hi all,
am new here and a 2008 BTB.
Oriental is one of my choices for my wedding dinner, and wondering if anyone has the 2008 package for Oriental? if, so could you share it with me? also, i'm expecting about 50-60 tables, does anyone know what's the maximum capacity of Oriental?
thanks!

Anyone have any experience having a smaller wedding at the Oriental? We are looking for 10 tables max and I like the look of the garden terrace. We would like some dancing after dinner too. Any advice much appreciated.

Hi Emma,

If u have 10 tables max, u might have some space for dancing..but not much. But some tables might have block view as well due to the odd shape of the room.
I did mine at Garden suite, in terms of ambience it is slightly niceer than atrium suite..just a bit cramp..

Thanks Chummy!!
We had a peak in the garden suite on Saturday (as I haven't been able to make an appointment with any of the wedding consultants yet - they seem a bit elusive) and it looked quite nice. Still struggling to decide on our venue and running out of time!
Shortlist is Scarlet hotel, Senso restaurant, oriental hotel and orchid country club. Such different places (and prices) just can't decide what to go for!

Hi Emma,

Ur choice is really differ one from another.

Never been to the other 3 places, so cannot comment much. But if u r looking for place to dance n casual setting Oriental might not very suitable.
Oriental is more on elegant sitting down dinner, specially for garden suite.. cos of the setting more like a cozy living room.

The pics shared by Bendi with the black theme is my AD pics.. u can take a peep there too..

But one thing for sure..it is a place to pamper urself coz the harbour suite is fabulous

Emma, I just remember, Oriental have outdoor venues, beside the swimming pool. It is bigger than garden suite. U might wanna consider that if ur wedding not on the rainy season..

Totally different ambience from Garden suites.. but same service..

i have some discussion with oriental, and it seems that they are quite sticky with the freebies. nothing fabulous..

she just said if u need more parking coupons, or wedding cards, can get from her. but not too much, like 5 pcs!

can u believe that - 5 pcs?

anyway, do u think its worthwhile to take up with them as my no of tables cannot be catered in the grandballroom.. so maybe not so worthwhile cos dont get to enjoy the piano, and private reception but yet pay the same price $888+++ for weekend... plus some other freebies also dun hv. like i only will have 1N bridal suite and no food tasting.

oh gosh!! do u need my help? quite scary le.

up to now, i dun hv any problem getting hold of my coordinator... well maybe cos she is waiting for me to sign the contract la...

scally after signing, its another thing - then maybe also difficult to find her. from the sound of it, looks like its possible that they may be hard to locate after the contract is signed.

do u need my help - i ask yiwen to ask your coordinator to return call to u? who is your conordinator from oriental?

Hi!

I'm considering Oriental for my AD, would anyone be so kind to give me a review on the food, and service of the banquet staff on the actual day?

Appreciate it loads!

Hi Emma,

I've attended my colleague's wedding at Oriental poolside for about 100 pax. Its BEAUTIFUL. The ambience was really nice, and the western buffet was fanstatic! The setup was lovely (it helps that it was really breezy that night and weather was great!)

Left a really lasting impression on me.

hey fanny...it's scary. after so many days, Mark (the manager in charge) finally replied (on Friday....after one whole wk)my email. they also waiting for mi to sign ah..how come treat me lydat?? Even the coordinator is pretty screw up..i emailed her previously to make appointment..she did not reply at all for days. i left a number for her to call too,but no reply. finally i called direct to the manager n made appointment.as courtesy, i emailed Sandy to say can ignore my email since she didn't reply, i've managed to make appointment le...n her response was :"thank you for your reply, we are pleased to confirm your appointment"..what the?!??!....thank you for your reply? i thought she should be the one replying?!. Think my coordinator is Sandy but i liaise with manager direct (he did not tell mi which coordinator handles my case..but from what i heard from a friend who used to be from oriental, she said htere's only one coordinator then --that was a few mths back). actually i heard from fellow hoteliers that their replies be it emails/ phone rather screw up. They did not even do a followup after i met up with them! n asked me if i wanna go to the wedding show. after consideration, i said yes and wanan sign, but they did not give mi tix or reply me! I even heard this scary thing from a fren in a neighbouring hotel of Oriental, saying tat a couple was not able to get hold of operations guys of Oriental nearing to the date of their wedding, n had to call that neighbouring hotel for help, thinking that they may know some secret number that we consumers don't know.

it's seriously scary to be handing our big day to such people leh!...sharks.i'm having jelly feet now but i got not much choice as most hotels are packed for end of the year.

chummy, did you use the projector and screen during the AD? i went to view the garden suite, and it appears that at least 5-6 tables on the extreme right side (those alongside the windows) will not be able to see the screen.

the same goes for the left side - those on the extreme left side will be seeing the side of the stage, and their view of the video/ foto montage will be blocked by the stage.

so im still contemplating whether to sign up with them a not.

Hi TY,

Yes I use projector n screen. Yup. Not all guest wld be able to see the montage conveniently if u hv more than 12 tables.
If u have 12 or less... u can arrange to make all the tables to be able to see the montage clearly.

The price is really getting more n more ex now..

yea...me and my girlfriend were there yesterday too. Like the oriental look, but wondering as to what the quality of food there is like, and how are the bridal suites? And the service standard?

comments anyone?

gosh really disliked all the themes.

thats why i did not sign up then, though was prepared to already. i realised the garden suite was a lot of problems - i believe the guests will be blocked when i play the video/foto montage, cos i positioned myself at all the corners, sides of the garden suite.

bridal suite is ugly - when i mean compared to a few that i have seen. the interior looks old.

i think oriental look is the better one of all the four, next followed by garden theme if you dont mind the green table cloth. worst is the dark grey (dream theme) and the all white theme (love theme) that looks like a funeral.
