List of Things to Buy

This is to the brides who have already gotten married and had gone through the rigor of marriage planning!

I was actually quite relaxed about my planning, until I looked through the forum, on things people are selling, that I realise there are actually many small small things I need to buy. And I probably will not realise I do not have them until the day before or something, cos they are so insignificant, but actually important?

Some examples are, flower basket for flower girl, guest book, angpow box (I think my hotel will provide, need to check), pens for signing book, flower petals etc.

So I'm wondering, is there a kind (and meticulous) bride here who doesn't mind sharing the list of all these nitty gritties that need to be bought? Thanks SO MUCH in advance!

StephF, the list of nitty gritty stuff can be extremely long if you are looking at making extra effort spice up the deco of your wedding.
and here, i'm looking at the banquet only. If you're talking about the entire wedding, there's a lot more e.g GDL items (base on dialects), An Chuang items etc.

but generally, guestbook, angbao box and wedding favors are provided by most hotel. They will also provide the standard hotel pens for your registration table.
some of the hotels may be nice enough to add a bit of flower deco e.g table centrepiece.

if you are looking at DIY the above then of course you need to add in these stuff to your things to buy list.
flower petals, big party poppers can be use for your march in. can check with hotel if they provide though i think the mostly not.. ? not sure either.

all other decorative items to be use should be on your own expense. so depending on how you want to decorate the list goes on from there.
some examples are bears, ferris wheel musica box, figurines, etc.
some might wan to buy color pens, markers etc. Music CDs if you are not going with the hotel's.

perhaps, you may wan to think through what/how would you wan to deco your wedding reception first. from there then you can list out what are the stuff you need to buy.

Nah I'm not planning to DIY anything.. Guests don't notice those things I feel..

For the Guo Da Li things I'm just going to leave it to the elders, so none of my biz too.. (I hope)

I'm thinking more of those things you wouldn't think u need then maybe the day before or the day itself realize, " shit I didn't buy a flower basket for my flower girl!" those kinds things.. Haha..

Think of your theme then you start planning for there.. I had bad experience wif my hubby's bro wedding. They obviously din plan anything then that day itself realise tt hotel only provide those ugly black market so I have to rush to paper market at Raffles City to get some decent pens n deco. Can you imagine tt the guest are beginning to stroll in n I am at a corner pasting rose deco onto the pen n blowing it desperately to dry it... The hotel will normally provide basic items if you are aright with it then don't worry. Enjoy the process of planning wedding which i do n very much of it.

Take some time to imagine how u want your wedding to look like n most imptly not to be stress.

Icic... personally i feel there is no standard list of things to buy because, it's really up to how your wedding is going to be/have.
myself, i didn't have any flower girl, so i totally dont have to get basket, dress etc. but i had DIY guest'book', angbao box, wedding favors. so i had more other stuff to buy.
but i think one pretty common item to buy would be colour pens?

as for those GDL/An chuang items, more or less is pretty standard... you may want to source for your own new set of sheets/pyjamas etc?

talk abt bed sheets! anyone have any recommendation where to get it?? Nice cute bedsheets with the wedding couple cartoon?

Colour pens... got it! Will check with the hotel if they will be providing the guest book.. I personally do not care much for it, cos most pple just scribble generic congratulatory notes.. haha..

LOLx!
Many ppl will want to get everything new, coz it's a new start a new family. get a bedsheet that you will still use again so it wont be a waste

Huh bedsheets also need to buy... why so troublesome to get married one... o_O

haha. i even got myself a entire new set of bedding i.e frame, mattress, pillow, bloster, of course the sheets. :D

true.. it's really up to individual preference. my friend gave me an idea which i had used - poster form.

so when i shift to my new house, it'll be put into good use - hang it up as an art ... :)

as for her own wedding, she did in a wishing tree format - a change of idea... interesting too..

Cos my house won't be ready by the time we marry la.. Either that or it will be ready just when we get married.. So I was planning to do furniture shopping only during the reno period. But depends on what our parents want la.. If they need that for the customs we will buy lor.

lemonzil I can see that you went crazy shopping for your wedding! :)

StepF, my house isn't ready too. The entire new set of bedding is now place at my IL's house. my hubby currently stays with me at my place. We're also waiting for our flat to be ready...

Well, yes, lots of shopping done... good thing the bed frame and mattress was a gift from my ILs.
