Any of started looking for wedding favors to give away to your guests?

Hi BTBs,

Have not posted anything for a longgggg time. Getting married in three months. 28 Jun 09.

Just my two cents' worth: HIPV is a good place and it is reasonably priced. But you got to watch out for the pillars that stick out from nowhere. The food is so-so, although many have claimed that it is fantabulous. But the wedding coordinator, Vasanthi, is a gem.

Luv,

Bhav

Hey Lydia, Welcome to the club...

Which are the MUA that you have approached so far?

There are a couple that you can try:

1) Menaka
2) Spa Alankaara
3) Susie's house of beauty
4) Bubbly (You can check out Look Book at www.singaporeindianbrides.com)
5) Saheli

These are some of those that I know...

Hope this helps

SaraLash: i would consider booking for my honeymoon only after seeing hw much me n my FH have to spend on the wedding..
In fact during the NATAS fair prices could be bit cheaper and also they throw in some gifts and etc..
I stayed in a private villa in Ubud..it was a one night stay n Bali is beautiful so do go there if u are considering SEA...i highly recommend it..

Hi Lydia

I heard that Emerald beauties used to do bridal make up previously but I am not too sure if they are still doing it. But I have not heard many brides or brides-to-be talk about them though.

Hey Twisted bride,

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I'm actually looking to read up more on Guna's work as well. My in-laws are leaning towards his works because of recommendations from their friends, would help to see some of his work before we decide. I'll give you a shoutout should i come across anything. Hope you can do the same. E-mail is [email protected].

Cheers,

Hi Guys,

Anyone know of any indian entertainment companies which can provide deejays and emcees. Does Nasha1 do for indian wedding dinners?any other contacts to provide?

vani: I heard that the Singapore Chinese chamber of commerce has done a couple of indian weddings. there is a stage for the manavarai setup. You can try chevrons and orchid country club as well. But I'm not sure if Chevrons allows the fire and stuff.

my temple ceremony was over on the 28th of march and dinner on the 4/4/09. this forum has helped me loads and i hope the following helps someone out there.

temple-tank road (spacious and gave free use of tent since they put it up for event on the next day)

temple decor and music-bliss central(beautiful decor.didn't manage the sound systme and guests were sitting in the quiet for quite a while)

temple food-gokul(some of the popular items ran out and wasn't topped up but kudos to the hot food from plenty of live frying)

temple makeup and hair and sari tying and fake jewelery-shoba (kinda whiny bout tying for so many other people but did the job anyway)

temple car-weddingcars.sg (asked for blue ribbons and they put white. still awaiting explanation but driver was patient)

temple saris-continental and jewel palace (everyone loved both my saris)

temple photography-keshav sishta (patient but pricey OT charges)

temple videography-steven foo (no problems at all. creepy lookin fella but good work)

you can add me on msn [email protected] if you want further info. I'll give u guys details on my dinner reception later.

Hi BTBs,

How have you been? Think you guys are the newer batch of brides that I have seen on this website in a year. I was carefully following thru the advice from the earlier (mow married) batch of brides. But you guys are equally interesting!

Just my two cents' worth after reading your posts:

- When you go for make up trial, they tend to do you up in lighter tones, less powder and foundation. But on the actual day, they up that volume by at least three times. I had one such experience with an MUA discussed here in this forum during my ROM. When i did the trial, I thought it was quite nice. But on the A.D, it was waaaay toooo much. People did not recognise me. When i saw my photos, I was white on the face and dark from neck down (from this, i think u can tell i am dark-skinned person). So when you go for the make-up trial, tell the MUA to stick closely to the way you would look like on the A.D.

- Your MUA should tie the saree for you. Dun waste money getting an extra person to do it. Not only is it costly, it is too much of a hassle, because your saree-tying helper will be waiting for your MUA to finish and vice versa, and you know at these wedding events, time is very, very important.

Hope this helps!

Hi Bhav,

Will you be able to share with us which MUA you chose finally? And which MUA you are referring to in your msg?

It will be really helpful for us.

Thanks

Hi Guys,

To follow up, I went for my trial. I wasn't too happy with it. The liquid foundation and powder used made me look way darker. I expressed my concerns but the MUA insisted that it's ok. I also am the kind who does not wear too much makeup, just pressed powder and I felt the makeup looked really heavy. The MUA said that that amount of makeup is necessary for it to show on fotos. I felt pressured, cuz b4 I went for my trial, I kinda made up my mind that I wanted to settle on this particular bridal from what I've read and seen. So I paid the deposit..now am not too sure...
I know I know..big lesson for me... for all u guys out there who have not booked your bridal...think about it first
sad.gif

I'm really confused and would appreciate your thoughts on this. I have seen some pics where pple look too white cuz of the foundation. But somehow, alot of bridal fotos, even though there's alot of makeup...dun have this issue...so I'm not sure if it's cuz of the type of camera used and if it's the digital ones that end up making the faces look white.

I just want to look the way I am usually...maybe just that extra touch with the eye makeup and blusher that brings out your features...so is it really neccessary to have alot of foundation..I'm not too keen on mentioning the bridal I went for guys...don't want to offend anyone...

hi pple,

to my knowledge, its not always necessary for a mua to tie the saree unless its stated in the package when you engage her.as for my cousins weddings, the mua brght in someone to tie saree ofcoz prior arrangements were made & that was separate cost.normally the charges ranges from $50-$100 depending the styles you want or no of times you require.
When you meet up with your mua, tell her your specifications clearly and note down what she agreed to do for you.its better NOT to assume she'll tie saree for you on the actual day as not all mua's will know how to,then you'll be in trouble.

Preethi10- i feel bad for you.but call up your mua immediately and tell her sternly that you are not too happy with your trial.tell her you must be satisfied & not her! you are paying it for it dear so you 've got the rights to speak up.if she said that the amt was necessary for photos, then what work is left for the photo editors??? pls dont spoil your mood on your ad,tell her right away.it'll be gd if you can share with all of us here who is your mua so we wont go through the same thing.maybe a li'lll hint will be great too.

Bhav- regards to your bad experience, its gd that you share your experince,it'll better if you can tell us ladies here who is the mua so we can be aware of 'her' too.as i mentioned earlier, a li'll hint will be great!

come to my question, does anyone know how singapore chinese chambers looks like? any pics of it to share? ;P

Hi AK,

TDragon and Focal Ad Marketing are pretty popular. But heard good and bad comments abt TDragon's service. As for price, think Focal Ad's looks pretty ok. You can get their contacts from the singapore brides directory under 'printers'.
