Indian wedding Services in Singapore

Rany - BB=Bridal Boutique. Yup $4M. The groom is some industrialist son in dubai and bride is a worldwide steel dealer's daughter in Sg. All ceremonies were held in Ritz. The groom rode a white horse to Ritz Carlton. Still wondering how. Kewl ah?

Chick - Thanks again for the DVDs. It's individual preference to the bridal car. Actually I feel its a waste to rent when u r only goin to rent for a day and get nothing out of it. My fiance thinks otherwise. Its him who wants a Bentley.

Infinite - Gal, cld I hv a look at ur pics too? Thanks.

Hi sphire,

I tried many places as well to rent a bentley but I came across none. But I do have contact for Rolls Royce. The rental is abt $1700 without the deco.

Info on the elaborate wedding in Ritz:

It was a $10 million fairy-tale wedding between a Singaporean bride and the son of an Indian tycoon.
Decked like a prince, 27-year-old Adarsh Garodia arrived - on a horse - at the Ritz Carlton Hotel on Tuesday evening to claim his 25-year-old bride Neha Didwania.

Some 2,000 guests were present to toast what has been dubbed the Wedding of the Year.

For the more than 300 guests from India, they had an all-expenses-paid trip to Singapore, including airfare, accommodation and food at the hotel for the past three days.

The couple met last December through a mutual friend.

"I love her. I mean she is the perfect woman that I've ever wanted. She is absolutely amazing," said the groom, who comes from Calcutta and is the only son of the Indian tycoon.

It was also love at first sight for the bride.

"His sincerity, his honesty and he's really hot. I mean he has a fantastic personality and we love each other to death. I met him twice and the second time I met him I knew he was the one," said the bride, who has a Masters from the London School of Economics.

Three months after they met, they were engaged.

A 6.5-carat engagement ring was what he gave her as a token of his love.

This was followed by a 10-carat diamond wedding band estimated to be worth at least a million dollars.

The generous gesture was kindly reciprocated by the bride's family who runs a worldwide steel supply chain with businesses all over the world.

Preparation for the wedding went like clockwork since April.

For the wedding planner, nothing was low-key. Only the best was the pre-requisite.

The family had insisted on the finest details, including having an all-white horse.

Shamini Suppiah, Ritz-Carlton's associate director for social events, said: "This is the largest-scale Indian wedding that we have had here, not only in terms of guest rooms but also in terms of the traditions and ceremonies that are taking place in the hotel. Some of the ceremonies are usually held at home but in this case, they are all held here."

One special ceremony was the Varmala where the bride and groom exchanged garlands for the first time.

It is as symbolic as when most couples traditionally exchange wedding rings.

Guests said it was an experience of a lifetime, a wedding almost fit for a king.

And the most visibly overwhelmed was the bride's mother whose eldest daughter will soon leave her to lead a new life in Calcutta, but not before the newly-weds' month-long honeymoon in Greece and Italy!

hi gals..i went to the yishun outlet..din like my coordinator too much but this lady called irene is good...she was my friend's...but the MUA i got was good...her name is May and i also got her to come down for my ROM to do the makeup cos it was very natural...and this outlet has done quite a bit of photo shoots for indian customers since it is yishun
happy.gif
so u can go ask for one of an indian couple and they will show you...

Shantair - Welcome back! Good to hear from you. Are you here in SG? How goes your wedding plans?

Yeah, the $10M wedding was quite something. I found the video clip of the coverage at the CNA website and have to say, it looks fairly normal decor and outfits-wise. But the horse and that blindingly huge emerald cut engagement ring, that's something else altogether!

Infinite - thanks for the contacts. Will look them up when I go looking into GH.

Hey girls, I just found another avenue for bridal car rentals:

http://www.autobahn.com.sg/carsforrent.htm

They mostly have the classic Merc models, Rolls Royces, VW Beetles, Alfa Romeos, etc. Not sure if they have Bentleys. I don't know how they charge but it's worth a shot if you're keen on the vintage look.

Mabel - how goes your final few weeks? have you got all if not most things settled? hey, are you getting your fiance to carry a modern posy and not the traditional kaichendu? And according to your list, the groom is supp to get the bestman a ring? What sort of ring is this? And erm...what's a metti?

Shantair - kekekke.. nice to c u here. Hows things so far? Cld I hv the contact for the RR? thanks. Will check wif my fiance and c if he has any contact for bentley.

Rany - Kewl. another car contact. Will add to be list. I think best man ring.. cn be a simple gold ring. Metti is toe ring with bells.

Sphire,

You can contact Gary Hong from Autobahn at tel: 81001010 for the Rolls Royce ( white ). He can only confirm the booking for the car 3 months in advance. He will not take any bookings earlier than that.

You can also try SiangHock at tel: 62568888. They told me the rental for their Rolls Royce is $1688 ( Black and Yellow)

Rany + Shantair - Thanks for all the info on the Ritz wedding..me KPO went to check out the CNA clip after yr message..thot it looks rather elaborate or is that how things usually are? Stress...

Anyways ladies..me 3 steps closer in preps..Finally signed with Raffles The Plaza, my MIL booked the Tank Road temple and i've booked the church..Yipee..Btw Rany, heard June is a HOT month for weddings..so should look for VG and PG already....

Shantair - Thanks for the contacts.

Chick - The greatest hassle for venues is over for u. That is really a big weight rite? kekeke. BTW whts the price per table for RTP?

Rany: Metti is the toe ring
Im not sure what ring the groom has to get the best man. Probably a simplem gold one or something
No....fiance is not carrying a kaichendu or a modern posy. The modern posy is for me. Fiance is not carrying anything! I think he might have secon thots of turing up if he was made to carry such a thing!

Sphire - RTP is 928nett but with alcohol n beer i think it'll be 1000+ per table...So stress now, must save $$$$..How bt yourself? U confirmed with RTC already?

Btw gals i have a stupid question to ask. How do you sit at the stage? x-legged or is there a raised platform or wat? Cos i'm quite inflexible..hee..so m not sure how i'm going to last so long sitting x-legged..

Chick - Standard price I guess. Mi most prob not goin along with RTC. Their service is bad. When I asked for a sit down menu, and the consultant was displeased and said "Since u do not want the buffet menu i've given u, then u hv to wait till the chef is free to create another menu for u". All along I've been telling tht goon that I want my guests to be table served. Will be meet a consultant at Oriental this Sat to discuss the menu and package with her.

I think I'm hv the same problem as u. Cant sit on floor for too long. Wait cannot get up. Getting old.

Chick - congratulations on being 3 steps closer!!!! My fiance and I have agreed that Sept will be a better date for us both. And it's what my mom prefers too. So no contention there, thank god! So have you got your VG and PG yet? Who are you going with?

Although, my fiance and I have decided on Sept 07 for the wedding, we can't seem to book the Yishun temple yet because they say they only open up their bookings for 2nd half of next year in December. Meaning we gotta wait til Dec to confirm our wedding date. Grrrrr.....

Anyhow, here's my verdict on Thomson Wedding D'sign, my first venture into BS land. Gowns were normal looking, nothing outstanding. But I did get really good service from their staff Cindy who, although did suggest I put a deposit on a gown that I liked, didn't push me to do it.

Tomorrow, I'll head to GH Yishun and see what sort of designs they have.

Sphire & Chick - Same here! Tingling jelly legs if I sit cross-legged for too long. I have seen some couples who sit on the dias while the iyer conducts the ceremony. And elsewhere I've seen couples sit cross-legged on the floor. So I can't be certain which of the two is the right way to do things, if there is a right way to do it.

Mabel - Thanks for clarifying the posy. Yeah, I think my fiance is much like yours. So that's a relief for him.

Rany - If there is no right way? Then I would choose to sit on the dias...kekeke. But do we have a choice?
sad.gif
?
Try walking down Tanjong Pagar where most BS are. U cn just window shop as the BS will display there WG or even EG. I always think that any shops will display their best product at the window to attract customers. Hence by looking, u may get an idea wht their designs are like.

Rany - cool, at least u've got month settled :-) Agree with Sphire, a lot of BS down at Tg Pagar. U planning to MTM or OTR your gown? Have not started looking for VG and PG..dun even noe what 'express highlights' mean..haha..any ideas?

Gosh..i hope we can sit on the dias :-) I definitely cant do x-legged for so long...

Sphire..thats pretty bad service from RTC. Hope u hv more luck with Oriental...How about Regent, do they have Indian food? There is a bridal fair coming up..Well actually a lot of ppl have told me RTP is expensive..so i think many people have the perception that its $60-80 per head for hotel banquet, so must save to prepare for losses...

Chick - 'Express Highlights' are Highlights of morning event shown in the evening as video clips. Like for the chinese,.. their morning tea ceremony will be shown during the banquet.

Regent is over our budget. True la. We indians will always lose more $$ than the Chinese. Cos our relatives will consider banquet as part of the wedding and only give 1 hong boa. Imagine banquet cost $50K, temple cost $20K ... already spend $70Kmin. For the chinese only the banquet and tea ceremony at home(a simple affair). But its once in a lifetime affair. If money needs to be spent, jus spend. Do it with no regrets, jus beautiful memories.

Sphire..wow..u really knowledgeable huh. hv u decided on PG n VG yet?

Btw, how much is Oriental and what kind of perks do you get? Cos i saw the package from regent, its 820 nett i think..Thought oriental would be more ex..

Hey you shld work in wedding line..U have a way of convincing people its ok to spend $$$ for wedding.. :-))) But you are right, our overheads are definitely more with more ceremonies..U've settled your housing already?

Chick - No la. Not knowledgeable. Accumlating details around. My chinese colleague is also getting married next yr. We kinda plan together on whom to call for banquet. So she tells mi whts chinese wedding is like and seems like family bonding is not an issue for them. Hence holding a banquet of 25 table is already big. When I told my boss and colleague tht I'm trying to keep my tables minimum at 40, they ask y so much. The $80 hong boa per pax for banquet is wht chinese gives. For indians must be happy that a family gives $100.

Hv not decided on anything. Taking 1 step at a time. Once i've book the venue, then I'll book MUA, PG and VG.

Regent quoted mi $100. If I modify menu, sure need to top up. Oriental quoted $75. Hence I still hv more room to modify menu. Oriental has pillarless ballroom and cocktail area jus at doorstep. Guest cn valet park.

Housing is an headache. Mi live in Marine Parade. Fiance lives in Bukit Batok. Either plc either of us r aliens. Mi still prefer MP due to convinence. Fiance works in UBI .. mi in AMK. BB is way out for both of us. But he's been living in BB ever since born. Waiting for the right opportunity to convince him.

Sphire,
Count yourself lucky that both MP and BB are within Singapore. I tried very hard to convince my fiance to move to Singapore but he is against the idea totally. When he was last in Singapore , he wasn't really impressed and says that I will love Canada cos its similar to Singapore but better and the people are friendlier. I think he was put off by the looks that were thrown our way everywhere we go. I figure the only way I can perhaps make him stay in Singapore if I can convince him to buy a house. Make it like an investment and maybe get to stay here a couple of years. At the moment we have not yet agreed on where we want to live.Currently he is living in London but he is not really happy there. He has lived in Paris a couple of years and he much prefers there. Eventually we will move to Toronto cos his business is there and its his home afterall. But I really have no idea where we will be living after the wedding. I have got to go with the flow I guess.

I wonder how Holly is coping with her new apartment?

hi gals...if u r looking for indian food for ur hotel...then try grand copthorne waterfront...they were able to customize an indian menu which had great variety at a ok price..

Hey Shantair
Yes.. I guess I'm so much better. Heard Paris is not really a very friendly plc. Been there when I was 4.. so dont rem much of it. Hope things fall really well for both of u. I dont mind leaving Sg if there's an opportunity.
Guess Holly must be pretty busy with furnishing.

Infinite - GCW quoted $1200.. way out of budget dear. But heard Hyatt is well known for it Indian cusine... ballroom not appealing.

Hi Sphire,

I was in Paris 2 years ago. Its a beautiful place. The people I met were friendly enough and if u take the effort to speak a little french , they warm up to you faster. Language wise I would still prefer London. Kensington , the place where my fiance lives is a very nice area. Every facility is within walking distance and at the same time its also very exclusive. Where you live in London does matter. My chances of staying in London is much higher. My fiance owns the place he is living in right now as well as another place in the country just outside london. He has sold his apartment in Paris and I dont think he wants to move back to Canada just yet. I might still end up in London unless he has a surprise planned for me. I have been dropping subtle hints but he is not telling me anything. Its fustrating not knowing where I will be living. Guess I will find out in a couple of months.
kao_clap.gif

Shantair - kewl, lady. U seems to be in for a treat. Ur fiance's current plc seems interesting. As wht i've heard, in most countries u hv to be prepared to travel to get things...like 45min to get to a mall. In this case, ur fiance is really living in a very good position. Hope he gives u a very sweet pleasant surprise.

Hows ur wedding plans coming along?

Sphire ,

My entire wedding plans has been screwed up. I am in Canada now. My fiance has to go for surgery which would leave him out of action for abt 3 months. So my wedding plans in Singapore have been cancelled. We decided to get married in Canada once he is better and that shld be maybe around late november or december if everything goes well. I am just keeping my fingers crossed.

Shantair - Oh dear. How is he? U cld hv a grand wedding Canada. Sg weddings is always the same. Everyone follows the same tradition. U cld hv a different one. Cheer up lady. Everything will fall well.. Ur wedding wld be much better than u wld hv expected.

sphire-oh my! they have really upped their prices...but anyway i was checking for high tea and they quoted abt 40 plus per person early last year..

Dear Sphire,

U sure do know how to cheer someone up
kao_smile.gif
. Anyway , u are right. I have been looking at some venues and I came across a castle in Toronto. I might consider having an outdoor wedding in the gardens of the castle ( if the weather is not too cold by then ) followed by a reception.

Hi Shantair, hang in there k. Hope ur fiance is ok. Hmm...castles sound very nice..Will u be doing it in Toronto? I've been to both Toronto n Montreal...thought Montreal was more romantic :-))

Gals..i heard not so good feedback about GCW..in terms of food, staff not helpful etc..but then again it cld be different on a case-to-case basis..

Hello everyone!

Shantair - Sorry to hear about your fiance's health and your wedding plans in Singapore being cancelled. But girl, look at it this way, he's on the mend now and you won't find all that many chicks round here who can say they got married in a castle!!!
happy.gif
I'd say things are definitely looking up for you. But hey, with just a few months away from the wedding, you still don't know where you're going to live? Don't you need time to get the paperwork i.e PR status etc done?

Infinite - Noooooo!!! Din go to GH cos it closes on Tues and I didn't know that until it was too late. Will try them next week. Anyhow, we landed up in Fame (Yishun). The gowns were ok only but they're real dirt cheap if you want to rent them just for a photoshoot. That's our intention. Since I'm having a traditional indian wedding at the temple, the gown is just meant for photoshoot not AD. And for something like that, it only costs like $180 to rent it at Fame!! But do note, they have a seperate selection for outdoor shoot gowns. You can't just pick any gown you want.

Chick - Because we are only using the gown for outdoor photoshoot and nothing else, I'm just going to go OTR.

Sphire and chick: it was a high t4ea session and lunch we had the quotation for...and we were more interested in the lunch cos they had a huge variety...for abt 50 and that included invites, deco, separate venue for solemnization in the chapel looking place etc...fiance and i were also impressed with the service cos the man who was serving us was so nice and catered a special menu for us...for final decision we were torn btw GCW and a smaller function at raffles and that won us over because of the ambience...so i guess it does vary from person to person...

rany: i was also not using the gowns for the actual day and it was just for the photoshoot...and i took two gowns out for the outdoor photoshoot and it was also nice..and i can understand that cos the gowns can get real dirty if u go to the beach
happy.gif
and since u r only using it for outdoor shoot its def good to jus get otr cos i was impressed with the way they can alter the gown to ur frame and height and can even make it tube or sphagetti strapped or halter neck based on ur specifications..if u want any info on this feel free to pm me
happy.gif
my friend went to fame to and she said that gha has a better range btw
happy.gif

Hi Chick and Rany,

Thank u for your concern...its very sweetboth of u. I love the old Montreal , the architecture there is really beautiful. I have an option of choosing to have my wedding at either Niagra Falls or Toronto cos they are only an hours drive from each other.

The paperwork for the PR status is no problem. My fiance is a citizen of both UK and Canada. Since my fiance would be sponsoring my stay , I can live anywhere in the European Union or Canada.

Shantair - CASTLE? Kewl!! Ur FH cld dress like king and u as queen... a royalty wedding...kekek. Wow! U cn even beat the $10M ritz wedding. They spend so much yet the wedding is similar to everyone. Whereas urs is really unique and special... specially for both of u. C! Isnt it better than a Sg wedding where everyone is bored with the ceremonies that they only come just nice for feast? U got to send us photos to make us jealous...kekeke.

Infinite - U booked GCW? Actually I do like the location and ambiance of the hotel.

Rany - $180 is really cheap for gown rental. I always thot its very ex like close to $1K... thats y I went for package. If only I knew earlier...
sad.gif

Chick - When I request quote from GCW, the lady was really nice. After receiving din contact them. *Faint* their package more ex than Hyatt. The worst is Intercontinential. When I asked for Indian dinner package, the lady told mi "U sure u wan to book wif us? It will cost u $800 per table". Then I told her I'm aware for the hotel rates. I'm prepared to pay higher than that depending on the package. She immediately said "$800 is just the lowest. It cn be more than $1K. U sure u still wan?". I was so fed up. I told her off "Indians are not poor that they cannot afford a banquet and all chinese are not rich either. I knw I cn afford.. tht's y i'm asking u a quote. But if service from the front desk is this bad, I cn understand the service the hotel will provide." But then I thot this lady was an exceptional. A few days later I called again and spoke to someone else... same treatment. Crossed them out of my list.

hi sphire...no i was torn btw GCW and raffles but booked raffles eventually because of the ambience there...esp the fountain in front of the function room...was so pretty..

and thats pretty bad treatment u received from intercontinental...and putting their name up in the forum will def save more ppl from being treated like that...

Infinite - if you get it made to a tube/sphaghetti strap/halter, is it considered MTM or OTR? hmmm....does sound like GHA gave really good service. Can I ask how much you paid for your package and what it covered?

Sphire - other than posting Intercon's name in this forum, you know what you should really do??? Write to the management, telling them how disgusted you are at the way you were treated. And this treatment you received was not just once but TWICE from 2 different staff!!! So I reckon you shld really write the GM of the hotel a letter. And if you got the names of the staff you talked to, put that in as well!! They need someone to put them in their place!!

But don't worry too much about the gown rental pkg you got. Some places like Thomson Wedding D'sign quote about $300 for rental of specific outdoor shoot gowns. They call them 2nd Hand Gowns. They weren't very attractive though. But if I wanted to use the other gowns in their OTR selection for an outdoor shoot (better designs in this selection but still nothing particularly grabbed me), it would apparently cost me about $1000. I don't know whether it'll cost much the same at other BS but I guess I'll soon find out. Keep you posted!

Shantair - Hey, that's good that you won't have a problem with paperwork. And can't wait to see your castle wedding photos!
happy.gif

Hey ladies,

I have decided on the design of my wedding gown. Since I cant let my FH see the gown , I need u ladies to tell me what you think of this design.

Yes ladies.. mi actually thot of writing to their director. My FH told mi not to make the issue big. Anyway cant rem the names of the ladies.

Infinite - Raffles is rather small right?.. Like a max of 25 tables or so? Its a really beautiful plc.

Shantair - The gown looks very elegant.

Mabel - Hows ur preparations?

hi sphire sent you the pics already...
shantair - both the gowns are so lovely!! you're really going for the royal princess look huh? love 'em!

mabel- hey girl, how's everything coming along? last minute preps all going fine? Just tell me if u need any help? how's ur mum and dad?
gosh, can't believe all of us are like getting married and stuff..seems like yest we were still in mrs. chong's class trying work out the math probs...lol
did u noe shidah is also married? and get this, JOHAN is getting married next yr! the poor girl.
anyways, u take care n drop me a line when u r free!
