hihi... I'm also having a wedding lunch next year with SMC.

Just wondering if anyone noticed if there was a handicapped toilet at the restroom area?

I heard of the new theme, purple bliss which they have on top of the 2 old themes.

any comments for the food? i'm pretty sad to hear one of my friends telling me that she just attended dinner at SMC and find the food is awful. She is quite a fussy person, but im nt sure how true is that?? any comments?

Hi Suimitao, i had my dinner on 26th Sept and my guests were quite satisfied with the food. all commented that the quaantity is alot and all praised it.
Even my parents in law who were worried at first about the food quality and quantity had to admit that they were wrong...

that's really soon...can do a review about it here then. Great that you are doing it on a weekend... other places only allow food tasting to be done on weekdays. which menu are you taking?

hey girls.. just want to check... how do you all find the PA system - ie, the screens and their location? anyone tried to use 2 screens at the same time? Coz my parents attended a wedding at merchant court and they mentioned that despite the pillarless ballroom, there are 'blind' spots where ppl cant see the screens...btw, i've booked merchant court as my location alraedy..hmm anyone care to share? =)

i've read abt their PA system here, but a friend who had her weddign there early 2009, said it was ok. my mum attended a wedding there and said no problems faced.

hmm coz my parents attended a wedding there, and were seated like along the wall of the screen, and as a result, cant really see the screen properly.. sigh.. dunno if it'll be the case or not.. any one of you had/intending to have 2 screens?

maybe they had the maximum no. of tables...as a result, tables were placed near the wall? The last time I saw...for about 40 tables...look fine.

shopaholic: haha..u booked more than a year ago huh? have fun at the food tasting!

andrina: ya, coz we were worried the date we wanted would be taken, so once the booking was opened we booked it liao...

Stephanie: if i'm not wrong they will usually discourage u to use both screens, coz one of it is against the windows and will block some space. that was what they told me. u can go take a look first then decide whether to use 2 or 1 screen. i'm having 35 or 37 tables only, so shd be more than enough space and no blocking.

I saw style weddings magazine, a couple brought a white piano in, can check with them.. btw who is ur coordinatior? i feels that every question i ask my coordinatior, he always say dun worry, can discuss abt that when the time is nearer..

hi all, i had my wedding last year and only took one screen. all worked out fine. the sound system worked out fine. tip: arrange with your coordinator earlier to test out the systems to make sure it works.. it eliminates the stress factor on your actual day.

andrina, i had 39 tables and my coordinator was actually Rebecca but she left 2 weeks before my AD! Serene took over. Serene was the head of catering sales but when Rebecca left, she took over. Both were quite good in service.
no one had complaints about not being able to see the screen.

that sounds kinda stressful when your coordinator left 2 weeks before your AD!

How was the service of the serving crew by the way? What's the staff to table ratio?

Recently, I attended 2 weddings...both at pretty famous 5* hotels, shall not say which... one was severely understaffed --> which made them overworked and unfriendly and the other hired almost all foreign workers who couldn't speak Chinese & don't really understand how chinese wedding dinners work...kept throwing the new plate next to the guest during plate changing before every1 had finished the food on the used plate *faintz*

ya man, if i wasnt busy at work, i would be totally stressed and freaked out! luckily, i had work and couldnt really dweel on it.

Service crew? i think its 1 waiter to 2 tables. i had a incident at my banquet. a waiter spilled red wine on my 2 frens. my frens waited til after the banquet then tell me. but the hotel took care about it. They picked up their dresses from their houses the next day and dry cleaned them. so though it was terrible that they spilled wine but their service recovery was ok bah. i think
There were minor complaints like the waiter kept changing the wine glasses though they were not done stuff like that but i wun let this bother you..
The banquet manager was super good!!!! very efficent and professional. Cant rem his name though.

Hello! I'm new and is planning to have a wedding at SMC in 2011 Nov. Went to a few sites and i like what i saw at SMC. Anyone knows how much we need to top up for the solemization venue (either room or poolside) before the dinner? Is it possible to bargain and get it complimentary if we have ard 4o tables?

hmmm...if you want the poolside, it should be starting from 500++ and i dun think it's possible to get it complimentary. dunno about the function room though...

Anyone had their wedding lunch at Merchant Court?

Is it the package does not include food tasting?

Also, the one night stay is in their Swiss Business Advantage Room not Bridal Suite, is it small?

If having solemnization, where can we do it?

Tea-ceremony, not too sure if it would be good before lunch or after lunch.

Sorry for many questions posed.

Pheebs: no prob~ hope your discussion went well.

sherlin: u can do your solemnization at the poolside / function room...think you can email SMC and ask.
