Indian wedding Services in Singapore

raj: yup it will take sometime to decide what customs to fw and all. btw just curious to pick an auspicious date for the wedding, both the girl and guy horoscope is needed right? heard from some friends is just the girls horoscope.
totally agreed many many parties to please.

sumi : are things cheaper in india then in sg? i know accessories like the chura and all are, but what abt the sarees?

Hearts: Hmm auspicious date..they needed both mine and my fiance's..

And from what my in laws are telling me(They are huge buying-stuff-from-India fans!), the variety is unbeatable! And definately more affordable..im going broke just thinking of my trip!

Hearts: We didn't check anything at all. We just chose an auspicious date. We didn't provide our horoscope at all. With all due respect

We just found that it complicates matters, so we just went with the date.

Raj: Yeah actually we just just the date and then the priest asked for our horoscopes just to make sure its all good. Needed to do it for the parentals!

Hahaha..Sure! Not sure if anyone wants my 2nd hand stuff though!

raj: agreed. it complicates lotsa stuff. but parents prefer to check dates.

i am going down to temples to recee their wedding hall before settling down to get the dates..

sumi: when u heading to india? soon right?

sumi: u must be excited

Hearts: If you do want my priest contact let me know. The priest that was recommended to me was a NHG (National Healthcare Group) appointed religious leader. He speaks fluent English and is versatile both in Tamil and Hindi.

Hi all sisters, so happy to find this section!

I'm in the middle of finding a good PG/VG. Have looked through the some portfolios recommended by the sisters here from last year (a long read!), really like some journalistic styles by non-Indian PG; but my parents are a bit conservative to engage them.

Please share a though if you have any experience in choosing the right PG/VG, thanks!

JustHappy: Welcome on board :)
You will definitely find a list of information. I would suggest also meeting up with various PG and VG to get a good feel with them (*chemistry is important). I did a lot of research and also visited a handful of PG and VG before deciding on mine. You must view their actually portfolios - sometimes the edited version of the photos may look different from the actual print. So you have to really ensure that it is their work.

PS: The reason why I chose my PG and VG is because he didn't try to hard sell us and i personally felt that he was not out to make a quick buck. Everything was pretty much transparent. We also told him about how we like our pictures to be.

Jeez! had such a hard time logging in!

JustHappy: Welcome and congrats! I agree with Raj that you need to have chemistry with your VG and PG. I personally know my ROM photographer and made it a point to meet my AD photographer before signing off on the contract.

How is everyone doing? I have 44 days to my ROM! Woohoo! I still have to get my bridal shoes, bouquet, book my hotel room, print the programs and finalise the event flow. And oh yes..seating plan!!

Hi ladies, hope you are doing good.
@jus happy - i would highly recommend William Goh for PG and amore production fromVG.They are from malaysia. You can find them on FB. Many singaporean's have engaged them and they are hot stuff. Personally, i extremely love their service. They are so accomdating and their packages are very reasonable and afforable. You can cite their video and photos at their page as well. You can consider this team!

Anybody know where i can find single tier bangal stands for bangal ceremony. can't seem to find it at tekka ! :/

You know, I am astonished at how time flies!! I mean its gg be april soon and I am left with 7 more mths to my wedding...eeks...

Hi gals,
I finally managed to login! Hope everyone is doing great :)
Raj : thanks for the info. Will let you know if I need the contact.

Rajni: ooooo Rome! How exciting! You should for sure wear a traditional outfit for a contrast! At least for 1 of the shots.

I just got back from Chennai yesterday and yes I got my dream wedding saree!! Being Malayalee, i grew up dreaming of getting married in a cream and gold saree and i got a gorgeous one there! Also got my reception lengha and a whole bunch of sarees for my sis, mum and aunties.. I love Chennai! Hehehe

Its 25 days to my ROM!

Thanks sumi :) We will be getting a photographer in ROME instead, it will be cheaper in that sense.
Super exciting, 25 more days to your ROM. Will you be doing your temple wedding after that?

Hi couples... this is my first thread here...but i have to give an honest advise on photography / video service in Singapore.

for my wedding, i had engaged the video man from Menaka's Bridal (ya, the so-called famous bridal in Singapore). the price was very reasonable. but service is otherwise. Photographer was good... took the pictures and sent it to us on the confirmed date. however as for their video man, he onli takes the video. The video was taken very badly and the quality was so low. his filming and positioning of the video camera during the procession is off. some instances showing only the body without the head. nowadays can get HD video, but his is so lousy quality. not worth it. even more bad news/review is coming below...

the video man onli takes video but does not do video-editing or enhancements. he passes the video to another guy who goes by the name of Jakir. his shop is at 144 Dunlop Street, V&V Music Centre. He rents a small portion of this music store and does editing there. (we did not know Jakir was doing the editing) My wedding was last year and the video was delivered about 3 months later. We discovered that no proper formatting was done and the editor used very low editing tools to do the video. worse is that, the video man and Jakir did not even consult us what music to be put into the video. they just chose what they think was right. we were very shocked by it and asked both of them to re-do the video. Jakir promised to do the re-editing accordingly but he kept pushing our meeting dates. he will confirm the appointment, but he will not turn up. even if you call him, he will not pick up the phone or reply SMSes. he is very unreliable. and he keeps telling that he has this problem or that problem and buy some time for himself. after chasing him for so long, i only got my songs edited and got my wedding video after 7 months from my wedding! this was very bad service. we even reached a stage where we did not want to do the re-editing and requested the cd back, but the video man and Jakir was rude and also avoided my calls. Jakir is not a professional and does not keep his words. his constantly pushes deadlines and is not trustworthy. the video man does not even bother to help us. he is also truly unprofessional in his services.

Menaka bridal services was also notified and she tried to push it away too saying that we should deal with the video man and editor. However note that she still engages the same video man for her services. this is a very unprofessional behaviour of such a popular agency.

i sincerely regret taking Menaka Bridal for my video. please do take care when you deal with this company and also enquire more about their video man and how/who is doing the editing. make sure you know what to ask for and be firm. my advise, avoid Menaka when it comes for photo / video services. there are other better guys out there who will provide a professional service for you.

i hope you will not get the same treatment that i received.

Hi all,

I'm new here. My parents and parents-in-law to be have decided to hold my engagement on the 22.06.2013 (Saturday). And this was only confirmed yesterday. So i'm panicking now, because i don't know where to start with the whole planning thing.

The engagement itself is taking place in my residence and the food will be served at the void deck. Im lost as to which make-up artist (MUA) to choose and whom to cater food from.

Also need tables and chairs and additional lighting for the dinner reception under the block.

And is 8 weeks too short a notice for MUA's and Vendors?

Could you guys please advise.

Never too late babe.. I did my engagement and rom arrangements in 2 mths..
since you are doing at your residence, you need to contact your town council on rental for the void deck and usage of the electricity..
tables & chairs - have to rent it from deco company or you have any other contacts..
Priest - from Mariamman Temple.
MUA - I used Ananthy. She is good. managed to get her in time. her contact no is 90694450. for MUA you gotta ask around for their availability quickly.. :)
Deco - I used KM Wedding services. there are plenty of vendors, you can source around..
Photography & Videography - need to source around

You can do it gal :)

Primax69: Congrats! Take a deep breath and dont panic!

MUA wise, i second Ananthy! She's my MUA for all my events. Sung is also good!

Photography and Videography - Its quite subjective. Do have a look around - Im using Keshav for Photography and Beyond Pictures for videography,

Deco - Im using Pandora for all my events!

Do let me know if you need any contacts!

4 more days to my ROM! *Freaking out* Finally collected my dress and spent the weekend assembling my programmes for the day with my bridal party. Head to the ROM tml to collect the cert! Its all so REAL now! :)

Thanks for the advise Sumi and Encäntädorä Prämelä! And Sumi my best wishes for the ROM.

I will be going down to the town council office on Sat to settle the necessary.

We are not having any videography for engagement, as for photography we are getting a friend to do it.

I will be heading down to KM on the weekend to settle decor details.

MUA i will contact ananthy soon. Sumi could i get the contact for Sung as well.

My email add is [email protected].

Things seem to be falling in place once the panicking stops...haha. :)

Thank You so much!

our pleasure dear ;)
my best wishes to you... congrats :)

well done sumi.. congrats n my best wishes to you :)

as for me... my real headache is starting soon with all the planning for my traditional wedding for next year - 8th Mar

Hi Ladies, I am a Nov 2013 BTB and your threads are very helpful
I would really appreciate if you could recommend more AD photography/videography that wouldn't burn a hole in my pocket :)
And contacts for MUAs that would help with sari tying as well?

Thanks!

Hi all!! I finally had my engagement and ROM last weekend! I am now a legally married woman! :)

Omg the day just passed by so fast, I cant even remember the details. All i know is people were dressing me, taking things off me, dressing me up again etc.. Hehehe..And I was nervous as hell walking in with my dad just before the ROM. But it was truly a happy experience!

Pandora 2morrow did a FABULOUS job for my decor. I didnt have to worry a tiny bit about decor as Vanan took care of everything! Have already booked them for my December events :)

Ananthy worked her magic yet again with her makeup. I swear I had never felt prettier :)

I had 2 photographers - Keshav (Shift Photography), my main photographer and Manie (Kachakk Photography), my 2nd photographer and I cant wait for the pics.

Videographers - Beyond Pictures who went above and beyond to capture the event till the very end!

Food was by Banana Leaf Apollo - Everyone said the food was good but I wouldn know coz I didnt get to have any! (I survived on champagne instead!)

We handmade our own programs and confetti bags which was a nice bonding activity with my extended family :)

My JP was tha bombest!! I loved her so much - Joanna Portillia - She was funny and awesome!

My bridal party planned lil suprises including a suprise performance, bloopers video etc.

Its been a week but my mind is on my traditional wedding and reception now. Im taking this week off planning and will start next week hopefully!

Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

My Wedding is going to be held in Holiday Inn Orchard...Traditional first, followed by ROM, and reception, all on the same day...planning is really fun and stressful at the same time...do u have any good contacts for photoshoot?

Hey ya sen_pooh!
Congratulations and welcome come to the forum page :)
Unfortunately I did my photoshoot overseas. So I am sorry that I cant be of much help.
However, I am sure that the girls have a wealth of information here :))

Hi rajni_ram, thanks...my wedding is to be held in dec this year...when is urs? We are doing our photoshoot with bliss bridal...only 6 more mths and we are yet to finalize a lot of things...

Sen_Pooh: I have attended many weddings at Holiday Inn. The place is beautiful and when decorated it looks grand.
I can imagine your stress level (*I think the stress comes from the fact that I have to lose weight!). My wedding is on 19 Oct (145 days away to be exact). I will be having my traditional and reception all on the same day at one place. I will be having it at Serangoon Garden Country Club. The traditional ceremony (*which includes the fire) will only take an hour and we will have the reception after that. I am afraid that my itinerary sounds super ambitious...

Rajni_Ram: High- five dear...mine is also the same as yours...everything at the same place...starting arnd 5pm...traditional ceremony (including fire), followed by ROM, and then reception...we r still planning...who is ur MUA? I still haven found the one for myself and am extremely stressed...need someone who can do the changeover from traditional to modern fast...am thinking of taking Malini but her trial already $80 for one look...getting my gown frm the photoshoot studio for free...haven decided if I wanna wear a lengha for my ROM...stress stress!!!

Sen_Pooh: Can I be a busybody :P and enquire about your traditional ceremony. How long will yours take? I was having a headache planning the programme but we finally opted to have the traditional ceremony at 6.30pm and the guests will start eating at 8pm.

As for MUA dear, though the trials are a bit pricey, it is advisable that you do try them out. My MUA and outfits is from Saheli. *Disclaimer: I am not affiliated to them* My cousins have all engaged Saheli during their wedding and they looked great, therefore based on that, I went with Saheli. I also did pay for a trial and I liked that she listened to what I wanted. I have 2 make up changes and I also rented a couple outfit for the traditional ceremony (*I must admit that I got them at a steal (*when she was having her promo)). I am a realist but at the same time I am not devoid of any emotions. I decided to forgo buying the wedding lengha only because it would end up being a white elephant in my cupboard. I am getting a reception outfit instead which I feel makes more sense, as I will be able to reuse it again and again :P

Sen_Pooh: Welcome and congrats! Are you looking at an outdoor or indoor shoot? I did an outdoor shoot in SG (places that meant something to us) with my photographer, Keshav. I used my on outfits and got Sung as the MUA and i totally loved the shots! If you are looking for bridal studios, would you consider studios in JB like Venus, Fables etc?

I did my engagement+ROM together and it was abit hectic with 2 saree changes and 1 gown change which included change of makeup and hair. But we were only about 30 mins over run, which was not too bad. My MUA, Harni Ananthy was a star! She got me in and out of the outfits and changed my hair and makeup so fast!

I am now 193 days away from my traditional wedding!! I still havent chosen my cards - Thank god the outfits are all settled from my trip to India!

Hope ya'll have a good week ahead!

Rajni_Ram: Haha all of us r busybodies! We r going to see the priest this Friday to find out how long our ceremony is going to be...hopefully can finish by 7pm...will update u...I still have my ROM for 1st march in...2nd march in cake cutting and dinner...For MUA, anyone tried Sung dolly or Looks studio? My henna is most probably going to be Saheli but am still sourcing out for cheaper but quality ones.

Am a south indian bride to be by the way...

semisweet: Thankew dear! I have aready confirmed bliss bridal creations for my pre-wedding photoshoot...going down next week to choose gowns...thanks.

All the best in ur preps ladies!

Sen Pooh: U got email? I don't think its nice to broadcast the rates that the henna artist have. I have collated an excel spreadsheet of henna rates offered by various artist and I managed to find one with affordable rates...heee..I can send you my collated list :)

Hi BTBs..:p
