Hi hapict i agree that it's very expensive. For my case i take it as a investment for my back pain.I have been in and out of physio, specialist and massage centres just because i have a serious back pain. Finally i decided to get a tempur mattress at hommage using 24mths visa 0% payment plan. And till now i since regreted not getting tempur not getting now since last time.

Hi bini,

I saw something similiar (King Koil Richmond) in Robinsons couple of weeks ago. But they are selling much more expensive. The sales guy there kept on saying that the mattress are exculsive to Robinsons & we can't find it elsewhere.

Wonder if it's really true and are there really alot of KK models out there?

The one I tried at Robinsons is real comfy.

Same as KK Richmond, it has a layer of latex on top.

I found that KK is not really worth the price. Why dont you find out the specs and try other brands with similar specs before deciding on which one to get.Who knows you may find another brand with the same comfort but at a cheaper price.

charles would rec u tempur! see postings above. haha... i m really tempted to get tempur but it is v hard as i m tight on budget after hse, reno, weddin. n i m not even talkin abt honeymoon ok... =| u can find tempur at furniture mall one of the shops sorry i forgot the name.

bini & thomson bride
went kingkoil shop n they said the mattresses all the same, except for the colour/pattern of the paddin on top n the model name. i read abt these somewhere also leh.

charles

1)Hi thomson bride,Hapict is right.I would still recommend Tempur. It is the only medically approved mattress in the market.

2)FYI KK has 1 mattress that has 20 over different names in the market.

3)If you want to get visco elastic why not get the original company Tempur. With a budget of 3K you can get the 15cm combi @$3699 or the 12cm combi @$3299.If paying 1 time is very damaging to your pockets(it sure will to mine) than try going to Hommage Furniture to get it cos you can pay with 0% monthly instalment plan with your DBS or POSB or UOB visa like what i did.

For 3K i would rather you get Tempur honestly.
KK was never famous for visco elastic.
Serta is famous for continous wire coil.
Simmons for individual pocketed spring.
Sealy for posturepedic spring.

A good way to test if they are good is to move on the bed when your parther is laying down.Confirm can feel the movement.

Nowadays when people buy mattresses what they dont realize is that they are paying for the comfort and not the support it gives.Ask any mattress dealers one thing, are their mattresses using different springs for different sections or are they using all the same density and strength for the whole mattress.I can confirm they are using the same type of springs in the whole mattress no matter what company it is from.

Hi Secret, if you spend 3K on an imitation are you happy or would you rather get the original?

Charles Poon: I did not spend 3k at all!!! Please do not try to read my brains :p
I couldn't imagine spending 3k for a stupig mattress? my back is not made of gold :p and I am not born with golden or diamond spoon in my mouth hehehehe :p

And besides, this visco elastic from robinson when my partner is laying down, I can't feel his movement. and we both love it heaps after finding so hard for a mattress because 1 of us love soft the other love hard.

We did tried Tempur, but we didn't quite like it because 1st: Price, 2nd: the mattress is too thin ... ...

Hapict: Ours is a Queen Size, and We waited for robinson sale and got it for about 2k or slightly less. Can't remember as I bought it during June but I know it is definately not 3k and not over 2.5k, it is about 2k or $1998.

I don't know how you all may feel but to me, who is setting up a family, any additional $$$ will certainly do me good because I rather spend it on else where, so whether it is original or imitation it doesn't matter as long as it meets my own and partner's personal comfort level. So maybe Charles Poon, you have high standards of comfort??? no offence :p

charles poon: Oh i am curious by the way are u the spokeman for Tempur, because from your message it seems like you are full gear promoting for them and seemed quite offended about other brands???

That is just my personal view :p

And also I think different people have different preference to which brands of mattress and I am sure they have different criterias when they go out looking for a mattress, so it doesn't mean that other brands are no good.

As for medically approved mattress I don't know how true is it, because king koil also did mentioned that their mattress have been used in don't know which countries hospital. It might just be promotional advert ... ...

I don't know so in my opinon just let those people who are buying mattress judge for themselves :p I just provide my own feedback :p

Cheers

Hi Secret, sorry i was trying to read your mind.I also dont have a silver spoon when i was born that was why i bought it with instalment plan.
I can understand why you didn't choose Tempur due to it's price(it is expensive). But the thickness is what i can't understand.Isn't it easier and cheaper to get a 8 inch bedsheet?
I dont have a high standard of comfort but if you have back problems like me you will feel that that amount is worth it.
Of course i am not their spokesman Secret,i feel offended because of one simple thing.
None of the mattresses gave me a back that is free from pain and aches when i wake up.
Each brands have their own specialities for example
Dunlopillo for their latex
Serta for their continous coil
Sealy for their posturepedic spring
Simmons for their individual pocket spring
and etc.
Tempur is used locally.
Well Secret, it is these feedbacks and postings that more people are aware of what they are getting and not getting cheated.I do hope that more people are willing to speak up and tell their views like you and me so that more will benefit.

Charles Phoon: hmm, for me 8" height might be an issue because of our bed frame, didn't want it to look off proportion.

Not sure but for sure I know 1 thing, different people suit different brands, so we cant generalise that 1 particular brand is better :p

Anyway Cheers, that is my thoughts for now :p

er secret
it was me telling charles tat i intend to spend 3k for king koil visco elastic mattress lah.
i m also not rich but i appreciate comfort n after testing so many beds, i honestly think tempur is the best. but FH dont wan spend 5k on king size tempur. so i m v sad. even if i buy a thin layer of tempur at a cheaper price to lay over a mattress, i feel no point might as well get the actual one.

i tot all mattress in robinson v x. i must go look more carefully then. i m really on tight budget.

charles
many thanks for sharin your info n knowledge.

hi hapict

I think you read wrongly, charles was telling me this: "Hi Secret, if you spend 3K on an imitation are you happy or would you rather get the original?" from his previous message so I am assuming he thinks I paid 3k for it.

As I say the choice of mattress purely depends on the couple. IF you have decided then you shouldnt be bothered about other people's opinon and stick by yours.

As for the cost, then I think you and your hubby needs to seat down and decide which you prioritise most. As for me it is the comfort level but it also needs to be affortable

Cheers

Hi Secret, i agree with what you said regarding sitting down and deciding.
I was confused about the 3K for the KK visco elastic sorry Secret.
Maybe i can provide you with some other models that you can try other than Tempur, i would feel very guilty if you and FH argued over this matter.
You can try these
1)@St Louis(IMM Orthorest Platinum Ultima @$1999 free 2 stellar pillow and mattress pad or Furnmart(Beach Road) Reflection @$1650 same free gifts. These are the highest prices in the market.
2)Max Memory Foam with pocketed spring @Home2Be

These places can try out those mattresses but it doesn't mean they are the cheapest.
Pls check around the prices before deciding to buy.
Hope this helps you more than what i posted last night.

hi Charles,

It doesn't matter, it doesnt create any arguement with my hubby. We long bought the mattress already and happily sleeping on our king koil mattress.

I shouldn't have bothered about this thread if not for seeing someone asking a question :p

just sharing thoughts, so no worries on it.

Hi pringirl,
king koil richmond is available only in COURTS. actually u can find the same mattress in some other shops but under a different name. this is king koil strategy... to give COURTS the exclusivity.

Hi all, I'm new here. Need some advice as I'm quite blur about the different kind of mattresses. Me itchy finger went to bid for a KK bed for abt $2590 and got it. Now hesitant as it seems kind of expensive to me.

It's a Queen mattress (inner natural latex, visco memory foam comfort, pocketed spring) with micro-suede fabric designer bed frame, supposedly retailing $5098 at Defu Furniture.

I also read that memory foam can be warm so am worried about it especially in our weather.

Can anyone please advise whether this is an ok deal?

hi icecreamo, seems like the one that i m eyeing for.. the queen size now is about $2388. What kind of designer bed frame is it? If it is those Divan type then the price may seems slightly expensive..

Dear all,
If anyone consider of buying Four Star Detense matteress, PLS DO NOT BUY!!.
I have such a bad experience. We bought this matteress for 3mths and the matteress started to sink, we call up to the service centre and they have rectified the problem saying the top layer of the foam not able to sustain our body heat.(as if like we are hot like fire that burns up the bed)So in the end they have change the top layer for us.
Then 8mths later, the same problem happened. Our bed sinking down again, exactly on the side where we sleep on. This matteress has caused alot of discomfort and pain to our body. Infact we suspect that the spring coil itself is not able to support the body weight (btw...I m just only 48kg). Furthermore its not cheap leh....we bought about 3k+ and giving us so much of trouble. Although they give warranty but doesn't worth it.

DEAR ALL,

i just bot kingcoil's richmond queensize today at courts tampines mega stall.

they are having a promotion, usual is 2099 and currently selling at only 1599

happy.gif
very happy with our final decision as we are complating to buy kingcoil's serenity...full latex top..but found out that it was too bouncy (although soft firm and comfy) and created a very big movement impact when FH is lying down or flipping..

Hi all. Just wan to comment on my recent purchase of king coil serenity @ amk courts. When i first shop for the mattress, there is a saleswomen name Rosie serving us. She is very polite and also all in smiles when serving us. We like the mattress a lot and so we put a deposit of $100. The mattress cost $1700 and she say will update us if there is any changes in the pricing of the mattress. 1 week later there is a massive discount sale of all mattress in courts and we enjoy a $150 discount and i went to find her to change the pricing of my receipt and she was still polite. 2 weeks later there is another massive sales at all courts and we enjoy a further $120 discount and now the mattress just cost $1400..but when i went to find the salewomen to change the price to $1400 this time she gave me a very black face..and her attitude changed completely...she then say "i need to check if there is really a further $120 discount" then i told her its a fact because i even brought the newspaper cutting. Then she get angry further and say loudly "can you pay for the mattress now because if the mattress has got further discount for the 3rd time then i don't know how to answer." i think she is trying to say if the mattress price drop further then she may get lesser commission..so tats why she so angry...i nearly confront her and ask to see her boss..but i always knew courts sales personnel has bad after service...so its ok....she didnt even look at us and just shout "come" to follow her to proceed the payment...its really bad after service given the fact her irritated tone when talking to me as a customer is really bad...

thats very rudE~!!!!
i will definitely argue with her if she dares to speak this way to me.

anyway it's true we cust are entitled to further discount based on upcoming sales so long as we have not had the matteress delivered.

so i think u did the right thing!

anyone here can update if richmond has further discounts :D

i recently bought this range called Medcare Latex Pocket spring from the King Koil Boutique at Furniture Mall, am contented with my buy! $2799 for queen size after 50% less! its really comfortable and doesnt seem to trap body heat (its latex plus visco elastic). Salesgirl was really friendly and approachable. would recommend to anyone looking for mattresses at <3k$

Err Carol.... if you check back most mattress company always say got 50% discount whole year round.Think you have been tricked about the 50%.It's a sales gimick.

carolingggg

true.. but in comparison with other brands like sealy, serta and simmons (their prices are like unattainable!! )... i still feel like ive got a good deal.. haha.

carolingggg

New Member
yes.. i am sure... thats why i think its important to compare prices with the industry average than a percentage discount as such... guess 2000$ for a middle range mattress is still acceptable for me.. i wouldnt pay 7-8k for a mattress it just sounds too crazy for me.. perhaps its a singaporean thing too.. if it goes too low like a few hundred bucks... it makes me wonder if the spring will just pierce out one day haha.

Anyone here can share when is the best period to buy mattress to take advantage of the promotions? Am considering king koil, Serta n probably sealy. Is CNY promo better or wait for GSS? Buy Fr robinsons/taka/Harvey or go to individual distributors?
