Husband has affair overseas

well i dun think i have the fix-it solution, can only point out some personal obstacles which are sorta making things more difficult for yourself to walk lighter...

u're quite similar to a buddy of mine, she's also very strong-willed and capable... thinks ahead of pple most times. she n me are very similar, only differing gender... thank goodness cupid didn't try to matchmake us cos it'd be a disaster! been with her thru some relationship journeys... honestly i dun think she can be the women tat men won't feel threatened around, nor the woman who can follow a man's lead if he isn't a natural great leader... we sorta concluded tat she should just be herself and let the men who are not intimidated step forward...

in exploring, have u ever thought tat perhaps the only thing in common would be the kid? whereas becos of the similarities in ego and perhaps some differences in thought-processing, tat u guys aren't a good match to begin with?

look, i'm not here to discourage u nor breakup a marriage... i'm just very certain tat if u keep looking deeper and exploring yourself in a rounded aspect, tat the next step would all come to u. i dun think u can stop being u... and i dun think u'll be happy being the wifey-u... u can be the motherly-u, no problem... but the role tat's draining u - would be the forgiving/wifey/docile u... perhaps u stop trying so hard to be tat woman, cos it's obviously not working... as it is - in this thread, u realise u seem to have a split personality and very contradicting?

benefit of a doubt - tat's not the real u. sometimes it's scary when we look at ourself from outside our body... we might not recognise who we've become.

it's hard to be ignorant when u're blessed with wisdom... it's hard to be stupid when u can see thru the facades... sometimes, most times - we just gotta be who we are, even if it means an end to what we've achieved... i dun see u being a happy wife, neither do i think he'd be a very fulfilled husband. perhaps the marriage worked due to the distance... but beyond the distance, u two have lived very much as Individuals...

in any relationship, the whole mentality about waiting for the other to take the initiative is childish. i.e. putting personal pride as your priority and not the relationship nor logic.

For any relationship to work, you need to look beyond whose fault it is and see rather what you want. The battle over who is more right or wrong is petty and foolish. We are not talking about pillow fights here but the entire marriage at stake. And you are still playing the waiting game?

i think powder hit the bull's eye.
This is precisely our case. We had a chat yest and seems that he's having some crisis at work and needs some time to sort it out. Well, i could give him time, but i did tell him son and i will not be waiting for him forever. I have done whatever i can to reach out to him and seems that we really have diff opinions abt marriage.. hahaha... a bit failing to finally admit it after 6 years... well, i guess he married the docile and naive fresh grad but never did he expect me to become such a strong-willed person. Honestly, i myself changed a lot thru these few years..we fell madly in love then, but seems that his love for me is overshadowed by fear... what should i do? Quit my job and stay home? Actually now that there's a restructuring in my co's mgt. I could propose to be posted to another branch in his country... but then, i will have child-care issues; and also i'd be loaded with an even more hectic work shedule... so it seems to be that at this very moment, there's really no way out.

hi maybe...

its really a chicken and egg situation. When wife is working, many guys worried of their partners 'over-powering' them making their ego feel lousy.

I'm worrying the opposite. I fear the pressure of being the sole bread winner. Also, the transition from career woman to housewife is big. And often end up resenting the husband and causing friction in the marriage.

yes... and i believe... for my character... i'd go bonkers if i have to resign and do nuthing and reside in a foreign country!
it's not just abt the $. i am considering if i should be making the sacrifice to give up my career and i dun like to ask for $ from my hb.

one thing u might like to consider...

live as individuals, be parents... he be a father to your child, u be a mother to your child. u have no expectations of him as a husband, lesser ideal-expectations of him as a father.

might be the way to go for now... if flames revive, then good. else dun let the roles be confused...

so do we live together or apart?
he's staying at his aunt's but would like to move back soon.
then would it be alright if wither party starts seeing someone else or are we still bound by marriage vows?

for tat it's entirely up to u guys... in case of such option, u'll have to explore the emotional and psychological effects on the kid (why daddy mummy sleeping separately), and each other (if u guys start dating again and bring partners home)... can tell u it's Not Easy cos have frens who share this arrangement. without a kid is pretty hard as it is liao...

it's just a glimpse though... personally i believe we're all capable of being amicable if we want.

hope u can move forward and explore your options... let go of the negative feelings that hound u and let it just merge into your life, instead of rejecting it... i personally find that the key to moving forward, is to accept that bad things has happened, can happen, and will keep happening.... then shrug our shoulders and say "Yes it happened, but i still wanna choose to be happy"...
