I've just gone down to see Margaret. She's a very nice lady and her gowns are lovely. She gave me alot of advices and stuff.
Really eager to sign. But cost is abit of concern for me. And I'm going to a few more BS before deciding.

Janelle> You can send an email to Margaret at [email protected] to ask for her rates/ packages.

If you want, you can also make an appointment with her to view and try on some of her gowns, she don't hard sell so not to worry.

Oh_Winne> Yeah, her gowns are indeed lovely. I have also viewed other BS before finally settling with MB.

Hi

I rang Margaret few days ago to enquiry some information. It was quite confusing actually... at first she told me that the gown in webs has sold out...so if I liked one of them..i got to M2M. But M2M is more pricy...which i got my own budget.

As currently, i m in overseas..therefore..i m not able to visit her personally. When I asked her about the price off the rack...she said starts from $1800...but when i told her that my wedding will be in indonesia..she then said the price previously quoted is package price. If without package..it will be $2000 started.

Is that right?
Then I asked her..if off the rack is 1st hand..she said nope..it is 2nd or used.

If new will be started with price of $2500...

it does not make sense for me...how come...used one from $2000 while... new $2500 which only $500 different.

I am not experience enough of the bridal information in spore... could anyone of you help me to clarify this matter?

Looking forward for the feedback..

thanks in advance..

I am very headache with the gown..coz my wedding will be in september..but i have not decided yet...

Hi fannytjoe> OTR gowns are usually 2nd hand. Previous brides MTM their gowns but under rental, so after their wedding, it will be kept by Margaret.

Her package can be breakdown into ala-carte. So maybe you want to clarify with her to get the correct info.
happy.gif
No harm doing that.

Hi Pearly

I c... so OTR is 2nd hand gown...

I am considering between Dang, Feline and Margaret... so i got to do lots of research n thought...

thanks again Pearly for yr sharing.

Hi Pearly,

I did email Margaret Bridal... asking the wed gown that in the main web whereby the straps could be removed.. She did email to me which is very efficient in responding the customer's enquiry...

Sigh.. she did explain that that gown still available in "off the rack"..but the price is S$6800 ( i think is 1st gown).. This is totally out of my budget.. so i might find other way..even her gown is extraordinary nice...

When is your wedding, Pearly? have u got yr gown yet?

Hope u don't mind share with me..in this forum.

Fan

Hi fannytjoe, my wedding day is on Christmas day, hw about yours?

I have not got my gown yet, as mine would be MTM for both WG and EG. Will be meeting Margaret in July for my 1st design.

Perharps you might want to MTM the same design you saw on the web too? You can check that with her, who knows it might work and within you budget!

Hi Pearly,

So you will have xmas wedding...
happy.gif

Mine will be 9/9 this year... it is actually lunar 7th month..but we like this date. We tried to change other day but if not because the reception place not available..then it is our photographer not available... so we stick with our 1st choice eventually.

Lucky you that u use Margaret... my friend who saw her web also praised the gown is gorgeous!

May i how you paid MTM with WG and EG with her?
You may email me at [email protected] if you would like to share your experience and package price with me.

Thanks Pearly

Hi all,
I got married last yr on 6th dec
happy.gif

i used Margaret's services as well as the people who she recommended...
happy.gif
and thoroughly appreciate all their invaluable help to make my wedding a success...

Margaret comes across as a rather aloof person initially, but i feel its cos she has a certain degree of professionalism which she maintains, and what may seem extremely direct - is her honest opinion as how she envisions her client and her creation.

Within the first hour of getting to know her- even before signing any contracts, margaret had sketched out 3 designs for me - which was in whole from her creativity, with small contributions from what i wanted, as well as my physique.
Being a bigger bride to be, there were certain factors to consider - like did i want to look taller than my husband, bigger than my husband, or whether i wanted to have an elegant look or a bridal look. What type of lace, where the lace should be etc.

she was honest and thorough, and although it kinda stunned me, i was appreciative of this. I liked her no nonsense manner, and the fact that there was no pushing, no extras. just plain and simple. And most importantly - beautiful.

The costs of my bridal gown and the evening gown was 3.2k, made to measure of cos, with no top ups. this was paid up front to her.

As she makes use of an ala-carte "menu" type of system- she next recommended a fantastic photographer (Benny Ang), an incredible Make up artist (Kelly
happy.gif
who saved the day when we accidentally ripped a hole in my zip before the day started) and my husband got his suits from Oxford - which i must say gave really good service, and had fantastic workmanship. The floral boutique - Green point topped it all off and made sure i had perfect flowers to go with my day. All how i wanted it to be.

I would definitely recommend Margaret and her team to anyone who wants lace, who is fickle minded or who is in need of an ala carte package with a difference. The professionals in this team - are committed and experienced. They love their job, and their job is to make the couples happy and beautiful on their special day

Hi,

I'm considering Di Gio and Margaret Bride's. I was intriqued by MB bec I love Monique Lhuillier dress, which she has the similar design.

But compare to di gio, her price quite expensive.

Has anyone keep the gown?

Which lace is more popular? the difference between Germany lace and French lace is almost 1000$, that's quite a lot.

Thank you, girls

tiffany > according to Margaret, German lace is more popular and most brides choose this as it gives a more modern look. German lace is included in the package.
French lace potrays a more vintage feel and is more expensive so have to top up depending how much lace you want.
I went to Di gio and Margaret. Digio is a one stop bridal shop and price wise is definately affordable. Maraget is alacarte and more expensive, however you pay for her worksmanship and a designer piece.
If you want to keep the gown, I think you have to top up additional 800.

Hi pompmpurin,

Thanks for explaining. I went to see Margaret today, and she was just anyone of you described. She's very experienced and know her stuff well. I can take no-nonsense attitude.

You are right, Di Gio is one stop bridal shop and affordable, while Margaret's gowns are totally classic. It took a while to get the gown that I can tolerate in Di gio, but in MB almost all the dresses are my preferance.

Since I'm going to have my photoshoot in Taiwan, i think i'll go for Margaret.

For MB brides, does her gown enough to wear in big ballroom?

Hi tiffany,

I went to see Margaret yesterday too! wat time was your appointment? mine was 2pm. she's pretty cool. told me she only has one hour for me cos she got another appt so she won't waste time on unncessary matters. i tried 4 gowns, 3 A line with small can cans, really classic. the first MB gown i tried was the ONLY gown my bf commented that look nice cos we have been to quite a few bs. her gowns can still be worn in ballrooms. you just have to state your preference and she will make it happen. she shared with me that she only use sworoski crystals with her lace for the glittering effect. she won't use sequins (which i see in alot of brdial shops) as she said that will make her laces look cheapo. lol

for digio, most of their gowns are imported. they have a wide range of gowns but as you say, it will take a while for you to find something you like. i was at digio with my gf to find gowns for her photoshoot last month so i could have the opportunity to recee all their gowns and after that, i'm sure i won't go for digio.

Hi Pompompurin,

Mine was just before you at 1pm! If I'm not mistaken you were wearing purple? I was there with my fiance when you came in.

If that's you, thats a really nice coincidence. My bf also commented the same thing about MB gown. He said it looks more elegant and classy compare to the previous ones I tried in Di Gio. Di Gio was quite good, but they are rather heavy and big. Which might not suittable for my outdoor solemnisation.

So did you sign up with MB?

Actually I love the Chantilly lace, that's why I come to MB. But considering her price of partial Chantilly lace 7000$, I might not take her package. Unless I settle for her German lace, thats quite okay, within the budget.

Hi Tiffany, yes yes that's me! wat a coincidence! i came a little after 2pm actually. she was talking to you and your fiance and told me to look around for a while.
when i stepped in, i was so impressed by the white english interiors and all her dresses look so nice on the racks.
i have not signed up with MB but i'm seriously considering. shortlisting between MB, Ted Wu and Amanda Lee Weddings. MB is my last bridal stop cos i'm getting tired with all the shopping. Are you still shopping around? When is your wedding?

Chantilly lace is beautiful and vintage looking. German lace as what she says, is more modern and a popular choice. I prolly just go for that if i'm taking MB.

Cool!

yeah, her dresses are really nice and classy. But my problem is in the lace, I dont think i'll go for Chantilly lace with MB. but I will do MTM with german lace if we engage her.

I was thinking of looking for MTM gown that can do Chantilly lace and duchess satin

My AD is 19 and 20th June 2010. How bout urs?

mine's on 23 and 24 oct 2010.. but will be taking overseas photography in mid 2010.

have you been to other bridal shops other than digio and MB? if you really like lace, be it German or Chantilly, i think MB is still the best. somehow the other bs dun quite able to create the elegance that MB can. tt's my opinion after being to 7 bridal shops.

Chantilly and duchness satin combi is very classic and timeless look though.

wow.. I thought mine was early, haha.. I guess you are well prepared. My AD is supposed to be Sept 2010, but we decided to push it fwd bec it seems too long! haha..

I have a gown design in mind, i m not sure if Margaret keen on following the design..
which are the 7 BS? I want to go to Bridal Veil, to look for their collection, have you visit them?

i think she will be open to follow designs, of cos incorporting her own style too. i think i'm just ks lah. slowly source but i can confirm bs later cos it's not like sourcing for venue, scared that the venue gets taken up by others.

i have visited one stop shop bs such as sophia, digio and julia cos my gfs signed up with them. i also went to see ted wu, amanda lee weddings, the wedding present, blush blush, MB, silheoutte for ala carte ones. total 8 bs... i didn't visit bridal veil cos i'm not too keen on simple designs, i prefer something more elaborated.
so far, i have shortlisted ted wu, amanda lee and MB. it's a headache cos these 3 bs all specialise in different areas and i need to know what kinda look i wan for my wedding.. which i still dunno yet. sigh...

I think you like more of elaborated and detailed gown. I know Amanda Lee has a couture collection and i think it looks great if you are looking for edgy gown. I didnt get a good impression on Ted Wu.
The people are rather stuck up and unfriendly. But also maybe bec I walked in without appointment, appearently it's by appointment only.

It's good to narrow down to those 3.. so it's easy to focus. I might going to see Margaret for 2nd time to really ask and look at all her gowns.

Are you going to have the PS with the BS?

tiffany > i will not be taking PS with the BS cos i'm going for overseas photography. so i just started sourcing for PG. How about you? Margaret quoted me 4,800 in total without PG.

i think you should give ted wu another chance. make an appointment before going down cos they dun entertain walk ins. after visiting so many bs, ted wu has one of the best service! really. you will not see ted wu himself but you will meet up with his asst first to look through and try on the gowns. thereafrer the asst will sit down to understand your needs and requirements. she was so patient with me and i remember i was there for 3 hours until my bf nudged me, telling me he needed dinner lol! the asst i met up with was jean and she is really friendly. do give them a chance if you like ted wu's gown. price wise, he's the most expensive but you pay for the detailed worksmanship.

as for amanda lee, i'm going down again today to look at her gowns. this time i will be meeting up with her personally cos the last time i didn't get to see her at the other outlet. Service from alw is also thumbs up!

both ted wu and alw designs can be elaborate and edgy. but thing is i dunno if that's wat i want, or do i prefer something classic. till now, i'm still thinking of the first gown i tried in margaret. haha.

wat do you look for in your gown?

Hi Pompompurin,

Sorry for taking so long to reply. I decided not to go for Margaret bec I want to have French lace for my gown. I will do made to measure gown, based on my favorite gown by Monique Lhuillier, Spring 2010 collection.
With Margaret it will cost me $6980 without PG, PG make up and man's suit .Plus if I want to keep I will need to top up to abt 9k.
That's out of our budget. Besides no point asking Margaret to follow certain design, as it will compromise her stand as designer. I'm sure she wont be happy either.

My preferance is a non-bling gown, no fuss. not a big gown since I'm doing outdoor Holy Matrimony, so no ball-gown. I will prefer with french lace as accent, bec I design my stationery and decoration with lace pattern. I like Margaret's gown because it translate well to my gown preferance.

Have you decide on ur bridal?

Hi all btb,

I have a Margaret Brides gown for sale.
It's a full french chantilly lace bustier gown.
PM me if keen

hey ladies! New to this thread and MB is one of my choices. Am thinking of doing some research first before going down to her.

Will you guys be kind enough to advise me if packages are offered in MB? If so, what are inclusive in the package? and how much did you guys paid for? Thanks alot!! =)

Hi

I made an appointment today and must say I was very please with the wedding gowns I saw.

This thread seems pretty quiet currently. Are there any Margaret Brides BTB here?

shin > Sorry haven't been checking this thread. When I went for my appointment, I had my heart set on a full lace gown and it was too ex, so I went to look at other BS. But after trying on so many gowns, I now feel that partial lace with duchess satin is my favourite combi
happy.gif
Hence will be going back to MB to look, maybe next week.

Btw, I strongly taking a look at Silhouette, they do MB-style gowns very well. I'm now trying to decide between Sil and MB.

cherrylight>just to let you know Margaret will be out of town for a month from this Wed onwards. You should pop by before Wed, if you're keen

Hi girls

I have actually reserved my dress with MB in Jan this year. Margaret is very prompt with her replies to all my queries (& problems) so far and even suggested that I should make a 2nd appointment with her to try on all the full lace WG available at her boutique, just so I can decide what I want.

She was also pretty helpful with recommending what accesories should go with the WG and what type of shoes I should get. Margaret gave me a sample of the lace and satin so that I can get the right colour for the bridal footwear.

Hope you ladies get what you want. Her lace gowns are really gorgeous but the price tags can send you into a mini cardiac arrest occasionally. =)

Hi cheerry light,

I love lace gown too...but the problem i hav now is i have already sign up with a bridal shop which is not good at lacey gown...was told by the designer that they hav not much lace gown becos is not in hot demand in the market nowadays...i was huh???!!?? i have checked out the lace gown in SIL too, like their gown pretty much...may be will just loan a otr gown from them. and now just got to know MB also make good lacegown..really feel like check it out too

laceyblink> I would suggest that you make an appointment with MB and get a feel of what she has to offer there. There's various kind of laces available and you get to choose from either full lace or partial lace. She's not pushy at all (tt's one of my concerns with wedding vendors, they kind of scare me off when they get 'over enthusiastic')..

Hi Janice, I did my gown with Margaret last year but I can't really remember pricing exactly, or if prices have gone up.

If my memory serves me right, it was $3200 for custom made evening gown (to keep) and custom made wedding dress (to be returned). Of course, the price would differ to the type of material you choose as well as the type and quantity of lace. I ended up loving my gown so much that I topped up an amount to keep it! Couldn't bear the thought of someone else wearing my custom made gown. Lol.

I highly recommend Margaret as she has classic beautiful gowns which are skillfully sewn. I went to another better known shop around the Tanjong Pagar area and was quoted $4K plus for a wedding gown alone!

Margaret's quality gowns are more worth every cent for the price you pay. Hope this helps.

Remember not to compromise on the quality of the gown as a gal gets to don a wedding dress only once in a lifetime!

Hi Samantha. Thanks for the reply ;)

That's good to hear. As I'm looking for one that includes prewed shoot and everything.

Do you have the package details to share with me?

My email is [email protected] T H A N K s !

Mine is a a-la-carte from Margaret Brides so do not have the package details. She has the whole works from flowers, photography, videography, make-up, bridal accessories... You can drop Margaret an email and she will reply to it very quickly. Just google Margaret Brides
