This home that i am staying in is under the name of my mother and brother. when i was young, my parents divorce and brother took over the share of my father at the price that my father first bought. Taking the role of big brother he swore that he will not sell this house away.
But recently, they have plans to settle down to start a family. His Girlfriend's family insisted that this house is to be sold for a new one and at the same time not wanting my mother and i to stay in the house.
Than again i think greed took the better of him, at first he plans to sell the house and just give a small portion of money to my mother and leave her alone. We argured over this issue so badly.
I have checked, that on legal terms, once the house is sold, both parties will receive the amount of cpf they have contributed and the remaining profit is of equal share.
However, he isisted that after both parties receive the cpf amount, he will only give my mother a small part of money (a few thousand) and leaving no room for discussion.
His actions really disgust me, in my point of view the profit should be shared so that my mother can take care of her retirement in a few years time.
Is there any way that this matter be handled by a lawyer? So that he will not have any way of taking advantage of the whole situation.
Or when the cheque from HDB is released, is it possible for it to be of separate name instead of joint name?
