Hi everyone, just wanted to check with u on whether Oriental gives away complimentary wine to each of the confirmed tables? Does anyone have any valuable experience to share and pics if possible?? Thanks a lot. My FH & I are seriously considering the Oriental but just tat it seems so costly... Do u know if they have any Wedding shows in the pipeline? My email is [email protected] =)
 
Hi ladies, can anybody share your wedding dinner photos with me?i'm considering Oriental and wld like to have a better idea of the dinner set-up. btw has anybody held your solemnsation and dinner on the same day at oriental? how was it arranged? I understand the harbour terrace is a nice place, do they provides complimentary solemnisation there? Thanks!
 
Hi BenDi, actually I have already gone down to Oriental before and I do have their package. However, I just wanted to check out on whether they do give out free wine in the past so that I can better negotiate with them ma.. =P
 
Hi Connz, haf u booked with them yet? When is ur AD? Mine is supposedly to be in April 07 but I think we will need to check out the dates using the Tong Shu or something, which is currently not out yet...very worried abt how we can proceed from here...

but if u have quite a number of tables.. u can try to negotiate for free wine corkage like I did..

esp if u plan to bring in your own consignment of wine.. that time for me, if I use their house pour wine, it's free corkage but we dun like their house pour so nego for free wine corkage..

hallo starstar, the tables tat i am looking at are only 30. I was just wondering wat other perks Oriental can give to us since they are not exactly very cheap. Do u know wat kind of wedding favours they have?
 
hi babyfluff, my AD was in dec 2004. we also bargain 4 corkage waive. tt time, they gav in 2 mos of our request as we postponed our wedding due 2 their renovation. we chose e terry bears 4 our favours n it was snap up v fast.... my friends hv 2 request mor frm cordinator.

they have a few choices of wedding favours..for me, I had mine dinner in march 05... guess by now, the favours may changed..need to check wif your coord on this..

It's ok...no prob at all... =) so which BS did u use for ur wedding?? Were they gd? Hiaz... originally my AD was supposed to be in April 07...but due to the fact that we do not have any auspicious dates in tat mth, we can either consider Jan 07, Feb 07 or Oct 07. Sad right?? The dates are so far apart...*sob*

icic...we are using Amanda Lee...bf and I like her style a lot and she's a rather amicable person so will most probably sign wit her..Our AD has been postponed from April 07 to Oct 07. *sob*

oriental brides, can I know who is your coordinator, I got MARK and not very happy with his service, he always call me at the wrong time and same goes to me. We have got the same lunch time and he is forever out during the lunch hour and I can only use my phone at that time. from 0930-1200/1300 I normally assisting my docs and when I leave him msg, either not sent or he just ignore. I told another girl to ask him to call my husband but husband never receive any call.

I have signed up already. Yes we have negotiated for corkage waiver. It can be done. Btw, Mark's assistant is Sandy. I guess we all have to give them a little leeway since the whole dept of Oriental has just been changed and Mark is the main person manning the fort.

Btw BenDi, I tot u were taking Grand Hyatt?
 
Ya, almost sign up with them till I had a talk with my husband, found that this is really a lifetime thingy and I really want a place that I really want. Hyatt can only give me the camelia room which is a bit pathetic as it is along the corridor. I only have very very close relatives and very close friends, we want that day to be our perfect day, unlike my ROM. Spoke to my mum again today,"not that you can't afford, just do it as it will only come once"

So glad to know that you manage to that the corkage waived, hope we are able to. Anyway, are you taking the ballroom? We are looking at the garden suite and the pre function area is really very nice.
 
Baby... great to knw tht u hv settled the venue. So happy for u, dear. Spoke to Mark once. He seems as a very nice guy. Sandra is an angel.Will be goin down to Oriental tis sat to take a look at the ballroom. If we like it, then hv to discuss the menu. I'm hoping to get corkage waived.

BenDi - Yup. Hyatt's rooms are rather patheic. If not their package was really good. Wedding is once in a lifetime. Do it the way u want it. Else wait regret.
 
hey i highly recommand one of the banquet in charge for wedding dinner in Oriental His name is Cha Lee. A gd over all person you can depend on

I had the same case with you. I almost sign up with Hyatt, Camilia Room, and at last min I change my mind to Oriental at Garden Suites. I was worried that I made a bad choice since Hyatt package is much more attractive. But then after the dinner I have no regrets.

The ambience and the food is much better at Oriental than Hyatt.

But just to let you know if you want the longer march in, u have to limit ur table to max of 12. Better if you have 10 only. Reason being, the shape of the room is rather odd and not easy to put the tables without getting any blockage. I had 14 tables and it really looks very cramp. Some tables cannot even see the montage.

Yah we went to the ballroom and fell in love with the ambience...It's a million times better than Hyatt and it has High Ceilings!!! A very impt criteria for me to consider... =) Yes, they do provide Projector. Yah I have met up with Mark and I do think he's a very nice guy. Very helpful.

BenDi, yah I'm taking the ballroom. So how many tables are u looking at?? U confirm taking Oriental liaoz?? Garden Suite seems nice. U taking a dinner or a luncheon?
 
Sphire, you are going to oriental tomorrow to view the garden suite? So good, we can't go as their appointments are full. So sad, I really wanna see the garden suite myself.

They provide projector at no cost? So good. don't have to run around to look for one.
Thanks chummy for your advice, I really "hand pick" my guests, max 13 tables. standby the 13th for my oversea relatives-2 family kiv can come.

I've been looking at Oriental's main ballroom too. It's pretty isn't it. After looking at Conrad, Fullerton and Oriental, we actually are most keen on Oriental. The package is really comprehensive too. Have met up with Mark twice to discuss the package already. Hopefully the next time we met him, it is to sign the contract. Whenever we are in the Marina square/Suntec area on saturdays, we will sneak into the ballroom about 6pm to check out the setup for the wedding that day.

oh yes, im looking at 30+ tables. you?

Yah..Oriental has a lovely ballroom, plus a great ambience to match. As much as the place is nice, I wouldn't say their package is tat comprehensive as they are on the higher side as compared to places like Hyatt & Marriot. Moreover, we'll have to provide our own wine, unlike some of the other hotels that I have been to.

So when is ur AD? Excited? Mine is in Oct 07. Still a long way to go. Now am still in the midst of the BS negotiations. Will haf to wait until my FH comes bk from his overseas trip in Aug to finalize all the outstanding matters. And yes, I am tentatively looking at ard 35 tables as well. =)

Bendi - Mi went to Oriental yesterday to view the ballroom. Sandy told mi to go take a look at the ballroom first. No appointments need. A guy named Ricky actually assisted us when we were there. Nice of him. The setting was beautiful.
 
Hi all, I'm currently looking for venue for my 07 wedding. I would love to find out more abt Oriental after hearing all the gd comments here. yesterday we actually went there to take a look, there was an event at garden suite, not wedding but auction kinda thing so we can't see anything, there was a wedding at the main ballroom so we can't go as well cos too many guests, we were there late at about 7 plus.=(

But we have made appointment with Mark this coming thu to see their garden suite and bridal suite.

We are looking at 12 tables so no point looking at the ballroom, unless talking about the decoration.

Definately taking a dinner package as my husband himself doesn't even like to attend luncheon.<-- he is weird, I see no problem having a luncheon.

Oriental has special price for wine? Can anyone share with me about the charges?

Baby - How many setting does Oriental hv? Saturday's was black setting. I've paid minimal deposit with Yvonne Creative. Will be sticking with them. Once I've settled my venue then I'll follow up to fine tune my package with YC. Hvent yet looked into VG and PG. If I come across any good ones will update u.

Veron - I'm is an indian package. Hence it wldnt be useful for u. U cld contact Oriental at 63380066 and request to speak to wedding banquet sales department.

BenDi - Guess u r rite. Different rooms will give different views. Probably u cld check when Garden suite is hving a wedding. At least u get to see the real thing. My FH also doesnt like luncheon. He said no one will come. Not sure if Oriental has special price for wines. But looking at the price list given to mi, its really steep. Hoping to fight for corkage waiver. Hence can get cheaper good wines from dealers.

if not wrong, Oriental has house wines... it's at a special rate.. usu if u take their house pour.. the corkage is usu waived... but if dun plan to take their house pour, always good to fight for corkage waiver...

Oriental has abt 8-10 Colour themes. They have gold, crinkled gold, maroon, silver, green etc... quite a few..u can ask Mark...he'll fill u in with the details.

low ceiling? The room is so much smaller than expected. My appt AGAIN being postpone to coming saturday.

First appt on 30/6/06, cancel by Mark as he said it will be closed for auction event.

Second appt on 6/7/06, cancel today by Mark as he said got VVIP in the hotel and all rooms will be blocked.

Third appt on 8/7/06, pending.

Well, I am not suppose to say this but my working place also got super VVIPs come every 3-4 months and I've never see any of the department closed or blocked or stopped visitors from entering my working place.

My sisters and I ever witnessed PN at Meritus Mandarin together with MrsN. I seriously think this is ridiculous esp. when he told me he only found out today morning and all rooms will be blocked from today till Friday and he knows nothing about it.

When there are VIPs/VVIPs coming to our departments, we will be informed at least 2 days in advanced. I am quite disappointment.
