Have you been in a position where you had 3 rooms and you had planned for the purposes as follows:
1st room: Master bed room
2nd room: Study room/ wardrobe room/ guest room
3rd room: extra room for what?

and you realise that you have an extra room. Which of the following will you choose?
a) Use it as either study/walk in wardrobe
b) Renovate and prepare for baby room
c) Leave it unused
d) Use it as store room
e) break down the wall to expand one of the room (living room/ study room/ master bedroom)
f) Use it as guest room

If you chose f) Use it as guest room, assuming that the guest room is smaller, I have a few queries:
1) Who are you trying to invite over? Parents? Friends?

2) Will you get a :
i) single bed or
ii) queen size bed or
iii) duplex bed or
iv) Table and bed convertible build in.

3) Will they really stay over and utilize that bed?

Hmmm... didnt realise you already had a planned guest room.

1) My SO is non-local. So i will need that room when his family are visiting.
At other times, I was thinking to rent it out on short term basis. (airbnb or something)

2) Either a duplex or super single. If it is a queen size bed, the room will be quite cramp.
Convertible, IMO, it tends to spoil easily, and usually not as comfortable.

I think I will keep it as guest room at the moment with a sofa bed and some shelves... standby for future baby room but won't think of renovating it yet :)

Lol.. Better don't use airbnb, seems like a lot of people are not aware that it is illegal to rent out on short term.

I would actually consider making the spare room into a entertainment room, but that's of course provided that you and your spouse are into that. Can always do a KTV/game room, with a convertible couch in the event more people stay over and the extra "bed" is needed.

Yea, realised it is illegal. But can rent out on 6mths basis. Or, have some connections overseas, not thru public ads. :p

Haha yes.. After paying through the nose for the house, after 99 years we give it back to the government. Yay for us! Oops sorry for OTT.

I used up 1 room for study/entertainment and another for a walk-in wardrobe (without hacking of wall to join with MBR). Probably when the baby comes, the walk-in wardrobe can turn into the nursery.
