Mandarin Oriental Singapore

hi char, the wedding showcase was pretty good. also met chef roy who introduced his speciality dishes. i had taken some pictures from the show so just let me know if you like to view them.

garden suite is indeed a cozy place for a small and intimate event. and all along i wanted a small scale gathering for my wedding celebration. well.. just the part on the march-in.. such a dilemma. thankful for my kind coordinator who is holding both the garden and atrium suite, waiting for me to make up my fickle mind.

hi janice, my coordinator is mark. my htb's friend is also having eve as his coordinator.

yah, it will be more taxing to arrange everything by yourself. but if it's a place you like, it's worth it i guess.

by the way janice and char, i found some old photos of a banquet setup at the garden suite. can try to visualise the layout from there (it doesnt look as bad as i initially imagined..). let me know if you will be interested, can send them to you. cheers!

Hi Mintz, Thanks for sharing the photos!
THanks also Christina. After seeing your photos, I think I just might stick with the Love Theme.

hi all

i'm choosing between Grand Copthorne Waterfront and Oriental... Oriental is a bit ex compare to the latter...

Headache... Any suggestion?

Hi Tricia,
What a conincidence! Last year, my FH & I actually wanted to sign up with Grand Copthorne but after going to Oriental's wedding show, we simply love the food, services and the different themes which they had offered. Furthermore, we felt that in terms of location, Oriental is more convenient cos it's walking distance from City Hall MRT station. You might want to do up a chart and compare what each hotel provides.
Attached is the comparsion list which I had did up last year. You may want to use it as a template. <center><table border=1><tr><td>

Hi there, does anyone know if the function room near the grand ballroom will be decorated if I'm using it for my solemnisation? Or do I have to arrange for my own florist?

Hi,

Allykat, i doubt the function room ll be fully decorated. Maybe oriental ll juz provide the flower on the table tat is used for the solemnisation.

I tink $1000 is needed for the use of the Habour view right?

Hi nehoc, I also quite like the harbour view suite. But my concern is that my relatives gotta shuttle to and fro 1st floor and the harbour suite, so the pre-function reception room will be more convenient...

Hi Allykat,

Just to share with you Habour Suite has a very nice city view and is much more spacious than the pre-function room.

Hi Geray, I didn't enquire abt the harbour suite. Have u been there?

Hi nehoc, any pics of the harbour suite in entirety? Only saw shots of yr solemnisation... btw which level isit on?

Hi Ladies,
does anyone of you knows how is the PA system like in the grand ballroom?
I'm thinking of engaging a small live band, grp of 3, to perform during the dinner. However was told that the system is only suitable for talks and seminar, may not sound good for playing live music. Now, the band coordinator suggest to bring in his speaker &amp; mixer, which also adds on to our cost. As our budget is running low, I'm thinking whether is it necessary to have it or we can just depend on hotel's system.
Appreciate some advices. Thanks!

Hi Christina, are u also a TWD bride? I find yr nick familiar. ;) Anyway I'm engaging Lil Dream and they ever mentioned that oriental sound system is excellent.

Hi all, do you guys know if Oriental are able to cater for 20 tables? Will the Atrium Suites which is used for 15 tables, too small to hold 20 tables?

Hi Yve,
ya, I'm also a TWD bride.
Is Little Dream bringing in their own mixer/speaker? cos I understand from my band that the AV personnel said hotel's system is very basic.

hey gals, i am an oriental bride as well.

I need advice. Currently i am with the co-ordinator who's going on maternity leave soon. But from the start till now, i feel i always have to 'chase' after her for things that she should follow up, now we paid for the deposit nearly a month ago, and within a week that she promise to get back on the receipt, dont have. a few days back, we rung her she said these two days look into it, then yet no call when the two days passed.

Am thinking of changing to mark. But any feedback or experiences with him? To me, the current one is okay, but i think it's very tiring to always email her, msg her and call her when she in the service line she should get back to me. and it's not one time, many times on other occasions on stuff i ask for follow up and its only the beginning i already feel she always very last min or after i go after her, then i will get the updates/follow up. But i dont want to always do that, very frustrating.

So now i thinking i just want a piece of mind, i just want to change co-ordinator, just need one who could deliver promise esp on timeline to follow up with me.

Hi Shannon!!

Your coordinator is also mine. but i signed up with her at the begining of the year so at that time she's not pregnant yet.. at that time she's very nice and friendly, very responsible also.. maybe because of her pregnancy cos pregnant women tend to be more forgetful and also sometimes will have mood swings..

last month we went to the oriental wedding showcase.. saw Mark.. one word - fantastic!! he's very popular, esp with elderly.. very good and smooth talker..friendly, humorous and accomodating.. on the other hand, our coordinator was like very rigid.. chat with her as we had some questions to ask.. everything no no when we asked for certain things to be included etc.. haiz.. hope when she came back from maternity leave everything is better.. my wedding is in sep next year.. when she comes back is already april..

Hi Shannon,
My co-ordinator is Mark. He is really good but mayb he is very popular, so he is very very busy. But he always get things done for us. My FIL was very fussy type but he was very please with Mark's service so far. Mayb u can consider him.

If my memory dont fail me only the chicken boiled soup was served individually from the kitchen. The rest were distributed only on the table.

hi all! I just got married last mth and threw my banquet at the oriental grand ballroom. my coordinator was Sandy. not too bad and acceded to most of our requests. thoroughly enjoyed the banquet and our stay there.

the food, service and decor at Oriental is excellent! my guests enjoyed the banquet a lot!

the only hiccup was we didn't get the favour that we wanted and we were informed quite late. but suppose that's beyond Sandy's control..

hey girls. thanks for the advices. now it all boils to to my hubby's decision. we just really want a prompt service..

oh my wedding day is on 22dec 09, tues @ grand ballroom. this weekend going to discuss bridal package @ tan quee lan st. Just wanna get all the important stuff done in dec. Still thinking if should source for actual day photographer and videographer myself or just use the bridal recommendation. my package exclude all this!

i am so excited. I think oriental brides are really in good hands! food has always been good!

i think i will be doing a mix of love and happiness theme. now only visualising!

Hi nehoc,

For your wedding, which printing services did you look for in printing your inserts?

My wedding is also at Oriental. But felt that lil'art is abit on the higher side.

Thanks for your sharing. Cheers.

Hi all,

Just to ask if anyone who had already signed up the packages with Oriental that have actually exchanged the beer option to red wine per table?

If so, how many red wines did they actually provide per table?

Thanks. Cheers.

Hi Mintz and Christina!
My parents have just come over for a short trip and brought with them some of the photos. I think I'll most likely stick with the Love theme. I love the centre floral arrangement for the bridal table and the colours of the roses used look great. Not sure about the smaller arrangement for the othertables. Either I top up to make all the same or think of something else for the guest tables. Still hoping that I can see something set up when I got back to SG in Jan 09.

Kai - I'm not changing anything with the drinks cos I'm going to bring in about 5 cases of wine from Perth.

Learnt that there will be new wedding favours coming up in Jan. :P They sound cute but doubt I'll take them. Like heart shaped -clamp (dunno what its like but sounds like some music gadget), measuring spoon, etc.

Hi KaiStarz,
Free flow of beer &amp; red wine per confirmed table were the promo for 2008 package i dont know whether these still apply to 09

I am using lil'art

hi char, think i will be going for love theme as well. have you seen the floral arrangment for the normal guest tables? if not just give me a buzz, i have photos for those.

maybe it's only me.. but i don't really like the idea of having downward pointing flowers for the bridal table. might try to see if oriental can do up an alternative arrangement instead.

Hi Mintz,

Yeah, I saw the photos for the guest tables, but I like an arrangement that sits lower. I have to say that I thought that the roses pointing downward seemed awkward at 1st, but I think I kind of like them. It gives a more relaxed feel. I liked the green? flowers, but I noticed that in the brochure they are not green. So I think that they might just use whatever flowers are more convenient. I think I will find out what has been used for this show and request for them.
