Hi kite,
hmmm.. that's a great idea. But I think hubby and I need to wait for more a few more years then go back there again cos he now probably has a bad record with the traffic police. keke!

Yes i went on Jan 05 and weather varies from cold to hot. NZ can have 4 season in just 1 day! really crazy. So u intend to self drive for how many days?

Hi Kite,
Thanks for the pics..Can serve as reference to us...
Is it difficult for F&E?
I tot of signing with tour group..
Intending to go during Jan06 maybe around 10 days...

hi berry,

actually its not difficult to do F&E in NZ. can u or ur hubby drive? else u can opt for self drive instead of joining tour cos there are alot of places which u can explore yourself.

Since u plan to go for 10 days, suggestions for u to explore is the south island.

Christchurch - Lake Tekapo - Mount Cook - Queenstowns - Milford Sound - Queenstown - Fox Glacier/Franz Josef Glacier - Arthur's Pass - Christchurch

unless u are really ambitious, can explore more places but will be quite hectic.

don't think we wanna drive there...
will take down those places u mention...thanks..at least i got something in mind...
hey kite i saw u posting in U bridal...did u sign up with them?

NZ weather in Nov ranges from 9 degrees (south island) to 15 degrees (north island) depending on where you are. I was there in nov 2 years ago, and i enjoyed the weather. You will have to bring those thick sweater tat can withstand cold from 10-20degrees

hi mngo,

yup. definitely will but not at the moment as busy with work. how abt you? u been to both island before rite?

hi kite
Well i guess nz wont be in my plan this year or next. I may want to try out european countries. oh yea i been to both islands. two different islands and scenic

hi mngo,

i hv never been to north island, wish to visit it.
happy.gif
but i heard south is more scenic n better than north rite?

Hi,
After much consideration, my FH & I decided to go the boring route & take a tour package for our honeymoon to NZ. Can anyone recommend a good travel agency that provides good itinerary & value?
Thanks!

Hi kite,
I'm going in Jan 2006. We've exchanged emails privately before ;)
Wanted to drive previously... but both sets of parents disagree... so we decided to be safe than sorry :P
We shall leave the 'adventure' to another..... time...

Hi PT,

I am taking a tour package from Chan Brothers travel. I am not sure whether it is good because I will depart only on 24 June (next week
happy.gif
) but I heard from my friend that they are quite good. I am taking 7 Days tour because there is a promotion on that package. Normally it costs around 2388 but after discount it becomes only 1688 so it is a good deal We also extend it to 3 more days and book the hotel online for the extended days.

Hi cicu,
yea, Chan brothers is trustworthy.... let me know how the trip went when you're back ok?
happy.gif

It's winter now rite? better prepare lots of warm clothing.... hope you have lots of fun!

halo, kite
i m new here, i m planing to go NZ for my honeymoon on 26 dec 05, worry abt the weather there, could you pls give me some advice? what should i wear? thank you!

Dec in NZ is summer but it can be 4 season in a day meaning u wil get cold wind, rain or even sunshine.. If u are in the south island, just in case, do bring along a winter wear. i did too when i went in Jan this yr n i wore it only during e nite cos extremely cold.

f&E self drive? planning how many days?

Hi Kite,

Can you email me your pics at New Zealand too?

Me and hubby planning to go in Oct. Is there any shopping places there? read from your itinerary that most places are scenic. I don't mind scenic places but would also like to have 1-2 days of shopping if possible. Any advice?

Hi smurfy

We are also thinking of NZ for honeymoon in Oct.... shld be early to mid Oct. How abt you? We are thinking of self-drive.. will mainly be to scenic locations.. shopping is 2ndary.. maybe we can exchange ideas! ;p

hi jovia,

i don't mind exchanging ideas but the problem is that I don't have any ideas :P. No time to do research, so wondering if we should self-drive or book package.

My hubby is quite an experienced driver but not much of a planner. He prefer to self drive. I like self drive cos of more freedom but also like package (long time din go package liao) cos no need to plan.... wondering if there is any travel fair coming up.

hi smurfy,

Can you give me your email address?

U planning to go north or south island? how many days? f&e self drive is great! can plan your time n places u want to go. as for shopping, not alot of shopping in NZ unless u go to those major towns like queenstown, christchurch. I did some shopping there too. other than that, mostly scenaries. I highly recommend South island, beautiful.

hi kite,

my email is [email protected]

I think i'll focus on south island since its highly recommended and also my hubby wanted to visit LOTR at Arrowtown. hmmm..no. of days undecided yet, maybe slightly more than a week 10-14 days. how are the shopping like in these areas? shopping malls or flea market types? Is it easy to walk-in to the hotel / accomodation instead of having to book in advance?

thanks

thankyou, kite, we plan to stay for 17 days, south island only, self drive. there b another couple go together w us, also for honeymoon! hope we will have fun! by the way, can u share ur NZ photo wih me? my email is [email protected], thanks again!

hey gals,
have decided to go to new zealand for my honeymoon.. can someone advise me how should i go about planning a self-drive trip to new zealand? which are the places that i should visit? intend to only visit the south island.. will be going in early dec...

like to visit scenic places, farm stay ...intend to depart for new zealand on 28 Nov 05

Hi little_ger,

How many days do u intend to go? I juz came back from NZ south island two days ago but as it was very last minute and I have insufficient leave, it was only a 8 days trip. It was a self-drive and really really fun. The scenaries are breathtaking. Am missing NZ so much!!
happy.gif
However, do get ready lotsa thick clothing as the weather is really cold. I was in Twizel (near mt Cook) on a fair day and the temperature in the day time was 2 to 3 deg.

hi smurfy,

I went for 13 days to NZ, south island in Jan which was during peak period and thus i booked my accommodations beforehand in SG. Hmm if u gg during off peak period, its easier to walk in for accommodation but not advisable from Dec to Feb which is their peak. South island is definitely beautiful and its gd to focus on one island.

As for shopping wise, like i mentioned, u can manage to shop at towns like christchurch, queenstown. christchurch has flea markets during wkends. while the rest are all shops for sovernirs and etc. me bot manuka honey, paua shell accessories, manuka honey body washes and etc.

Btw i hv sent out my NZ pics to u. check it out.

hi pretty sandy,

17 days is good to tour in South island, not so rushing. Its great to hear that there are 2 couples which means there wil be 2 drivers rotating.

Previously, i have booked my car rental through recommendations from this forum, Anzed Car rental in NZ. The owner is a chinese and very nice to lend us his detailed map and even gave us lots of free maps. If u want e contacts, let me know.
happy.gif
I got some discount too.

Hv sent my NZ pics to u. Check it out.

Hi littleger & bluegrapes,

Nice to meet u all here. hehe
happy.gif

Littleger: NZ is great for honeymoon.
i went to Library to borrow Lonely Planet guide book and its very informative. Also u can go to NZ embassy at Ngee Ann city and get a copy of the NZ accommodations guide.

My itinerary outline was:
Christchurch - Lake Tekapo - Mt Cook - Twizel - Oamaru - Dunedin - Te Anua - Milford Sound - Queenstown - Fox Glacier - Hokitika - Hanmer Springs - Christchuch

Within these places, there are lots of beautiful lakes, mountains n scenic places. let me know if u want my itineary.

How many days u intend to stay? Its nice to go in Nov which is spring.
happy.gif
U stil can manage to see snow-capped mountains
happy.gif

Hi Bluegrapes

Congrats to u again. Wow its really a challeng to go during winter plus self drive, Not easy. guess u have to chain the tyres rite while driving on the snow? issit dangerous to drive during winter? 8 days is abit rushing but NZ is very beautiful.

When i was in NZ during Jan, some days i were wearing Spag straps and other days wil be sweater over it.

May i have e honour to view ur NZ pics.
