to serve canapes or lunch. They have a ROM package at 1999++ for 20pax, think its 40+ or 60+ for each additional pax. Something like that.

That's one of the option that I'm looking to ask, see if they can change the canape to lunch buffet. The only thing is the weather since it's outdoor... and rain might be another factor...

crissy> do you remember how many people they are at The Lawn? Is it very cramp or feeling too warm, mosquitoes?

Anticipate: I'm definitely for the idea of holding all under 1 place..rather than moving up and down. The lawn was main reason why I am sooo attracted to Raffles. Heh! Yup. Just concerned about the rain and mozzies..too!

Oh no mosquitoes from the 2 times I was there. Of course, since we are in Singapore, we need to be under the mercy of our weather. But they do have back-up venues in case of heavy downpours. This is also complimentary! Sigh, it's a risk we brides have to take I guess.

mmmmm I think there were up to 80 guests the last time and it's not cramped. There's still space for cocktails at the back of The Lawn. I haven't tried a buffet lunch in the gardens though. But I think they can do it if you want to.

hmm... sounds like a plan but not sure what the cost per pax is and if they can convert to lunch. I've just emailed to them so keeping fingers crossed!

crissy, are you holding your wedding at RH too? when's your AD?

Crissy: Thats good! Any idea which part of the year would be less rainy? sunny?

Anticipate: Let us know when they revert back ya. I will only be meeting Tracy this weekend so ...

Wow!

Crissy: Hee! Its a 'gamble' and loads of prayers I suppose. Christmas day will be even more expensive, isn't it? By the way, 1 of my alternative dates for ROM is Christmas Day too. But not taking that.

Anticipate: Any response from them yet? Can't wait for Saturday to come..

pebz - i think they can sort of tailor some of the stuffs to suite individual so best for you to speak to them this weekend, tell them exactly what you need and see what they can do.
happy.gif

For my side, they are workng on it cos I require the change of menu, pax presence, separate rooms, etc, etc so different requirements from you and might not be accurate. Anyway, I have yet to get the 'package' too.

Just speak to them on your thoughts.

hehe wow..this thread is buzzing la!

RH has been super prompt on my replies..can't wait to get married hehe so excited!

my AD will be sometime end of the year if not early next year..but next year they are not officially opened..so sad.

Tracey is my coordinator...very friendly over the phone la! so excited hehe!

anyone know how the package for next year will look?

hello grace, welcome to RH! I'm not sure about next year package but do speak to Tracey. So far, all the coordinators there are very friendly! Have fun too!
