hi there, i think we were quoted something a little higher than that package, probably because I have less than 100 guests ... I just read the original post on the other forum . Just so alll the folks know, that price was for a capacity of 160pax..

Just an update ... we just finalised our booking with One Rochester... food on the menu above is done in-house by their own chef... the only thing I've tried on the menu above is the crackling pork and it's really very nicely done!

I've finalised my booking with One Rochester too! We love the place and they make the planning so easy. They're like a wedding planner for us!

For those who are interested, have to warn you though. It's quite pricey. I'm expecting about 200 guests and the price is similar to what I stated in my earlier post.

anyone knows what kind of decorations they do? i'm finalising the details of my booking w. one rochester too...

Hi mel,

You can ask Janet for pictures of decorations they did for previous weddings. There aren't standard decorations, though. The decorations will really depend on what you want.

Hope this helps.

Hi caramel

I came across One Rochester in a magazine and saw the *beautiful* photos.

The 2 things I'm most concerned about are the price and the capacity though.

Would you mind emailing me at [email protected] to tell me how much you're paying and how you intend to seat your 200 guests, and lastly, if you're intending to host them for just the ceremony or the dinner as well.

Thanks, I really appreciate this.

Hi Ylssa,

Hope you don't mind me posting my reply here instead. I don't want to answer similar questions individually.

Price - You can refer to my earlier post. The price varies a little depending on the items you choose and the number of guests, but it's definitely still at least $100 per person.

Seating - It'll be free seating for my wedding lunch. I'm intending for it to be an informal party, so I'll not be assigning seats. If you're wondering about capacity, One Rochester is supposed to have seating space for 230 people.

I'm only having my wedding lunch there. The actual ceremony will be in church.

Hope this helps.

Personally if you all are thinking of One Rochester for your wedding, please do it in the evening as it is really not as nice in the morning/afternoon and it's pretty hot for your guests.

It is a good cosy place but I will not suggest a big crowd for this place. Cos the deco is really rather plain. You'll need to top up quite a bit.

For almost $130 per person, it is very ex with not much perks.

I love the place esp in evening time but aft counting the costs, not so possible.

had my dinner there a few weeks back. Great feedback frm all guests. Food was good, decor was good. ambience very good. service was good. it's very expensive and u'll probably make a loss on this dinner but if you want something "chill-out" for friends, it's a good choice.

HI there jea! Suggest you give it some time - the folks were away for most of the week this week... I just had my wedding there last weekend. If you wanna get in contact, suggest you give them a call too... I think the number is on the webbie...

i have $500 deposit at OneRochester to let go. can be used to offset your bill. Selling at $400, so effectively saving $100.

The good thing is, there is no specific date to adhere to. Just email me at paujoo at gmail dot com.

Hi girls,

I had my wedding at One Rochester and was more than happy about it. Everything was perfect and Monette (the wedding planner) has been great at all times.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been disappointed Cindy but I still highly recommend the One Rochester for the Brides to be to have their wedding there.

Only amazing memories left for me, my husband and family.

Updates:
The meeting up is not so fruitful yesterday but at least there is a start. So far Monette is very accomodating, really looking forward for the options that she can customize for us soon. I am so desperate to get the location fix...*sigh*. There is also few wedding road show this weekend...hopefully it will not be so tempted until I signed up one on the spot. Stay cool........

Hi all

would like to ask whether u have the required min spending to 'own' the whole place for the nite? As i understand there is a min requirement for this. As my guest list is less than 150 ppl and i'm on budget. Or do u all have any encounter on this. Can any kind soul help mi to clarify? Thanks a million..

Hi Simple - Had my wedding at One Rochester in Jan 2008. We had an 85 pax but we booked up the whole place. At the time we booked One Rochester, we had a min spending requirement of $14,000 (Before svc & gst) on a Sunday night. I'm not sure what it is now but shouldn't be too far off from there. Hope this helps.

Hi Tonya - good to see that you are still checking out and responding to this thread.

Hi Simple - Per my last meeting up with Monette, she can give you the whole place if confirm guest is >150 or spending of $16000 (if i remember correctly). You may want to check if the area open to ousiders will affects yours...if not, i think it should be OK.

Hi Simple
Oh ya..she did mentioned about the walking past to the washroom..but i think i am OK with that since we have tight budget, so got to live with that. Didn't think of any theme yet..coz havent confirm whether to choose One Rochester. Monette promise to work out a few options for me today but still havent receive her email yet..have been checking my email all day.

Hi Simple, well for that $14k at the time, we got :-

1. Change from 2 to 3 tier wedding cake - that one was outsourced to a baker, but was included in the price. We chose the design of the cake.

2. 1 extra hour of free flow alcohol (beer, wine, soft drinks, juices).Originally we were given 3 hours of that.

3. 1 or 2 more dishes (I can't remember exactly)

4. a bit few more bottles of prosecco (Italian champagne) ...but I can't say I can remember ever seeing them that night ...

That's it I guess... we were also given a choice of live entertainment but I think we substituted it with the other changes we made. We burnt our song choices on a CD and the DJ played them that night.

Let me know if you want to see more specific pics - I just got my pics back

I have just replied Monette last night that I am OK with the package proposal and asked them to block the date for us. Have also temporary made an appointment for detail discussion the weekend after next as i am not around this week. But today I received email from one lady from her team saying another client is also interested on the same day..they will be giving the slot to whoever is able to give them the confirmation first by paying 20% deposit.

I really dont feel comfortable paying the deposit before the detail discussion lor. If the other couple is more desperate and ahead of us, then we got no choice but to look for other alternatives.

So sad.

Hi Snow Saggi - Bingo..such a coincidence. So you have finalize everything with Monette? If you have, then you may go ahead. No rush, u still have roughly another 2 weeks to think about it before me...hehe
happy.gif
. Unless there is another couple interested on the same day too.

I better start working on alternatives..

Hi mz, i wanted to tell u that they had made a mistake on the date of tentative booking for me. I didn't want 6 Sept. Told them already it was the wrong date. So, they should be able to give it to you..

Hi Snow Saggi - I see..Good to hear that and thanks for informing.

One Rochester has just reply me a mail on this and they will hold it until the meeting up. Hopefully everything goes well. I think is good to look for alternatives at the same time as backup plan..hehe.

So, when is yours? Mind sharing your details?

i am looking at end of the year.. me too will be having a detailed discussion with them in April cos just like you i'll be travelling.. Am considering this place against the regular hotel options like Oriental and Raffles. Each has it own merits. For Rochester, while i like the place, am quite concern when it comes to communication, somehow felt they are quite messy. Heard they had a change of management recently.

mz6467

is good to look for other options as backup in case it doesn't turns out the way you want. Ya, i am also quite concern on the management change. The brides who commented about the good things were handled by the previous planner...have not heard any comment from the new brides so far except Cindy posted above. Looks like she had a bad experience but not sure about the details. It is already very pricey with not much perks..if it does not turns out good..then is really not worth...keep our finger cross.

Hi chilli - my post is up on the other one rochester thread. I've put a link up just before Cindy's post above..

Could there be a difference in price for a weekday vs weekend..??

simplejer

Hi Chilli- i think u can tell her that u have a budget lo..to lower down the prifce..

Hi mz, well...i was tempting to book the place le..but the price was a concern too...like u say the management had change donno their service standard was gd 1 ma??now i looking for alternatives le..hee..

now headache over choosing of venue...

mz6467

Simple - I am also so tempted on the place..but what to do, have to consider our pocket too..hehe. About service, i think everywhere you go also you may have the same concern. But if they show their sincerity to handle the event..then at least it will boost up some confidence.
happy.gif

Chilli - I agree with Simple, you need to negotiate with them to lower down the price. Mine is also a weekend and was told that 16k min to book the whole place.

simplejer

Mz- no choice..mi now lookin more at pool side hotels n also outdoor de..realise sg doesnt have a lot of nice places le..ya i agree too if they have the sincerity to handle the event...

Chilli : Sounds like there's some inconsistency yah? Thank goodness for this forum. And yes, Tinydots wasn't part of any package..

Sorry for the late reply, I don't usually check the forum and didn't know people were asking for specifics. Might be better to email me.

Pauline: The guests had fun because they didn't know what was promised and probably thought that was how the event should have been.

Simplejer: Would suggest booking the entire place or you risk not having privacy. It is really not that big a place. It is impossible to avoid strangers gatecrashing your wedding so I won't take Monette's word for it. We booked the entire place for 70 odd guests, at a min of 16k for a sunday and with many complimentary items removed.

snow saggi: Mine was handled by Janet and Alain who were great. I can't say the same for the rest of the team. As with new people on board, there will always be a mess, just be prepared for it.

Hi, nice place, but not as cosy as One Rochester, no garden feel to it, and when I asked them about holding a function there, they told me minimum $30,000 to hold a function there! So I didn't bother to pursue cos they didn't seem interested.
