My Dream Wedding

hiya tricia, I was able to choose my photographer. My coor was very cooperative with my requests. Don't worry about being demanding, what you asked for should be what they offer in the first place.

It was precisely the lack of communication with the stylist about what I wanted that was why my 1st photoshoot ran overtime on re-styling and I have to go and continue the shoot next week.

I find it strange actually. When I signed up, the coor kept saying their policy is to have an intense interview to ensure the smooth photography session, but in the end the interview was all about where I wanted to hold the ps and whether I wanted flowers on my head or something along that line.

Tricia: You probably got to tell Jenny what you want specifically and get her to source it out for you. Even though I did not proceed on with MDW after my 2 or 3 times meeting up session, I managed to book the photographer I wanted and discuss what type of photography style I prefer.

Hey noir! Can I ask who your coordinator n photographer was? I experienced the same thing with the interview! Really superficial questions, didn't take more than 15 mins plus photographer was not involved, just Jenny. Come to think of it, I highly doubt she 100% understood what I wanted. Sigh hate wasting time on all these things

Hi all btb,

I have shortlisted my dream wedding as one of my choice..can someone share with me what does your package comprise of?especially your local package?seems like the loca pacake does not seem as comprehensive as other studio., pls email me at :[email protected]

Visited MDW at BOWS on Sat. We have to make the coordinator to "talk" to us, and she is kind of rude! Her words are full of hint to chase us away.

When we ask if they have other overseas shooting location beside what they have listed, her reply was "we don't have, you can go to other booth to look for it"!

@Ee, nope they didn't. They did attempt to charge me the exorbitant transport though, which I negotiated for a very long time to do away with. So my hubby will be driving our own vehicle instead. And even for that they tried to get me to sign a contract that I will be responsible for the safety of the photographer and assistant, which made me damn pissed off. I mean, who's servicing who now. So after I gave them a piece of my mind, they're doing away with that too.

@ Tricia, My coor is Yun, photographer is David, assistant is Max, all 3 of whom I am quite happy with, and would highly recommend to BTBs who want to sign with MDW. My qualm with MDW is really their lack of customer goodwill policies, with the eg. of them trying to get me to sign that ridiculous contract mentioned to Ee being the latest illustration of my irritation at the management.

tricia: i think its funny cos i always tell my frenz as well dat i think i m blacklisted as one of their difficult or maybe d most difficult customers.. haha...

tricia: luckily in d end they waive off the charges for u cos actually its their fault that the 1st PS has insufficient time..

ya, i think it is silly dat they ask u to sign a contract stating dat u r responsible for their staff safety..
come to think of it, did they sign a contract telling us they r responsible for our safety during our PS?

@wintumnsky, EXACTLY! I'm pretty sure the agreement we sign didn't have them say they are responsible for us either. It's so ridiculous esp. when they tried to pull wool over my eyes saying their staff insurance don't cover when their staff sit in customers' vehicle like WTH...

But I really am glad we were able to come to a compromise, or it would have been another hole burnt in our pocket. I hope everything goes well for my ps on Tue -fingers crossed-

Just curious, when u gals r negotiating on such unpleasant issues, do u all really show ur displeasure? Think for me, it's written on my black face n my guy is d one who can maintain his composure n tell them nicely our demands..

Min (bibao): I don't know her name, is a young lady in her late 20s. She try to "help" her colleague "translate", as he doesn't seems to speak English.

Anyway, we were not impress by their shooting style nor album layout, worst with their sky high price tag. Maybe, we have some odd taste over BS.

At BOWS, the really unique shooting style I find is The Aisle.

Hi all BTB, please think twice before signing up with MDW. I'm having a horrid experience with them right now, similar to tricia. I'm the HTB and my fiancee has not found her AD gown with the wedding less than 1 month away! I also feel that their words cannot be trusted. Why? Before we signed up for the package, we were sceptical about the range of gowns they have as my fiancee tried a few but my coordinator could not get her something close to what she want. She eventually told us that in the event that we cannot find what we want, she can get her designer from HK to design something similar to what my WTB wants but have to wait till closer to the wedding. And whenever we went down for fitting, they just repeatedly say come back closer towards the wedding, there will be new stock. By now i believe it is too late. It could just be their delaying tatic, just choose one since it is so close now.

Prior to this they have asked us to go for fitting closer to AD as there will be new pieces coming in, but seems like its always the same few gowns. Just last week they brought down 2 'new' gowns and told us we need to top up for these. Indeed these 2 gowns were slightly better BUT it is still not what my fiancee wanted. At that point, i knew we had to find her gown elsewhere. No point wasting money to top up for something we do not want.

On another occasion, when we were selecting photos for the album, they told us the photos will be deleted and not stored more then 3-4 months so we had to decide to add more at that point of time. Now(after >6 months) they offered to replace the AD gown with 5 soft copies(which i think is ridiculous!) So you can guess how much their AD gown is worth, of course im not asking for an exact match in price but i'm sure they can do better than that.

I'm wondering if anyone has similar experience with them and what else they can offer for AD gown replacement.

Hi Crypaz, my coordinator is Rachel, i'm thinking whether i should speak to her manager about the AD gown. Did you manage to get something in exchange for your ROM dress? We're extremely unpleased that our concern we had right before we sign, came true. I wouldn't say her service is bad but it's not on par with the HK photoshoot.

Hi YS...haven't talk to the coordinator yet about it...intend to ask her when i go for the final gown fitting before the photoshoot....

Did you all show your coordinator pictures of the gown that your financee would like and see if they got anything close to it?

For those gown that they say need to top up, how much did they charge for the top up?

Actually i guess no harm talking to their manager, see if the manager can come up with better solutions...

My fiancee took photos of the gowns she liked and showed them in one of the fittings but can't find anything close. For the top up, they gave us discounted price at 300/600 but i have no idea how they come up with 2 price category. But still not what my fiancee wanted so no point. I would give thumbs up for signing up for their photoshoot but not for the package to include AD/ROM.

You mean the top up original price is $600 but they charge you $300? Or there are two different prices for the top up one is $300 one is $600 depending on the gown choose?

2 different categories, 1 for 300 the other for 600, apparently she stressed it is discounted price which made us hesitate for a while(same as the GST trick) but i still felt that to top up with them, i would rather look somewhere else for something my fiancee wanted.

Ee, for the longest time, they have been telling their customers they have just applied for their company to be GST registered when they are showing you the package, and say the GST will kick in anytime soon, so if you go back and think about it, when you return to sign, you may need to pay GST.

They told me this about 1/2 a year ago when I just signed. After that I read through the forum and realized they've been using this 'GST trick' with other BTBs for at least a year before me. So I guess YS went through the same story too...

Hi Wintumnsky, Yea! The reshoot was smooth. It didn't even rain a single drop that day which was an amazing thing coz you know how the weather was these past 2 months.

I just went to choose some photos today. They haven't really touched up yet so was abit disappointed, but some were pretty nice. Will go back to choose again after CNY after they touch up more..

How's everything on your side?
happy.gif

Datz great!! I think d weather on d PS day is v impt cos if it rains, will dampen our mood..

Nothing has been done cos we were v busy with our jobs.. Hopefully can go down soon n raise our concerns aft reading d many complaints raised here.. But hafta feeling dey may jus make empty promises again.. =(

Hi Ee, nope we didn't, but we managed to get something better than the initial offer. Still not up to my expectation but now i just want to get it over with, don't expect too much also, everyone happy can ler. We have found 'the' gown at another bridal, fiancee felt the designer was really service orientated to add bling bling and lace/ruffles/flowers to the gown she like at no extra cost!

Anyone who has came back from HK and done AD can share their experience? Any good MUA to recommend?

We feel that HK experience really very good, fiancee highly recommend Addy(hope i spell correctly) if you go to hong kong.

Hi Wintumnsky, I suggest you go down early to start your search even if they suggest new stock coming in next few months/schedule fully booked or blah blah blah. They will also change stock frequently but feel that you need to let them know what you want early.

At least shortlist a few or know their style. Don't leave it till to late like us to find somewhere else. They said before "unlimited" trying of gowns before but you will be limited by what they bring out from their 'warehouse'. Hope you will find yours there.

Hi YS, yup.. Think d next time I go down i will insist on trying a few gowns n ask them wad will their action be in d worst case scenario of not finding d rite gown..

Seriously based on my experience aft signing as well as d complaints here, I try not to expect too much fr them le..

It seems like the drama on the gown choices wasn't enough. MDW just lacks the ability to provide holistic service! Instead of the photographer giving suggestions as to where we can go to take good shots, MDW expects ME as a customer, to go find pictures of the place i want to go and send it to them for the photographer to take a look. It is not like the places I'm interested in are located in the Wilderness! I'm looking at Mount Faber + Jewelbox for the night shot. Is that too difficult? Do you not have google? It is exceptionally annoying when the employees are all foreigners and know nothing about Singapore and various places. Totally exasperating to communicate with these guys. Apart from the above complaint, my co-ordinator has been persuading me to do my photo shoot at the typical places like the museum, botanical gdns, where I guess their photographers are most familiar with- something I'm not comfortable doing since there is a high risk that my photos will end up looking like someone else's!

I can't understand why some people are still considering them when the reviews here speak pretty much for itself.

i had nv heard of the GST trick before. Maybe cos i signed up with the HK staff at the fair in 2009 and not the staff located in spore.
Tricia, i think the beauty lies in the beholder's eye ba. =) Cos i think nothing is perfect in this world ba. Maybe MDW have certain areas that some btbs like, thats y will still wana consider. Anyway im goin for my HK shoot soon. Hope everything will go on smoothly. So far everything is still ok.

Hi Tricia, I don't understand your difficulty here. They say cannot to the locations you suggested? I feel mount faber is not worth it if u're going at night but it has been ages since I last went there. I had my shoot in HK and totally enjoyed it,
but I guess my shots are prolly the same as everyone else who went hk heh

Hi YS, they did not say they cannot do the locations that i was considering but rather, they expected me to take photos of the place to show them. I am ok with this, but what I have issues with is the lack of initiative of the co-ordinator to find out where the place is (she clearly had no idea, and I had to spell out Mount Faber for her). I was interested in doing the night shots in the park with the lamp posts lighted up as well as inside the Jewel box. I wasn't too keen on doing day shots in the botanical gardens due to the weather and some skin issues. Not too sure how the industry works but I guess the least they could do was to check out the place via the internet or even visit the place to find out more. It's such a struggle dealing with these people. The purpose of signing up with a bridal studio is so that they will get everything done for us but it seems like this is not the case

Hi tricia, whoa they ask u to take photos of the place to show them??? That just sounds... weird? Isn't that the photographer's job...?

Hey Wintumnsky! So sorry! I just saw your msg and email coz it's not the email I usually check.. Do you know how to activate the private messaging?

I just had my PS earlier this week on 14feb. It was great!!

The mdw team were very hospitable & definitely gave us superb service!
Thanks to these fabulous MDW peeps *hugs* - Mico, Jackson, Max, Yucong, Uncle & not forgetting Mimi!!

I would say that everythg was very well planned, down to the simple details. Such as making sure that we were well sheltered with the brolly wherever we went; providing insect repellent; keeping us well fed with cold drinks, cut fruits & simple snacks; ensuring our valuable items were well taken care of; constantly asking if all is fine & looking out for us when we’re walking on uneven ground; and even helping me change in & out of my heels! Oh another thg, I was very impressed when they erected a full height camping tent for my outdoor change at botanical garden heehee..

I would esp like to compliment them for their patience and the enthusiasm they had, especially so as my bf & I are not the easiest customers to have/serve lolx.. firstly, we know naughts abt posing for the camera & secondly, my super lousy understanding of the mandarin language :x
Luckily for us, the camera man gave us really precise directions (while trying to ensure that I understood his every directive) on how he wanted us to pose, & the rest of the team were ever so enthusiastic thru’out the day to keep joking to nudge as to smile naturally.

Kudos to them for completing the entire day of photoshoot, though tired, but with smiles on both their faces & ours =D

Looking forward to our photo selection =D

hi noir, if i m not wrong, think can try using this method: login > edit profile > preferences > uncheck <do>

i just did the above.. maybe u can try sending me one to see if it works.. hehe..

Hi MDW BTBs, I just got back from my 3rd photo selection and boy am I tired... The photos from our second photoshoot were nice, but I was generally disappointed with those from my first photoshoot...

Basically, they are having trouble delivering the standard shown in their sample albums. For e.g., I told them I want pink trees on some of our botanic garden photos the last time round. I almost fainted when I saw the end result today. We looked like over-exposed humanoids superimposed and floating on a soupy blur of smudged pink background! They tried to say oh its because of this lighting that lighting... Hello everything is pink even the lake water and the pavilion became pink loh! Another one had me underexposed into a bright red background.

It's like they have 2 groups of photoshop artists; 1 to do samples and 1 to do customer's photos. Samples put in alot of effort, customers' ones do express and hope we can't tell the difference.

I didn't read about anybody in this forum having this problem before so I'm hoping this is a one off incident where maybe their main post-production artist fell sick and they got their intern to rush out the job, and we happened to be the 'sway' ones. The difference is painfully obvious. I will die if those awfully photoshopped pics are still there in my next selection
sad.gif

I also requested for some adjustments to the harsh shadows, and they said they can't do that. It's a 30 seconds job on photoshop where any beginner in the craft can do!

I hope I don't have to take back the photos to do the photoshopping myself. We signed up for their photo quality in their samples and the package did not come cheap!

Oh yes, a word of advice to couples driving there, please make sure your parking coupons are enough. We missed by 10 mins and kena summon. haiz.

@ Wintumnsky, I'm trying to activate it but strange they keep prompting me for pw and username which is correct but the system says is wrong.. do u have this problem?

Nope, I didn't encounter such problem but I dunno if it has been activated successfully..

Ur photos r edited by d SG or d HK team? Cause iirc MDW say everything pertaining to d album will be edited by their HQ in HK n they give me d impression dat it means good quality.. Or Mayb I misinterpret it or lik u say dat there is a difference btw sample / wad dey claim n actual.. =(

Hey noir, think they will improve on ur photo editing since they will understand ur expectations n preference aft this session..

I hope so... Actually I thought this was what interviews were for. I now have no idea what the 'interviews' were all about.

BTW, I just sent you a PM, did you manage to receive it?
