JP ADVICE NEEDED URGENTLY-

Thanks Christy for the prompt reply.

No problem, i will write my concern here.

I will be doing my ROM outside the office, but i am unclear because the online requires the solemniser consent and license no. And i had yet to get all this details from the solemniser.

Are you aware of that? Have you got the consent from the JP yet?

CFay> Ok if your not doing your ROM in the office than its easy cause you dun need to worry on the appt time in the office. When you do efiling you would need the License No. from the solemniser. The consent form you have to fill it up and sent it to the JP to say ok they will attend on your ROM date. JP will return you the consent form and you will need to submit it to ROM during your collection of Marriage Cert.

I have got the License No. already. As the consent form will sent to JP after my efiling is done.

Christy> Thanks.
Then can i know why the consent form have to be sent after the efiling? What if the JP suddenly cannot attend on that day? Does it make more senses if i get the consent from the JP and then do the efiling?

So you are doing your solemnization at the office is it? Will it be too late to fill my ROM date if my preferred date is 26 Sept?

Is your License No given by you JP?
Do you have any pic of Prof. Yu?

Cfay> Consent Form is actually an acknowledgement between the couple and JP that you have ask approval from the JP for your solmisation. Consent Form is to be submit to the ROM 3-4 days before your ROM date. ROM will tell you when to collect your Marriage Cert and on that day you and your spouse-to-be have to bring your IC and spouse to be’s IC witness’s copy of IC (Front & Back) plus the consent form. It’s very unusual for the JP to back out if they do normally they will standby another JP for you. You actually can get the Consent Form from the JP first b4 u efile but some JP will only give you the Consent Form after you efile.

I will be doing my ROM outside.

It’s not late yet because you will be having your ROM out side. Can still efile next month also. But if you have all the information now why not efile ASAP.

Yap my License No is given by JP. I ask from JP, tell him that efiling need the Lic No.

Pic of Prof Yu could be found at http://www.rst.nus.edu.sg/staff/rstyusm.htm

Hi all,

Is he a Lic JP? Usually whats is the "rates" to give JP?
Yu Shi Ming
Associate Professor

Pls advise. Thanks.

KaiStarz> Prof Yu is a Licensed Solemniser. Usually a ang pao of at least S$28 onwards is recommand to be given to them for their a token of apprication.

Actually Prof Yu is not a JP he is a Grossroot Leader under WEST COAST GRC - AYER RAJAH-WEST COAST DIVISION - WEST COAST COMMUNITY CENTRE.

Christy> Thanks so very much.

Your guidance is very useful to me.

So care to share where will be your venue to hold your soleminsation?

Do you think i shall get my guests in earlier or JP? I am thinking of getting my guests in earlier, but afraid that they will get tired or bored after a while. I got 2 slot timing to choose, one is 12-4pm and other is 1-5pm?

Any suggestion?

Cfay> Your welcome. I will be having my ROM at Marriott. Yes you should get your guest in early cause if the Solemniser waited too long he can call off the ROM event. If I am not wrong cannot wait for more that 30mins.

Get your guest in early. If your ROM is at 12.30pm than tell them to be there at 12noon. Usually your solemniser will come in at least 15mins early. To check on your documents & IC. Take the early slot.

estralita> Oh its still very early to book for a JP now. I would think after chinese new year next yr would be better. But you can start finding some JP in hand first.

Hi, anyone has ever come across a professional JP or soleminser can recommend for my ROM which is around the corner. Thanks.

Christy, read that your JP is Prof Yu. does he give you the consent form or do you download it yourself? can download from ROM website? and you meet up with him for him to sign before submitting to ROM or is everything done via email?

U have to print out consent form and signed by urself and ur bf then meet him in person.
And yes, we need to meet Prof Yu in person b4 submitting to ROM.

U can check with him whether is he available for ur rom before getting him as ur JP.

I really wanted this JP to do my solemnisation v much but seem like she hasnt been of any help.

<font color="aa00aa">Hi ladies,
i have got a list of JPs but is there any thing i should know? Or how should I invite them to the venue of my wedding?

I still do not know how I can engage a JP.</font>

Hi Winnie,

Perhaps you can go through the threads of the JP mention here and see whom you're comfortable with base on your gut feel &amp; the reviews posted in this forum. For us, we wanted someone humorous and billingual hence we invited Prof Yu Shi Ming as our solemnizer.

You can email or call the JP 3 months prior to your ROM date to invite him/her as your solemnizer. But understand that there're some popular JPs and you might have to contact them earlier.

Hope this helps

is it necessary to have a standby JP in the event that the current one flies our plane? if so, how shld we tell them? "oh u are my standby, if my curernt one doesnt turn up, please ensure that u do?"

quite funny rite?

Hi Peeps,

*URGENT*
Request made on 8 July 2009

Anyone can recommend a JP who is humourous, relaxed and a nice person who doesnt rush through the solemnisation?

Anyone has any feedback on these JPs?

1)Mr Chia Ah Sah
2)Mr Yong Tai Tong
3)Mr Kan Teck San
4)Mr Wong Suen Kwong

Looking for a Nice, Humourous JP who doesnt rush the Solemnisation.

SSHG: Mr Raymond Wee is quite friendly. He's better in Mandarin than in English. I used to work with him during ROM ceremonies quite many a times.
