My Dream Wedding

HiHi,
I'm new to this forum Just visited MDW last weekend at BOWS and was quite impressed with their customer service!
I'm currently shortlisting MDW as one of my BS options, does anyone have any comments on their services as well as the price of their local packages?

Hi Jo ...

Their service is superb man. .I can feel their sincerity in making sure that our experience in MDW will not be "screwed" ...I took up their HK package and their prices are on the high side unfortunately..They be having their road show again in 1st November - 7th November 2010 in Bishan Junction 8. You may check them out again..

Actually I signed up with them with the intention of going to Taiwan.. But then I realize they don't have a studio dere n u hafta bring ur own gowns them fr spore.. So now considering HK..

But I feel Dat their HK photos lik not much scenary.. Mostly is at their studio n on d yatch.. Anybody can advise other routes to take?

anyone here had GINA (think tat is the spelling) as their AD MUA???

need advise or rather an opinion on her skills...

TIA!!!

Anybody tried changing coordinator?
Can't feel dat my coordinator is sincere n for d price I pay, I really hope m getting better service... =(

love_asa: are you replying to me?

No, what i meant is, when you trying out the gowns to choose for photoshoot in the bridal studio, do they allow you to take photo? i'm not talking about the photos from the photoshoot.

Are you taking PS in HK? if yes, they dun allow you to take photo when trying gowns, instead they will take photos for you... i think that's what love_asa meant.

Hi noir, mine is Rachael..
at BOW, she showed black face when we were reluctant to sign initially...

then my first meeting with her after signing, she only seemed interested in persuading us to decide on hk instead of tw.. den aft we settle on hk, she immed start doin her admin work n start packin when obviously we were starting to ask more abt d routes..
ya, i know we dont have to dcide on the routes den n dere.. but derez nothing wrong with us wanting to know more first as we have to internally discuss first mah...

@ Wintumnsky, oh Rachel! Change! I tell you i first met her at expo exhibition - the first time i come across MDW. My fiance and I were very interested in them but Rachel who served us put on so much airs we decided not to sign with her. And ya, she gave the look like "I know you're just asking and won't sign, so that's why I give you black face".

After considering alot of boutiques, we shortlisted 3 and went back to MDW a few weeks later to give second chance. We were saying if another coor act snobby to us we'll just strike them out. Lucky for them Yun who served us was pretty good, so ya there I am.

But I dunno la, maybe some ppl like Rachel's 'style'. But if you're not comfortable then you should try to change coor. It's your wedding so you must feel happy throughout the process mah... juz my 2 cents

Ya.. I agree with u! Her face wasn't v frenly at d fair.. if not for d other Taiwanese who is more sincere n frenly.. We dcide to call n check see when d other lady will be back n to request to change to her.. If not, I may consider changing to Yun since lik quite some of ya r please with her..

Hi Ellen, yah that's what I meant. Sorry for the confusion :p

My coordinator is also Rachel, but my experiences with her so far are quite good (still). But I do agree the other Taiwanese ladies in the studio are very friendly. I could easily struck conversations with them. But I guess typically, the Taiwanese are friendlier and more eloquent.

@ Kenix, they didn't let me take photos while trying the gowns neither. and they also refused to give me the soft copies of the gowns which i didn't choose, although i would have liked to keep them as reference for consideration.

I find their company policies very lacking in customer goodwill and am honestly getting very irritated at the "cannot do this cannot do that".

As someone in the service line, I can say that their policies are something all established companies who are customer-oriented call a big NO NO.

For eg. it doesn't cost them much for the bride to camwhore abit for reference while choosing gowns, but it means alot to the BTBs. Despite their boasting about being an overseas company and so on, I guess they are still a very small company afterall with alot to improve on in the area of customer goodwill.

Ya noir, I agree with u!!
We were quite irritated with the many NOS dat Rachel gave us.. Sometimes we think it's d way she replied dat really put us off.. D other vendor coordinators dat we spoke to at d bridal fair seem more flexible.. Sometimes I really wanna bang my head for making d decision to sign with them.. But wad to do.. High deposit paid le.. Sob..

@ Wintumnsky, dun worry I'm sure it will work out well.Maybe u can try to tell Rachel how u feel, or if it really bothers u too much, then try to feedback to the manager? When's ur ps?

Hi..

I tried their gowns and i like it very much.. but the package price was quite steep..
Anyone signed their AD package? Can share more?

@ Wintumnsky, In less than 2 weeks' time! Haha I am so stressed, need to find shoes, do hair etc. No time!! Just picked out my 'costumes' today @ MDW

oic.. envy u dat ur photoshoot is so soon... mine seems to be a donkey years away.. -_-"

anyway how long was your gown fitting?
u managed to find d few gowns dat u fancy?

hihi, im new to this whole forum and am a MDW bride too with Rachel as my coordinator! Just wanna take some time to share my experiences with Rachel since it seems like a lot of pple here didn't have very good feedback on her as coordinator.

My experiences with her have been good so far and she has been pretty accomodative to my requests. Yes I experienced my fair share of "NOs" from her too but thinking back, most of these are company policies and are not under her control (eg photo taking of gowns i like, getting low resolution soft copy of all the raw photo shoot photos etc)! As a staff i guess her hands should be quite tight on what she can / cannot allow us to do but she definitely tries to help and offer whatever she can. I have also visited quite a few of the other bridal studios before i decided on MDW and encountered a lot of friendly staff who were willing to compromise and offer me anything i wanted. However, i asked around in the industry and heard that a lot of bridal studios would agree upfront to anything u want, but once the deposit has been paid they will turn around and not deliver.

But of cos I have to agree that she does look "black face" at times. Initially when i first met her at MDW, i was also under the impression that she was very unfriendly and i did not dare to speak or request for anything from her. What i did instead was to speak to a manager and highlighted my concern. however, i soon found out (and i proved this after dealing with her a few times) that Rachel naturally has a very "unfriendly" face when she is very absorbed thinking about an issue, but once she sits down with you to work on your wedding, she drops all her other thoughts and would attend to you whole heartedly.

Not sure if the above helps in reducing any of the BTB’s concern about her as a co-ordinator, but just my 2 cents worth =)

Hi dere, welcome here.. Wah.. Ur first post is quite lengthy.. Hehe..

Think different pple have different preferences..But at d end of d day, it boils down to individual n I m happy for u dat u like ur coordinator..

When are u intending to go for ur PS?

haha yeah i've been reading the forums quite a bit but have been a silent participator thus far! hee paiseh a bit lengthy but just wanted to share my thoughts =)

i'll prob be doing my photoshoot next Mar / Apr. when are you doing urs?

Hi ladies,

I'll be having my solemnisation end feb or beginning of march next year and my customary in 2012. We were thinking of engaging bridal shop for both events. Have any of you try that before?

Can anyone send me the details of their wedding package?
Email: [email protected]

Thanks and have a great day! : )

@ wintumnsky, dun worry, it juz means u have more time to plan how u wan ur photos to look!

I actually had 2 fittings. After the first fitting, my mom saw the shortlisted gown photos and said not nice >.< And becoz of their dumb policy not to give us pics of the gowns we didn't choose, i can't show her the other gowns which I tried that day either so I went back to refit!

The choosing process took a couple of hours (or more?) Was rather tired at the end of it, but I think I like the gowns I chose at the end. I haven't showed my mom yet, very scared she say not nice again I dun wanna go 3rd time! Hahaha, no la, I really think the new ones I chose are pretty and my mom was right the first one was not as elegant

Now I am so excited about the ps less than a week away! I hope it will be fun... My coor called me yesterday to remind me to do manicure so sweet right! Anybody has tips for me on what else to prepare? :D:D

hihi everyone, i've just signed with MDW at their booth at J8, not even had the chance to visit their studio yet, but taking our chances that we'll find something we like since the they apparently have a very large collection of gowns to choose from.
happy.gif

Abt a week after signing up, we received a service call from our allocated coordinator rachel and she sounded really friendly over the phone. it was scary later to read the negative reviews abt her here, so it's been really comforting to see Inamess' input. ;) fingers crossed that my partner and i will have a good working relationship with MDW.

oh, our planned PS is next march as well. i dunno if i've heard wrongly, but i thought she said she'll call us down for gown/suit fitting next jan/feb. i mean... will there be enough time for PS in march? how long did u guys take between the very first gown/suit selection to finding the right gowns/suits, to day of PS?

To noir whose PS is less than a week away... have lotsa fun!!

hiya applez12, i think 1-2 months in advance is more than enough lead time to choose gown, go home, think it over, change your mind and go back choose another one haha.

becoz they dun alter the gowns to your exact size until the morning of your ps, and all the gowns for ps are their ready gowns and not specially tailored or ordered so even if you choose the gown the day b4 also doesn't make a diff LOL.

The only reason why they get you to choose the gown 1-2 months b4 is so they can reserve that particular gown for the day of your ps i guess

when's ur actual day?
happy.gif

hihi applez12, hee glad to know that my post helped reduce your fears slightly! =p dont be intimated by her "fierce looking" face when you go down as she does not really smile when she is concentrating on doing something / in deep thoughts. but once she comes by to serve u she is ok =) just talk to her more and find out about her, i feel that always helps in the friendship/relationship too! =)

oh my PS is also in mar and im going down to choose gown for PS only in jan/feb too! dont think that will be too late and should have more than enough time.

for actual day gown, i was also told to choose nearer to wedding date as they constantly have new designs and shipments coming in so to ensure we get the latest "fashion" gowns MDW recommends that we choose the AD gowns near the AD. hope this helps!

thanks for the advice gals! now it makes sense why 1-2months lead time is enough, haa...
my AD will be Sept 2011 but exact date TBC till we get advice from shifu.

wah, great that our AD gowns can be different from PS ones, i've always thought they're usually the same. i dont need to think abt getting gowns that suit both PS outdoors plus AD church wedding then, hee.

Hihi, can anyone share how much is a local package for MDW? Do they include bridal car for AD? Also, is there any price difference in what types of gowns we can choose? I went to some BS ans they charge differently from latest collections/imports/new gowns.

Can email me at [email protected]

Thanks!

Hi applez12, hrm u mean ur coor didn't tell u the gowns will be different? strange, they kept harping about this to us before, during, and after we sign the package.

anyway, i had my ps today and i am so. shagged. out. the day kicked off on a bad start. I was told to go at 9:30am, which i did, but the shop was closed. i had to wait alone (my hubby came later on) outside the the shop in the sweltering heat for 15 mins b4 the make up artist arrived in a flurry of apologies.

So unprofessional. When you ask your customer to come at 9:30am, you should make sure things are ready when they arrive on time. Heck, at least make sure the shop is bloody open even if the make up artist is late right! I waited another 15 mins while she set up her stuff, this and that, and the make up itself started at around 10:20am.

It was so early for me (9:30am is usually the time i wake), my cab fare cost me $15 becoz it was still peak hour so the entire fiasco of having to wait stupidly outside their shop made me more than a little cross.

The was also some glitches on my initial hairdo. It made us end up starting the ps late and not being able to finish the photoshoot; to which they attributed to us being stranded in the rain for about 10-15min (dun ask me y 15 min of rainfall made us miss the 3rd location). So the next time we return for the ps, we need to pay an extra $40/hr for the driver's time. And no, they won't let us use our own transport. We must pay. Another one of the company's 'fabulous customer-oriented' policies.

All complaints aside, generally, the ps itself was unbelievably tiring but still fun thanks to David and Max, who were very professional and did their best to make the shoot enjoyable for us.

A quick look at some of the photos we took seem to be positive so i'm keeping my fingers crossed for good results.

the make up artist did manage a good job on my make up despite the misadventure, so i just hope she won't be late the next time if she's assigned to me for my next ps.

i am still however, annoyed that we have to pay for the transport to finish the photoshoot when the reason y we didn't manage to finish the shoot was becoz of the delay during preparation in the first place...

Hi applez12, my AD is also on Sep 2011. But my PS will be in mid Jan. I have selected my PS gowns in late Oct coz my htb not in spore for almost the whole of Nov. but they arranged for a another fitting 3 days before PS to make sure I din grow fatter or thinner.

@ Kenix, they actually let u try it again 3 days b4 the ps? that's good coz i think i spent collectively 1/2 an hour fixing the size of my 3 gowns yesterday right b4 the ps...

Would like to second inamess's comments about Rachel. Made a trip down to the studio yesterday, and once again, was pretty pleased with her service. We have some requests regarding our album, and she has been really accomodating so far. That's a comfort because I've taken my photoshoot and you know the policy is to pay in full by then. I was afraid once we have paid in full, the standard of service rendered might drop. She (and the rest of the staff) proved me wrong indeed.

hey Noir, i guess my coor hadn't the chance to tell me abt the different gowns thing yet cos we haven't met her since signing up. hmmm, it's strange that u guys couldn't arrange for your own (free) transport for the 2nd day of photoshoot, i'll be annoyed too. but at the end of the day, good thing the photos look great! that's most important.
happy.gif

hi Kenix, good that your PS is in mid Jan. my HTB is a teacher so we can only make it in mar cos it's his school hols - i can only hope there isnt too many members of the public around during my PS!

I agree with love_asa. I didn't sign my package with Rachel but she was assigned to be my coordinator. From the initial arrangements to meet at the studio to the actual photo shoot and choosing of photos, I have never seen her give me a black face. Sometimes I think we have to cut the folks in the service line some slack considering the punishing hours they work each day. Even when I had to postpone our appointments or when I'm late, she never showed her unhappiness to us.

Anyway, my encounter with her has been really great so far. She even went to the lengths to pull out gowns featured in the photobooks for me to try and making sure everything's ok. However, I have to say that they are really expensive... busted my initial budget for PS...

Hi! Signed up for Macau photoshoot. Anyone going there? Seems like everyone going hk. Went to a friend's wedding who also signed MdW, but the gowns ain't v nice -_- bait worried on that. And can guys dun wear tux??

@ Huimin, I think you can keep trying the gowns till you find one you like. Maybe you can find a pic of the kind of gown you like and show your coor so that its easier for them to shortlist for you to try so that you dun have to try on 20 or so different kinds
happy.gif

@ applez12, yes, i am seriously irritated. And $40/hour?? Obviously this is hidden charges so that they can cover abit for the 2nd day's photoshoot. the final product of the photos better be good to make this worth it...

@noir thanks! Hehe. Haven booked my tickets to Macau yet. Probably going in May I hope.
$40/hr.. So next trip will cost at least $200 more?!! Can make noise? It's like paying for their mistake -_-

Exactly! I seriously don't believe the transport cost $40/hr which they claim they pay for every shoot to the outsourced driver because doing simple maths will tell you they might as well buy a company car and hire a in-house driver and save the company so much $$...

Also, thinking back, there was almost no way the shoot could have been finished within one day... even if the make up artist didn't make a mistake on my hair and it didn't rain for 15 min.. Wonder if this is a technique for hidden charges...

Anyway, when is your AD? Photoshoot in May enough time to get the photos?
happy.gif

Macau they charging $35/hr.
Eh haven book banquet yet. Hahahaha. Probably 2012. Just gotten Q number for BTO. So probably settle that first. 2012, think enough time. Ha. Cos I couldn't go before May too
sad.gif

But the photos will be nice! Saw my friend's album, nicely done up :D
