We also used our personal camera to take pics but it wasn't a digital camera so I can't send you those. Plus they aren't very well taken, abit small.

Up and down like a roller coaster ride. However they are settling well...and grandad's doing loads better, thanks everyone for your well wishes
Congrats Rany on your wedding. Even we managed to get our ROM done on the 3rd of Jan smoothly. It was really simple, but thats how i liked it.

Venue and Menu's are confirmed. Still trying to confirm my photographers and video graphers and makeup artist. Went for a trial with Saheli, was not my style. so am looking for another makeup artist. Considering Shanti.

Glad to also see you have your date and venues sorted out. My wedding programme is also something like yours. Sangeet, Mehendi, then Wedding. I'll be back in Delhi towards end of Feb to collect my stuff and get more shopping done. If you need any help or suggestions, please feel free to ask. Where the VG and PG are concerned, i dont think there is a standard rate. Different PGs have different styles and experience. So all these are factors that affect the pricing. I'm going for a chinese VG and chinese PGs as i prefer their work compared to Indian VGs and PGs...

My cousin's engagement went very well despite not having a MUA...one of the guy's auntie is a MUA...she was sucha godsend. My cousin looked so pretty! and we were all happy for her...Her sis-in-law was the one who was supposed to get the MUA for her but she's quite evil u see...din even tell my cousin until the very last min...But she did get her retribution. Her car was stuck in the floods on the way to the engagement and she couldnt make it...
As for me, i got my wedding cards on sunday...they all came in 5 boxes weighing 55kg! So i am going to be quite busy sorting the cards...

Hi everyone... sorry for being MIA for the last 2 weeks... life has been a roller coaster.. trying to manage work and doing prep for my March wedding.. Here's my updates
finally my wedding prep is kicking in..managed to get the wedding cards done in JB ... the printer was quite nice, gave me a good price for 1K cards (with tamil and chinese invitation writings...).. Collection is abt 2 wks time
He has plenty of designs.. i wanted something modern but MIL wanted something traditional and simple... we need to mail some of them out, so can't get those big ones... and can't get those with purly a sami pic cos MIL was worried that after the wedding, everyone will surely throw the cards away which they should not 'cos it comes with a Sami/God visual... She said she actually keeps some of the wedding cards due to this... my FIL even had to resort to cut out the sami picture from the wedding cards before throwing them away... he's so cute.. he even showed me his collection when we came home ;-p
Anyway, i enjoyed myself..although FH can't come with me 'cos his "best" friend drove his car and accidentally ran over his right foot... Luckily FH was wearing his leather shoes, so no bone breaking but big toe was a little sore.. can't sleep well at night and can't walk well.. very stubborn man, refused to go A&E..i was his driver for the next 3 days.
Managed to arrange a meet up with both parents to discuss more of the stuff to buy...things went well. so far so good.
still have not decide on who to get for MUA as most of them are booked for my date.. will be on leave tomorr 'cos MIL be bringing me to a trial makeup.. no idea where but she said she knew the shop owner... See how it goes..
Priya/Apryl-- My MIL has confirmed a henna contact for me yesterday. Her name is Usha.. she praised alot of her designs.. she charging $120 (standard rates) for both hands and legs..will be meeting her tommor. i'll get more details of her for you.
Sphire -- thanks for some of the contacts. Great help! saw u engaged Edmund Leong for the banquet PG.. how much he's charging u? i thot of getting him for my AD and bangle ceremony.. does he has experience doing indian wedding/ceremony.. did not see much of that from his website..
Have anyone confirmed a indian studio package? i'm still contemplating to get it from LOOKS or Creative... please share ur package if you have confirmed one..
Still hunting for the wedding token.. What are you gals gonna give.. any suggestions?

Joelle - Happy to be of any help. Yup.. me engaged Edmund. Mine is only considered as an half day package. So he charges mi abt $100/hr. Good price for his work. He has done indian weddings but hv not seen his works on that thou. Probably u cld check him out.

Although the pic were mordern, my friend looked extremely big sized in the pics. If ppl do not knw her personally, they wld think she is a plus-size person. In real fact, she is very small.

Actually my bf travels alot and if i'm lucky i can have a full weekend with but most of the time he's back late Fri and flies again sun afternoon. Sat he's usually busy planning for his business trip. I dun mind cos i think it's gd so i make all the decisions...he just needs to manage the funds.

I am not impressed with Creative photoshoot. My friend took a portrait pic for her ROM. Her dressing was not up to expectation esp the ornaments.

Seems like my earlier post made no sense...was rushing to a last min meeting.... like i mentioned although i get to make the decisions, i've really been sitting on my bum.

Joelle - i have engaged Edmund Leong as well. He has done Indian weddings before.. but he does not have the archives. He doesnt keep them more than 6 mths it seems .But He did let us view Indian rom pics and video ..
Anyway, He was able to tell us what actually happens during the customary ceremony . I have only engaged him for the AD . I took the Lavender Package from him .

Joelle - i have engaged Edmund Leong as well. He has done Indian weddings before.. but he does not have the archives. He doesnt keep them more than 6 mths it seems .But He did let us view Indian rom pics and video ..
Anyway, He was able to tell us what actually happens during the customary ceremony . I have only engaged him for the AD . I took the Lavender Package from him .

Piggy - Where did you get your outfits from?? I'm still torn if I should get a 3rd sari (so I can juggle 2 for wedding and 1 for banquet) or should I rent a western outfit from the BS. Been looking for my 3rd saree but none has leaped out at me. Btw, if you have your eyes set on a specific PG and VG, you might want to make a booking soon because they get booked out really fast.

Erm...but didn't get your email. I'm at [email protected] Btw, how was Saheli's makeup style like? What didn't you like abt it? PGs usually charge by the hour. But most often they have pkges. Some of them package it together with prints. If you want more prints, I'm not sure how they charge. Differs from PG to PG. But if you go to a good shop like Konota at Peninsula Plaza, they do it for abt 35-40cents a piece.

SK - I've heard some good things abt Wayang Retreat. Am tempted to go for the Javanese Lulur before my photoshoot. I've got some dark acne spots on my shoulders and back. So hopefully, my back will look as radiant as can be after the treatment. Which treatments have u tried?

Hi Rany, I got my outfits from India...went there a few times to shop as well as bf travels there very often so gave him pictures and long shopping lists.
My suggestion is have a different outfit for you banquet. With 2 sarees in your trouseau, go for eithe a gown or lengha. Try to rent gown wic has an indian feel (motif/embroidery etc). Many BS try to incorporate Indian material into their gowns.
I need to sit my bf down and ask him progress on PG & VG...meantime will keep takin all suggestions from u guys. As for MUA thinking of approaching Looks...saw an ad abt them in some Spore Indian magazine (apparently it's a new release). Not too keen on Saheli cos all their pixs on their site aint original. Wat do u guys feel abt non-indian MUA.

Yes it is exciting to see my name on the wedding invites...it was such a tearful moment when i saw the first card!hehehe... But the card is quite big and i need to put $1 stamp for each card. Imagine how much of postage i need to buy for all the cards...But its worth the money cos the card's very unique and it comprises of my favourite colours i.e. orange and maroon.

Its hard to find something indo-western in BS. maybe u can get a 2-piece gown...u know something that allows u to show a bit of your belly...hehehe...i was cracking my head over what type of gown to sew....eventually, i gave a design to my tailor at the JB studio...its a peach-golden colour toga-type of gown...after that, i will change into a maroon saree...I have to get someone to tie the saree for me as my MUA is chinese and she will leave once she's done with the MU and hairdo.

I came to know of Wayan Retreat when i received a complimentary spa treatment voucher from my former colleagues as a farewell gift. It was a combination treatment of a Javanese Urut(massage) and body polish....My skin felt great after that and it was such a relaxing experience...U ladies should try it...
kismet - Like what Rany said, most PGs work on a package basis and different packages comprise different things. Some just charge for the time they hired ( eg: $50/hr or $100/hr ) and return all images in a cd-dvd format. Others actually include prints and albums etc. Important thing to do is to view the work of different PGs and settle on the one you like. You need to book them fast cos they get booked months in advance. Did you get a professional to cover your ROM?
SK - The SPA is really tempting. Is it only for ladies or for couples? Probably cl treat my FH to a SPA for his b'day.

SK, we didn't use a proffessional for the ROM, just got our friends to snap photos.. the photos came out acceptable. nothing amazing though. Didn't really put in too much effort for the ROM to be honest, the traditional wedding day is more meaningful to me personally... fingers crossed all goes well

kismet - i strongly suggest you get a professional photographer for the wedding. I just feel that we put in so much effort and fuss about every single thing concerning the wedding. We go into so much detail. The wedding will actually go by very fast. All that will be left of the day are memories and photos. I am getting 2 photographers for the wedding ceremony. One to cover whatever goes on on my hubby's side and one for my side. I want every nitty gritty detail to be photographed. Call me kiasu but i think its worth it
hey SK, deffinately gonna get proffesionals for the wedding! din't get them at the ROM as it really was a very small affair.. only 15 of us and it wasn't as important to me as the traditional affair. Am considering 2 diff photographers too for the wedding morn? are u doing different styles? journalistic? i'm considering getting a normal photographer to do the norm style and another to get more arty shots.. haven;t worked it out yet...TGIF!
