I've the booklet of the themes in PDF form. I think they only sent it to me when I booked with them. You still need it? I've no problem sharing...

Just to share a bit.. I went to check out about 4-5 hotels with my bf, and we instantly liked Merchant Court, mainly cos they only have one ballroom, so the entire reception area is yours and private. A few of the other hotels we visited had 2-3, so likely you will be sharing the reception area with another couple on the actual day, especially if you're having your wedding on a weekend. They have high ceiling too, which another hotel we visited didn't, and it kind of feels claustrophobic (to me la). I also like the fact that it's so convenient from the MRT, so my guests wouldn't have to go out of the way to reach the hotel. Plus almost everyone whom I told that I'm holding my wedding at Merchant Court would reply the same thing "Oh I went for a wedding there before. The food is nice!"

You can consider Merchant Court! Heh.. My wedding's next year so can't comment on the actual dinner, but so far so good!

It might have slipped her mind? Just email your coordinator she should be more than ok to reply your mails :)

Hi! Any latest reviews and feedback for this venue? Can anyone share what are the perks we can negotiate for on top of what's already included in their package? Thanks.

There is a promotion for SMC if you sign up before mid Nov where there's extra perks like free flow of beer & wine. And a chance to win free banquet!! Carpark coupons & invitation cards can be increased upon request too. Basically their package is pretty comprehensive already.

Oh i see. The promotional perks you mentioned seem attractive (free flow beer & wine). But did you get to know about those perks when you called them or e-mailed them to enquire? Cos the website doesn't state specifically what are the promotional perks they are offering...

Hi, can anyone send me their pdf or package details. I am also aiming this hotel with my fiancee. [email protected]

Hi Vincent, u can actually dl their pdf package from SG brides itself. Their perks is quite fixed, very small rooms for negotiating for extras. I sign my banquet package with them last yr march when they have their in house wedding fair. Perks is free flow beer, 1 bottle of wine per table and secured 2013 tables rate.

Hi everyone!

My fiance and I just attended the Swissotel Merchant Court Wedding show in Apr 2014 and we have compiled what we liked and didn't like (which wasn't many) about the ballroom and hotel! Do check it out here if you're interested, we also included a snapshot of the 2014 - 2016 rates:

Have fun planning for your wedding fellow Brides to be!

Hi all BTB. I've just had my wedding dinner banquet at Swissotel Merchant Court 2 days ago and would like to share that everything went very smoothly for us! :)

Lightings, sound system & projector were all great. I love the fact that they have a huge area outside the ballroom for cocktail reception. Such segregation gave a very private & personal touch. My in-laws received a lot of compliments from friends & relatives about the whole dinner too!

The team from Swissotel Merchant Court was fantastic.

Our coordinator, Melissa Png, was very helpful & professional. Whenever I made certain personal requests, she will always try her best to get it done for me. She's also very meticulous. Very fast in replying our emails, and getting everything in order prior to our wedding. To have someone that we can count on to assist us throughout the last 9 months of planning really is a blessing. It gave us a peace of mind, which is super important when you have millions of things going on during wedding prep. :)

During the dinner, our Banquet Manager was Vincent. He's very friendly, calm & sharp (very very impt). We felt that he really have a great capacity to hold everything together & make it smooth for us. Thumbs up! :)

Hi all BTBs,

I just had my wedding lunch at SMC last weekend and I would like to share the experience I had!
My hubs and I firstly shortlisted SMC because we wanted an outdoor solemnisation. Swissotel's Merchant Court's poolside gazebo was just right for a nice, cosy solemnisation for family and close friends. The gazebo has ceiling fans, so no worries about feeling warm.

Our co-ordinator/catering manager is Melissa. She is very efficient in follow ups through emails and getting things done, even on her off days! Felt quite bad disturbing her at times.

I was initially apprehensive about the decor and flowers because their given themes didn't suit my wedding theme. Again, Melissa contacted the florist, who very kindly offered to change the flowers to suit our theme. Kudos to the florist!

I believe our banquet manager on that day was Amalina. She was great too! She is very reassuring and handled our whole event well.

The lunch menu was not disappointing either: guests have complimented that the fish was fresh, the wine (their house wine) was good, and the chicken was juicy.

I would strongly recommend SMC to any BTB!

Hi Cescajo,

I just went to SMC last weekend to discussed about the wedding packages and to see the ballroom too. I will be signing up with them next week, am just worried about the weather for the outdoor solemnisation as we need to pay for it. May I know which theme did you use? I understand that they have 3 themes. May I know is it very rush for the solemnisation and tea ceremony? I hope you can advise us on this. Thank you. :)

Hi
Any brides booked SMC for year 2015? Mind to share your packages here? And what to look for as I didn't sign it up during any fair. Thank you. :)

Hi Sher1234,

The weather is a risk you have to take. Not sure if you would believe this, but there is a stick an onion and chilli in the ground belief that keeps the rain away. It was actually threatening to rain but we did that, and the weather held up for us till the solemnisation was over. Only when we went in for the tea ceremony did it rain!!! No kidding! Really thank God for that.

Yes, it was a bit of a rush for the tea ceremony and before the banquet. I didn't have time to change into a tea dress, so I wore my white gown all the way till my 2nd change during the banquet. My make up artist also messed up a little, I got delayed and started lunch late. :( My suggestion is you should either do your tea ceremony at home, or start your solemnisation earlier. Mine was scheduled for 11 am, but my JP was slightly late, so we got delayed a little. You might want to schedule your solemnisation for 10 30. If you don't have much programme in the morning, 11 am is definitely doable. Alternatively, you might want to consider doing your solemnisation on a different day altogether. Then again, it really depends on how many people will be at the tea ceremony. If both your families are small, it should finish pretty fast. Mine took about half hour to 45 minutes.

I chose the Crystal theme. :)

Hi Cescajo,
Thanks very much for your advice.. I will definitely do that, stick an onion and chilli in the ground. Hope to get a fine weather. I am not sure if I can do my solemnisation so early at 10.30am as the hotel only advice us to do at 11am and then 11.30am is to do tea ceremony. My family members and my SO family members not many.. so I think 30 mins is fine. :)

Hi,

Intend to book SMC as our wedding lunch in dec 2016. But heard they are doing renovation and the full renovation will be done by 1 oct 2016. As such they are only taking booking after Oct 2016. And if we book we be the first few to experience the newly renovated. However, we do have some concern if any unforeseen circumstances, we were to push forward, they won't be able to held it due to renovation so we still have some thoughts.

Anyone have wedding there in year 2015? care to share?

i'm not holding my wedding at merchant court but i did attended a fren's banquet last weekend. Convenient location, friendly staff who greet guests at the lobby and directing us to the banquet. The recept area just outside the ballroom was big enough for the usuals (recept table, photobooth, canapes). The ballroom is pillarless and can fit about 20 odd tables. Short march in, but good enough. Chinese lunch menu was not bad, especially love the chicken with thai sauce and seabass. Pork ribs was not a favorite on the table, not tasty at all. Banquet staff are attentive as well.

Just my thoughts. Hope it helps a little.

Cheyenne reply really fast. Probably it is CNY now, she might be busy for it. If it's not urgent, you may want to check with her again next week? Don't worry!
