We had the pleasure of having Dr Chung for our Solemnisation and he really made it so memorable for all of us. Many of our guests, including my MIL, commented that he was hilarious and great at what he does. He conducted the ceremony bilingual, as I have alerted him that two of my guests were purely mandarin speaking.

Dr Chung was quick in replying my WhatsApp messages. His was courteous and kind, and when I had questions, he was very detailed in giving me the breakdown of the solemnisation process. He also encouraged us to write our own vows, and reminded us it was okay to ask us any questions we might have.

The day before, he gave us a call to check and made sure we collected our documents. On the day itself, he came, addressed the crowd and started the ceremony. He was hilarious to a point my guests thought he was a comedian (lol), but yet when it required him to be solemn, he was. The ceremony was simple, straightforward, meaningful and respectful. Honestly, the 20min, most of it was due to our personal vows plus some crying.

Dr Chung made my guests comfortable and also took loads of photos for us during the ceremony too. Guests were constantly amused and encouraged to clap throughout, so the ROM was really intimate, lively and also chill.

He almost rushed off after the wedding without the angbao but we manage to catch him. He got our angbao and said he was going to donate all of it to a charity organisation on behalf of us It made everything feel so meaningful.

So if you are looking for a solemniser that is bilingual; fast, funny, but also grounded and respectful (with a couple of free photos lol), don’t hesitate to approach Dr Chung! I HIGHLY recommend him!!

Our only regret about the wedding is engaging Dr. Chung as our solemniser. He brought so much negativity to the event, affecting both the couple and the friends who were helping out. Understand that we were a little late for the solemnisation, but delays are common at weddings when things don’t go according to plan. He even mentioned that he would leave the hotel if he didn’t see the couple soon and this was only five minutes past the scheduled time.

For someone in that role, it seems like a bit more patience and understanding would have been appropriate. His actions created unnecessary stress, especially when we were only a few minutes late. The couple should have been able to rely on him to stay calm and supportive, not add to the tension. If you thinking to choose him as your solemniser, think twice.

I can’t agree more. The only negative part of our wedding was engaging Dr. Chung Tang Fung as our solemniser — something most of our friends and family also felt.

The solemnisation started about 20 minutes after the scheduled time. Dr. Chung had requested that witnesses arrive 15 minutes early, but ours were helping out at the reception and arrived 2 minutes before the scheduled time. Technically, they weren’t late — just not early as he preferred. Still, he kept expressing his complain to the couple before witnesses arrived, which added unnecessary pressure on what was supposed to be a big and joyful day

When he arrived at the rooftop garden, he already looked unhappy because it was drizzling. According to our plan, the solemnisation was to be held outdoors — rain or shine. However, he insisted that the hotel wanted us to move it indoors and we still have time to move inside. We later confirmed with the hotel events team that they had never suggested this sudden change as we had angree to adhere to outdoor garden plan clear well in advance. To accommodate him, we arranged for someone to hold an umbrella over him and he looked more calm after that.

However, he also insisted that we shorten the ceremony and not say our vows in another language, just to “speed things up.”

And here’s the strange part — he told us he couldn’t stay long because he had two more solemnisation ceremonies at Sentosa. I’m doubtful about this, because when I submitted a change request via ROM two weeks before our wedding, it showed that Dr. Chung had no other solemnisation appointments booked that day. Of course, it’s his personal schedule, but if he lies, it really shows how much his attitude and behavior are influenced by his own mood that day.

To anyone considering engaging Dr. Chung as your solemniser — unless you’re confident everything during your wedding will go perfectly according to plan, be prepared for a lot of uncertainty and his unnecessary negativity. Think twice :)
