Indian wedding Services in Singapore

i believe holiday inn CC also has a tandoor restaurant so the variety of food, generally is the same, possibly different tastes bt menu wise its pretty general.

Hi PamB, yeah i just got the prices for 2012..$95++ for the Indian menu! Yeah ive been for my friend's ROM at City Centre but I would like to have some element of an outdoor-sy feel. Sigh so hard man!

Hi PamB and Jun! My wedding is over too! So happy to be married. A little sad that the wedding planning is over though. I had so much fun planning! =)

Jun > congrats!!! =) I am sure you made a lovely bride.

Sumi > Burkill hall is really pretty. It was one of my shortlisted venues for my ROM. however due to parking/wet weather constraints, we changed the venue. But the venue is truly beautiful! So long as u are not holding the event during the rainy months, u'd have a lovely time!

Hey Jessica, glad to know all went well...relish & enjoy ur time now ...no more planningggggggg
happy.gif
)))

Hey guys just wanna check any recommended bridal studios for photo shoot?

Jessica: Congrats!! I do agree planning is fun (painful at times!) but fun! Yeah i REALLY wanna have it at Burkhill..Just have to bring both sets of parents down to take a look and we should have a venue!
happy.gif

Hi madhot, I am thinking of engaging these guys --> captured moments , but you can't really view their work online. so drop them an email. They have filmed a few indian weddings before and the videos seem fine. Not expensive too

Hi! Anyone interested in buying pre-loved wedding lehngas and men's sherwani suit at reduced pricing? Worn once only for wedding day. Lehngas are heavily embroidered. Will be a waste if no one else can make use of the clothes! Will send you more details if interested.

Hi all.. if ur looking for a venue for ur ROM or Wedding. This is he best place. MIRCHI!!! i just did my Solemnization there.. fantastic food with posh ambiance. The marketing lady called Veron went beyond my expectation. everything was planned by her. Very very personalize service and she's just magic! This is her no.. 8514 0948. I promised that i'll recommend more people after my wedding.. she's the best in town for now. Check it out.

hi gals, any suggestions for traditional wedding make up artist? i went for vijeya's trial and although it was fashionable etc, it was quite loud and cakey. goin for susie's trial soon. how is spa alangkar?

also looking for recommendations for vegetarian caterers.. gokul, komala vilas, mayuri etc? the temple wedding caterer is cfmed komala vilas..i just need veg caterer for bangle ceremony.
happy.gif

Hi bagthatdeal, MUA wise, you can try Ananthy (Harni Ananthy on FB).

Vegetarian caterers - Im quite partial to Anandha Bavan. But i think they are pricier than the others.

Which temple are you holding your wedding at?

2012 and 2013 BTBs! Where is everyone? Time to revive this board.

Anyways, quick update on my situation. Decided to have the ROM and Indian engagement at Grassroots coz the guest list was getting too long for a small intimate event. So venue settled!

I also purchased my wedding gown from La Vi*a Brides (Replace * with a t)! *Super excited* Its a custom fit dress and I cant wait to get it in April
happy.gif

Now we just have to settle the deco, get the groom's outfits, my traditional outfit, party favours etc.

Hi all, glad the board is somehow coming back alive!

Sumi : great news that you're slowly settling everything! Congrats

Well for me, only the temple is booked so far, and my MUA. I am getting selvarani for my traditional wedding, she's really good in terms of saree and hair! Her makeup is OK but not wow amazing but I think that's ok, as the accessories will tend to take e limelight away from the make-up.For engagement and stuff like bangle ceremony, I am thinking of Sungstar.

I'm still in a dilemma if I shd have a wedding dinner or not..we will be getting our house soon and a TON of money needs to be spent on the reno and the COV for the flat. Might just combine the traditional engagement and ROM together instead.

My photographers/videographers for all my events are from Renatus - managed to get a reasonable package from them. I am also getting an additional photographer Darren Francis for the temple ceremony.

So far, that's all that I have settled on - still need to do deco, both our outfits, party favours, invites, engagement venue, catering and so much more! FAINTS.

Kala: What are your dates like? For the engagement and temple ceremony?

Sung is amazing also (I know her personally and she's done my makeup countless times
happy.gif
).

And I know rite..No matter how much I think Ive settled stuff, there's like 1233261 other things which need to be settled as well!

My temple ceremony is on the 30th of Nov. Engagement date is yet to be fixed but shd be either in June or July. It's a little tricky as my uncle passed away last year so we had to hold off any major formal preps such as "talking with the in-laws" till the 1 year mourning period was over..which was just yday..so besides the actual wedding date, nothing much has been fixed..

Kala: Hi Kala.. feel free to call me if you are looking for venue for engagement. I have few venues to choose from ranging from Western to North Indian Food. Let me know if you are keen.
This is my no: 8239 3477

Kala: Oh wow! June or July is really soon! Especially if you're looking to combine your ROM dinner with engagement! Hope you're able to have the 'talk' with the in-laws soon and make a decision
happy.gif

Also I felt so good ticking off 2 more things off my to-do list this week..Photographer and bartender! Phew! My task for the weekend has been shortlisting invite designs - Pretty much sick of going through countless pages by now!

Happy rest of the weekend ladies!

Hi all,

Update : we have set the engagement date to be 7/7. Will be combining the ROM together with it. Thinking of having it in a chalet like changi cottage or sth. Not too sure if it's a good idea - any comments?

Now the attention is shifted to catering - where's everyone getting their food from?

U gals r all v v gd with d timelines.. Keep it up!
happy.gif

bagthatdeal: Yay! Good on you for settling MUA and caterers.
happy.gif

Kala: How many ppl are you inviting for the ROM and engagement? I know of a few friends who had their ROM at Fairy Point chalet but encountered lots of problems with the event staff from Fairy Point, onsite at the event. You should check around first!

Kala: My ROM and engagement is in October and we're gonna have about 150-200. Tried to keep it small but the number of immediate family on my fiance's side is just too big!!

Updates on my side:

Will be going to select caterers for the ROM and engagement this weekend - Most probably Gayatris. Another to do is to meet with the deco folks!

Also just found out this week that Perumal Temple mandabam is undegoing renovations from June 2013 - Which means my 1st choice mandabam is not gonna be available for the Dec traditional wedding

To Shaila: Hi, I tried contacting both the above numbers quoted: 8239 3477 or 8514 0948, but was unable to reach on any of them. I need a wedding planner for a hindu style wedding here in singapore. Have some important queries on what all gets covered by you as a wedding planner and what would be the cost estimate for an average wedding arrangements. Thanks!

Hi Abhi, so sorry.. i was away for the weekend. Just came back to Singapore this morning. U can contact me anytime from now on my both numbers. I'll be more than happy to assist you with.

Hi ladies,
I'm a newbie here. i am planning for my traditional wedding somewhere late this yr or next yr. Hope to get some good advices n share my experiences as well.

Hello Ladies <3.
Thank you for all the information provided in the forum. I am pretty new to this. My projected wedding date is somwhere btwn Oct - Dec 2013.
I would like to know if there are any indian brides hosting their wedding at OCC? Do they allow for the indian traditional ceremony to be held there in the ballroom (considering the presence of the fire pot)? We are also planning to translate the rites to English and this will be projected somewhere *hopefull (fingers crossed). Any advice or feedback ?

Hi ladies! How's the prep coming along?

Finally settled on our decorator yest - going with Pandora Tomorrow! Their service was excellent unlike a certain other popular deco company that NEVER came back with a quotation after meeting us, despite us chasing twice. Hmph!

Now we just have to settle on our caterers and I can breathe!

Hi all!

Well on my side..we have decided to do our engagement cum ROM at NUSS Guild House @ Kent Ridge. So venue and caterers settled for that! YAYY! Went down to the JB outlet of AVALON and purchased a very pretty lengha saree..

For MUA, I am deciding between Hush Lush and Sungstar..I have tried both and happy with both their make-up. But HL comes with hair and are cheaper..if I take Sungstar, I got to source around for hairstylists..any recommendations?

For the wedding, it's NO WHERE near done. Besides the venue (Tank Rd)and MUA (selvarani) nothing else confirmed.. sigh..

Hey Sumi, do you mind sharing your quotation? I am also sick and tired of looking for decorators. Will Pandora be able to do modern deco? Cuz that's what I am going for the ROM and then more traditional for the wedding.

Kala: Yay for settling your venue and caterers! And oooo lengha saree! Im looking for one for my photoshoot as well. Where is AVALON?

I believe Sung will engage her own hairstylist if you decide to get both makeup and hair with her.

And Pandora's work is quite nice. Vanan is very accomodating and gave us lots of new ideas. He quoted us $2600 for the works including a canopy for the reg table, backdrop, ROM table, centre archway for the ROM area, table cloths, chair cover, centrepieces, fairy lights, etc. Make an appt with him and he will show you all his latest designs and will even show you the actual material he uses coz his warehouse is just next to his office.

Sumi : They have a facebook page just type Avalon or you can go to their website www.avalonsarees.com But it's better if you go to the shop directly to see the stuff..the address in on the page itself..they have a store in JB and one more in KL..

Ok maybe i'll contact pandora tmr.. 2600 is quite a reasonable quote! I met up with Sountra*x but I must say that I am not pleased with their professionalism (or lack of). Late for meeting, not replying SMS, delay in sending of quotation. Their deco is really nice, but i don't think I can handle heart attacks when I can't contact them nearer to my wedding..

Kala: Hahah OMG they were the decorators i was talking abt in my previous post! I was seriously so pissed off with them. Met them and he was not forthcoming with his ideas, just let us flip through his ipad and then promised to send a quotation in the next 3 days. Its been almost a mth and nothing despite us chasing him with SMSes. Seriously unprofessional!

Will definately check out Avalon! Thanks!

Ohmygosh so coincidental! Guess it's not just me then..they sent me quotation after like 1.5 months! and that is after I sent weekly SMSes..dunno who the customer is..sigh..

Anyway ladies, any recommendations for DJs (must be able to spin happening Eng/Tamil/Hindi songs)and veg caterers?

Hey BTB -Kala.... I know a DJ who does a gd job and reliable service. His name is Nantha. Saw him spinning in some weddings too. He did mine as well.. ROM & Trad wedding :-)
Btw, To all lovely brides 'Happy planning!' :-)

Hello,
My partner and I live away from Singapore at the moment and will be signing the legal documents overseas. We intend to return to Singapore later this year to hold a small wedding dinner for my relatives (and a separate event for friends). I know my relatives would appreciate a South Indian meal the most, but I don't think just walking into Komala Vilas would do it. I've been away for too long and would really appreciate any pointers on a restaurant with a nice setting, where I could reserve some space for the event. We're looking at probably about 60 - 100 people (my mum has yet to confirm).
Many thanks for your help!

Hi there MDL.

I am sharing information that I have just begun to gather. I am also a newbie. If you are looking for a small scale memorable event, you might want to try Orchid Country Club. They have outsourced F&B Gayathri's to cater to their Indian clientele. If you are looking at North Indian Cuisine, then from my knowledge, Holiday Inn has a nice restaurant called the Tandoor North Cuisine. I hope this info helps.

Happy planning

Hi MDL, would you be open to catering South Indian food and having your event at a venue like a country club etc? Most restaurants in Singapore will be able to cater to your event size but not sure if you would require elements like a stage, DJ etc?

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies. I thought it would show up in my email inbox, but the replies did not get sent there.
Thanks for the tip on the Orchid Country Club - we were looking at Serangoon Gardens Country Club as my family lives nearby. Any experience with that place? Seems they use Mayura for Indian catering.
Anyway, we are looking at holding two events - one smaller one at a restaurant for relatives, and we are booking a space for friends.
It's for the relatives bit that I am looking for a South Indian restaurant. There's no need for a stage or so - just a place that can be reserved for the diners.
Thanks for your help!

Hi ALL~

Helita - Yeah eventually I signed up with DJeneration, and there's one Nantha under them, also came highly recommended by my friends. I was initially going for DJ Sathiya (cuz everyone and their grandmother was recommending him) but he is already booked so he said he will send either DJ Raj or Nantha. I hope they're both just as good! My sis knows DJ Sathiya so we got quite a good deal!

Hey MDL congrats! Welcome to the BTB club! Well I haven't been to any indian weddings at both the country clubs but if stage is not a requirement, and you need just a venue for eating, you should just try restaurants to save on $$$. There's this one restuarant opp Perumal temple which has its' own (quite large) function hall..I haven't tried the food there before but you can always have a tasting..It's called Naya Chand. Otherwise there's this quite nice restaurant at Peninsular Plaza called Masala Art. I attended an ROM there before - quite nice ambiance and food not too bad. Also can try those normal restaurants along Race Course Rd like Anjappars, Gayathri's, Muthu's curry etc.

On my side, I have just settled my DJ and also getting a dessert buffet table for my ROM. Meeting Pandora Tomorrow's ppl on Monday and in the midst of getting all the clothes + accessories done. Hope to settle all of that by end of next week. I am going with Hush Lush for hair + make-up [Sung is not free!
sad.gif
] and my photog/videog is also settled with Renatus photographer..invites have aleady been designed by my bestie, will be sending it for printing by this week.

Feel so relieved ticking things off one by one.. for now I just have to settle my deco, food selection and invites before I can breathe easy for a bit.

Happy planning everyone!

Yups Sumi
happy.gif
Yay for the thread picking up, the group support is very much needed for Indian brides to be.
MDL - You can try Samy's Restaurant which is located at Dempsey (I have never tried it personally, so you may need to get others to fill you in on that)
Oh ya just to share, guys you might wanna consider Garden by the Bay for your venue.

Kala: Yay for getting things done! Which vendor are you getting for the dessert table? I just discovered one on FB - Sara's Desserts but will prob keep that for the wedding dinner next year instead of the ROM this year.

MDL: I second Masala Art. Its quite nice!

Rajini: Gardens By The Bay is beautiful! My company might be doing a few events there leading up to the opening. But i think rental is abit steep
sad.gif

On my end, I finalised my invite copy this week and my SIL will be sending it on to the printers. I still dun have a caterer! Gayatri's was bad and Sakuthala's was so so only. Sigh! Ive been so busy with work this week and didnt get much planning done. #badBTB

Hi all!

Sumi : oh it's her too! I know her through my sister. But sadly, my venue doesn't allow any external food (just checked yday) and so I will have to push it to my temple wedding at the end of the year. Am getting the venue's caterer to do up the dessert table instead.

Rajini : Yes i was initially going for the Gardens but they quoted me $200 per pax! Just for food and venue, not incl logistics. FAINT.

I have just finalised my invites, and will be sending for printing tmr. Going to use the weekend for all the slottings into envelopes etc.

Kala: Totally agree, I wrote to them for a quotation of about 250 guest and they quoted me $150++. I gotta admit the view is fantastic!

Sumi: Did you get the printing done in Singapore or overseas?

Just out of curiousity, any brides to be having the traditional indian wedding not in the temple?
