hi YinYin,
Had a fren who did the same as u suggested, did her PS in M'sia and engaged her own MUA. But gowns means u need to lug them back yah? Think the price of BS packages in JB is quite worth it, coz u can get almost 2x the no. of photos of what u can get in SGP..

Yaloh, one of my friend even went to China to take the PS(BS in China), she only paid SGD500 for her whole album (but the pix so so only), the other friend also did it in China but willing to pay like SGD1000 the pix then is more nicer, my hubby ask me to go China and take, i faintzzzzz

Hi Yin Yin, i have a few other packages from different hotels and so far find Orchard the most reasonable, esp with the UOB perks. And with ard 25 tables, some hotels will only offer you their function rooms and not their main ballrooms so Orchard is good as we use part of the main ballroom with chandeliers (though not nicest i've seen) and high ceiling.
mar07bride, my CO is Yoke Mei. Met her once and find her nice and professional. But she seems pretty firm when i try asking for additional stuff. I tried to ask for more beer (in return i reduce the no. of bots of red wine) she said can control the amt by not serving beer during cocktail reception. Late check out for bridal suite will subject to availability.
Anyway, if unable to get additional stuff also not too bad, cos the package includes beer and wine. Shall try my luck on friday again. If not, at least i settle one big item for my wedding.

I oso dun hv tat many tables. but stil, of the UOB, there r some perks tat I did manage to get, like 2nd nite stay, up the complimentary passes. play abit hard to get bah.. indicate clearly tat u r considering, & 1 of the factors is tat there r some perks tat u reali wan to hv & OH is not giving.. in the worst senario, if u reali wans OH, tok to the billy, assistant banquet director, somethg like tat.. see if tat helps.. my 2cents worth.. no guarantee yah...

yin yin, have not been to many. Seen ballrooms from Grand Copthorne Waterfront, Hotel Intercontinental, Meritius Mandarin before (on other occasions like seminars etc). Like GCW grand ballroom but unfortunately can't meet their min tables required. They have smaller function rms but banquet with lesser tables which i dun like. Hotel Intercon also cannot meet min tables requirement, their chandeliers quite nice. Attended a wedding Mandarin, pretty disappointed w their service for a 5 star hotel. Then ruled out other hotels due to budget, so left with Orchard lor. Haha, actually we are quite lazy to view the rest of the venues.
Realised they are providing a DUMMY wedding cake, unlike some hotels (they have at least the top layer genuine) Anyone has managed to get a real top layer cake? If not guess i will do without the dummy.

if you want to tailor made your gown, I can recommend my designer to you, the shop is call Ted Collection, is not Ted Wu. Their workmanship very good and nice, and their gowns are all with beads, not those simple simple gowns that you see in other BS.
In fact there's a thread under Bridal services and you may look under Ted Collection, there's lots of comment and compliments about Ted Collection. And the designers very very professional and friendly, I can say that their work is better then those famous designers. Even people from big organisations and people flew in from Hong Kong to look for them, they are specialist in Cheong Sum.

Ted Collection is quite worth a visit! For the price u pay, u get to keep ur gowns
Tt's really cool! and if u dun want to keep, u can always sell. Moreover u get to MTM too.. The thing with going to a BS, if u MTM it's usually for rental & to keep u top-up ard $200+.

I paid my wedding gown, evening and cheong sum at $2.7k, but if you confirm with them one year before your wedding, you will save $500 which is $2.2k, and you get to keep all the three gowns after your wedding. And you can have your dream gowns and different from our brides and BS. They used swarovski crystal for the beadings.
I will show you my photoshoot photos, my AD not enough space to post in the website liao.... At first I thinking to rent from the BS but then the price is about the same, not very worth, at least this one I can keep (although cannot use for the future, but the evening gowns can keep for other occassions). Ted Collection's price not very expensive and their designer all very friendly and professional. The designer actually attended my wedding and help out with my accessories and hair-do, make sure I look ok for the night. They also provided lots of ideal for our wedding, very informative.
And as for Christopher, he is really very good, I can see from this forum, there's lot of compliment for him. During my wedding, he is everywhere whenever my hubby need him to arrange for anything. After my first dish, he actually followed me back to the room with two bowls of shark fin while I'm changing to my EG. Then he will guide us thru during the march in. He followed us during the table to table photoshooting.
Then for the last dish which is the dessert, he brought two bowls of the dessert for us, then he said have we had our first dish and must have the last dish "got head and tail". No harm having him during your wedding. Even our parent and sibling said he is very helpful evening during the dinner, he kept asking around our people whether need help or not.

Janice, have heard many good comments on Ted Collection. My concern is on the total expenses expected to DIY then on the time and effort in coordinating ourselves. Care to share how much u spent on Gowns (WG/EG/Teadress) + Men's suit + MUA + Outdoor PG + Hand bouquets/corsages + car deco etc ? Thanks. (It's ok if you dun feel comfortable with revealing the amount)
Have signed contract with Orchard Hotel last friday. Viewed wedding setup for the Grand Ballroom... very grand and nice, the chandeliers with the intelligent lighting? (forgot what's that called) is amazing. Too bad there will only be 2 chandeliers for Ballroom 3. Being in the high celing and pillarless ballroom reassured that i've made the right choice.

I did not ask for additional night at the Bridal Suite cos FH also agreed that we dun need another night. But the bridal suite seemed relatively small as compared to the Executive Suite. We mananged to get more beer in exchanged for reduced number of bots of red wine.

Ted Collection is just next to Chinatown Point shopping center, is just near to the Hotel 81, in front of the bus stop. The shop is very red, very attractive. You can check with them how much they will charge you if your wedding is end of the year.If you want and since I'm not working, I can accompany you to their place, now me friend friend with them liao, they got lots of things and ideals to talk to you.

As for my photoshooting,AD photographer and videographer, my hubby's suits (1 Tux and 1 normal suit),MUA and Gua Da Li biscuits,I engaged from a BS in JB www.dreams.com.my.
Dreams specialist in photoshooting and I like their work a lot.
As for the car decor, hand bouquets/corsages, we DIY together with my hubby's sister.

The former very fairy-tale, and the latter absolutely refreshing & mood shot

Not sure about the naming of the suites but believed yours was a Exe Suite cos the Bridal Suite is a little small for a 'suite'. Well, in my opinion.

I dun mind to go down with you, I brought few of the SB brides there, few of them didnt sign up with them due to budget. They close 8pm daily but if there's customer, they won't chase you away. Everytime I went there, usually will end up 2hours then can leave, cause the designers very entertaining. You let me know the date and time for me to arrange with them.

thanks for the compliments, I told the photographer we want to have all natural shoots, so she kept asking my hubby and me to talk to each other. And also I brought 2 friends with me, so my friends will try to entertain us by the photographer's side. I spent around RM9k in Dreams, but of course not only photos la, with other things.

Hi mehmeh,
Why not come down together with us to have a look at TC, they do not have gowns to let you test on cause all MTM and belong to other brides le! My gowns still there, I can let you all try...
As for Dreams, think the price is ok, cause it also my actual day photograhy and videography from JB to Singapore OH whole day, then also include my hubby's one suit and one tux(MTM and can bring back) and also have the guo da li biscuits as well. But of course different brides have different requirement, I like this and they dun hard sell and also they return all photos (include those not chosen for the album), so I created another album myself. I check in Sin and other BS in JB, dun really fit my taste.
