Mandarin Oriental Singapore

totoro_gal, most likely, i will be choosing champange rose. I actually thought of putting some rose petals around on all tables.

I also find VIP tables abit plain. But have no idea how to decor it. I will be meeting up with mark on the coming tuesday. See what ideas can i get from him.

hi xinyi

why dont u choose red roses on the VIP centrepiece , and champagne roses for the normal tables? this is what i am planning. I am also thinking of asking them to tie red sash round the chairs for VIP table....hope they are agreeable.

hi xinyi

actually i am thinking of using different colour of rose for the aisle and different colour of rose for the table centrepiece...haha wait too many colours. I am even thinking of doing different colour of roses for alternate tables...crazy idea but dunno whether they will agree.

totoro_gal, i actually discuss with my friends before.. they feel too many colour contrast might spoilt the decor, which i agrees with them.

Red and white roses might look like singapore flag eh... haha.. Red sash at VIP table.. does not really sounds matching. Sounds like mixing of Love and Xi theme.

i trying to keep within 3 colours. i am still thinking of the 3rd colour.

hi xinyi_reiko

3 colours? what do u mean? which 3 colours u choose?

I am not mixing red and white roses...it will be pure red roses at VIP table plus red table sash...thats what i am thinking, but i havent discussed with my wedding planner yet.

Actually my htb quite like the Xi theme. But we have yet to see a wedding with that setup so cant comment yet.

hi totoro_gal, i thinking of having 3 colours.. now love theme having white and gold. adding champange roses will be 3 colours.. hmm.. come to think of it, the colours are very smiliar. haha.. do you think yellow roses are matching with love theme??

Hi xinyi_reiko

Yellow roses?? I think champagne roses is better. Yellow roses may look like chrysanthemum which is not definitely not a flower for wedding.

Hi gals

Has anyone been to the Oriental's lunch banquet instead of the dinner?

Realised that some dishes in the dinner are not available for lunch, like the cod fish, and this is not even available in the upgrade menu.

My mum attended a dinner wedding and another lunch wedding at Oriental, and her feedback was that the lunch wasn't too good, but dinner was fantastic. Appreciate any feedback on this, thanks!

totoro_gal, met up with mark yesterday.. he said got couple use red roses... he took a pic of the red roses setup.. it nice and elegant. So we decided to have red roses for the 2 VIP tables.. and the rest stick to champange roses.

hi xinyi_reiko

sounds good, red roses for VIP and champagne roses for normal tables, that is my plan also.
what abt the aisle and doorway ? champagne roses ? you must be v excited now

Hi all,

I have done a round of hotel viewing and am down to two hotels which I quite like- Oriental vs Intercontinental. The prices are similar and my hubby and I really cannot make up our mind about which hotel to choose. I am quite concerned about the quality of food and service. Please give me your feedback.. Thanks!! =)

Hi Eileen

Intercontinental is one of my choices too. But I find the reception a bit crampy and didnt get a really warmth service at the initial enquiry.

I have chosen Oriental in the end and till now no regrets. Thumbs up for their superb service!

Hi, just wondering who was the bride at Atrium Suite yesterday? I popped by and saw your Happiness Theme decor. Want to ask how you and your guests find the food and service? Thanks in advance!

Hi Cadence,

Thank for your advise! I personally find Intercon's service at initial enquiry really disappointing too! Will seriously consider Oriental. My only concern is.. I wonder how Oriental's ballroom looks like when done up? Will the walk-in be too short due to the layout of the ballroom?

Hi Eileen

How many tables are you looking at? They have a long march in as well. Probably you will like to meet up with the coordinators. They can show you around.

Hi Cadence,

I am looking at abt 25-27 tables. Their minimum is 30.. So I will have to top-up mu menu. But I already made an appointment to go down to pay my deposit. When is your big day? =)

Hi Eileen, parking is a nightmare at Intercontinental. For Oriental, guests can try parking at Suntec, Millenia Walk,, etc. I had to go all the way to Bencoolen St the last time I attended a function at Intercon. A lot of guests were late as a result..

Hi all, just hope to really share the joy we had at Mandarin Oriental. Our actual day was on 25th May 08 and I must say that the service there is outstanding. Firstly I must comment on the Senior Banquet Manager Mark whose service was superb, he will always go the extra mile for you to make it a wonderful experience for you.

The food there needless to say...Fabulous! That is the comment that was coming from most of our guests' mouth when they left our wedding.

The chef even personally came out and ask us for the comments on the food after the wedding and not forgetting he specially made additional portions of the desert which I liked..haha

In conclusion, best place and most recommended. It's a place where your most memorable day should be held at.

They made our day memorable and unforgettable. Hope they will be able to make your day equally sweet too. :p

My only grouse is the stage setup, don't like the divider backdrop, looks too flimsy.

I'm thinking to get an external decorator to do up a proper backing with drapes, etc. The other 5* hotels I went to all have very grand & elegant stage setup.

Hi Garry,

Can you share with us some examples/scenarios of their superb services that they had provided for you on your AD?

Thanks.

Hi all finally my AD is over.

Very good experience with oriental. Good service from Mark chan. That day was the 1st day of PC show. I told my concern to mark. He immediately reserve 50 valet parking lots for me. To just incase my guests unable to find any parking lots.

Also wants to thanks the wedding butler, who take care the whole banquet operation to ensure everything went smoothly. There are some cock ups on my guests part. And he able to provide solutions and settle it fast.

Lastly wants to thanks them to assign a personal assistant to help to carry my gowns, when I was moving around.

My guests praises the food. Thumbs up for the food.

KaiStarz, i am bad at giving feedback on food.. But what i gotten from my guests is 1st dish Silver Bait is good! I also love it. My guests praises the sharkfin soup, cod fish, deep fried mini buns and the yam paste are great!
I personally love the silver bait, sharkfin soup and the mini buns.

As for duck, is special but also depends on personal preferences. Some ppl does not like duck. For me I dont like roast chicken, thats why i choose duck.

xinyi... is ok. remember to sent mi once is ready ok.. thanks

I am about to placed a deposit 5k but still considering the setup.

Hi reinn, I may get an events guy to dress up the stage a bit.

Hi xinyi, did you place yr stage at the far end? I'd like a long march-in but guests at the back won't be able to see. :[

Allykat, yap.. i place the stage far end... i had your concerns before.. but then again.. after the wedding i realised.. i didnt spend alot of time on stage. 1st march-in less than 5 mins.. 2nd march-in less than 10 mins.. I really think long march-in is grand and the way they arrange the tables.. everyone can see you clearly when march in. and guests are pretty close to you..

Hi xinyi_reiko,

I agree with u that long march-in is more grand. I might be doing that too.
happy.gif

But no choice the guests at the back is unable to c. Maybe can watch through the projector?

When you upload your wedding pics in mulitply, do let us know k.

Thanks.
Cheers.

KaiStarz, base on my experience on various wedding dinners.. alot of tables are placed pretty away from the aisle, then ppl like me seated far away.. very difficult to see the couple march in. Long march-in in oriental, 2 rows of tables each side.. alot of my guests able to see us clearly. and also something like a church wedding.. haha.. i did asked around.. my friends commented more on the food.. the table settings.. not much ppl actually notice on stage..

Dont worry, i will sure post my wedding photos for the Oriental BTBs. =)

xinyi. i dun have mulitply. but would be nice if i can c ur pics. i saw e ballroom set up (love theme) is v nice set up but i find is rather plain. as wad xinyi suggest might have 2 different colors of flowers to match.
but i dun have so many tables so might be taking up the atrium.
