Hi Serene,

My banquet is Early feb 07. I'll be meeting with my new sales manager next week to arrange some other stuff... perhaps i'll arrange for the food tasting as well

How soon before the wedding should the food tasting be done huh?

hi assirac,
i tink a good rule-of-thumb would be 1 month before ur actual day lor...

Heard lots of raves about HIPV crystal ballroom. My AD will be in 2008 so I was wondering if I should sign up now or wait till the bridal show?

Think if u can afford to wait, shld wait for their bridal show.. coz usually have more perks, etc.. But not sure if they will increase their prices before the bridal show though..

hi all,

Phoned HIPV today and found out that Shue is no longer there!

Btw, is anyone holding their banquet on 1st July at the Crystal Ballroom? I may have to bring forward my wedding by a few weeks. Sigh.

to fifi- just back from honeymoon..not sure if my reply is too late...normally 1 barrel abt 90 glasses of beer

to izzleong- food not bad..service is good by the latest coordiantor Vanitha...very easy going and accomodating

to anyone wanting to take up HIPV- my coordiantor changes 3 times...eventually got the latest one, vanitha...not abd..but they are really bust...quite hard for them to call u....

heard from Gosh they have 30 weddings in this month....Gosh is my nadquet coordiantor but he got posted to the indian restuarant at Basement 1..so mine is his last wedding...very organised and systematic and can make the couple feel calm...cos he is a joker....good la..but now new banquet coordiantor dont know who.,...so far no complaint abt Vasanthi....can gif her 8 upon 10 for promptness and service....

the hotel side forgot to give me back my audio cds on the wedding day..so one tip is to get someone (preferably a friend) to get it back once the wedding dinner ends

brightstar

to fifi- i have 18 tables...with 1 reserve but not used on tt day...

1 barrel of beer and 24 bottles of wine
as for the hotel side, they will advise u tt they will stop once a barrel is finished...normally to help couples save cost, they wont open another barrel..but they will inform u..

what they will tell the guests is "would u wan wine instead?"

brightstar -- That's nice of the hotel to help you keep track of beer consumption. Heh...

My FMIL wants me to bring forward the AD to 1st July. Originally booked the ballroom for 29 July.
sad.gif
I can't book the ballroom now because there's this couple who still can't decide. Worse still, their coordinator keep calling them today (as my coordinator told me) but they just didn't answer!

Feel very stressed as i can't confirm my AD now and everything is hanging in limbo. Won't pick the 1st July if i could but no choice...no more auspicious dates for us & in-laws are SUPER pantang.

Everyone keep your fingers crossed for me ok? If not FH says forfeit deposit & just book another hotel!

to prise - yup..actually was surprised by HIPV banquet coordinator that he says help us save money...tot hotel is always out to squeezze every penny out of u

good luck to you..hope u get what u wan!

Its good to hear that the banquet manager is so nice. Cos wedding is really a big expenditure & the less we spend, the more savings we will have left for the journey ahead. The wedding is just the start lor.

brightstar

to fifi- yah..just in case ur banquet manager didn't mention abt the beer, let him know how u wan ur show to be run...tell him to inform ur coordinator once half of the barrel is used up...and if u dont wan the 2nd barrel of beer, let him know too and tell him to serve wine instead...

Hi everyone,

Just to update...FH & i are sticking to original plan & date. *phew* He managed to convince his parents that every FS master will calculate different dates. I'm so relieved now.

Can concentrate on planning my ROM. Yay.

Hi Brighstar,

With 18 tables, can I presume that you are using the orchid ballroom instead of the crystal ballroom? Cos I also have 18 tables so was told only to use the orchid ballroom. So how is the orchid ballroom ?? Is it very crowded with 18 tables? Thanks.

brightstar

New Member
to drizzlestar- not really crowded...enuff space for bride to move ard quite comfortably in her wedding gown.

crystal theme looks marvellous with the lights dim..my guests love it too....

Hi all,

I just had my wedding dinner at HIPV on 26 Dec. Had 11 tables (+ 1 reserve) at the Orchid Room and both my hubby and I are so so happy with the event.

We had Krystal as the banquet sales person (she was the one who took over Shue; the 3rd person who handled our account ever since Pauline left). She was very good and prompt in her replies to our queries. Our Ops person that day was Mr Murali and he was very efficient too.

To give a general brief, our friend handled our alcohol consumption that day (we decided to control it ourselves) and in total, we consumed 1 barrel of beer and 8 1/2 bottles of wine. Everyone raved about the food and the service. If you are interested, I can post the dishes I had for the dinner to help in your selection. hehe. All the dishes we had received good feedback from immediate family members and guests. In addition, the service staff there was very attentive. During our first walk-in, my dress got caught on the steps on the way up the stage and the staff were quick to help put my dress out of the way of my feet so that I could get up.

The hotel service apart from the dinner was fantastic too. Eg: our friend is a Vanilla Coke lover and we decided to get that drink for him. We told the hotel and they tried to source for him. In the end, they managed to get 2 cans for us and they were the last 2 cans in the entire hotel. We were impressed.

Hi Christina,

So great to hear that you have a great wedding.
happy.gif
I do hope mine will be as successful as yours. So if you dun mind care to share the list of dishes? btw, does the hotel provided free car parking for the wedding couple during the next two night of staying in the hotel after the AD? BTW, how is the payment made? Is it directly after the wedding? Thanks.

Hi Babystarlet & drizzlestars,

Just got back from my honeymoon last night. Went on a short trip to Bukit Tinggi (Colmar Tropicale).
happy.gif

These are what I had for the dinner:

Cold Dish: Drunken Chicken, Japanese Octopus, Prawn Salad, Pacific Clams, Spring Rolls

Soup: Shark's Fin with Crabmeat and Dried Scallops
(Originally was Fish Maw but the Maw didn't turn out nice during the food tasting, so the chef recommended we change to Dried Scallops...that was very yummy in the end)

Meat: Crispy Pi Pa Duck

Veg: Braised Double kind of Mushroom with Chinese Spinach

Prawns: Drunken Live Prawns with Chinese wine and herbs

Fish: Sea Bass steamed Teochew style

Noodles: Braised E-fu noodles

Dessert: Chilled Sweet Corn with Water Chestnut

For the wedding car, we parked in front of the hotel and it's free. We had friends who stayed at the hotel too and apart from the complimentary carparking on the AD, they obtained complimentary carpark coupons from the hotel for the duration of their stay too.

Payment for the dinner is made after the dinner. Our Ops Manager met us at the Bridal suite after the dinner is over and all the guests have gone home. He went through the bill with us, after which we proceed to the front desk to make our payment.

Payment for room stay is payable upon checkout.

Hi brightstar, I don't have a blog but my hubby and I have a website. URL is: http://leonchris.bravehost.com

We have yet to put up photos of our AD though. My AD photographers told us it would take about 3 weeks to pass us the photos. Will load those as well as what we took at Colmar Tropicale when the pics are ready.

hi christina,

nice to hear that u are very happy on your wedding day.

i saw from the s'pore bride "dining dining" column that min no. of table is 25 for HIPV. u had 11 tables in orchid room? can u email me their wedding package for orchid room if u have it? may i also know what's the max. capacity for it?

i am looking at around 10 to 12 tables for my wedding dinner in early 08. have to start sourcing for restaurants and hotels now. so difficult to find restaurants and hotels that can fully occupy whole banquet room for small wedding dinner.

looking forward to see your AD and your honeymoon pics.

Hi viv&bl,

I know what you mean as I wanted an intimate dinner for family too and was sourcing around.

Min tables for Orchid Room is 10 tables
Max is 20 tables

Min tables for Crystal Ballroom is 25 tables
Max is 40 tables

I do not have the package in email form as I requested for their package and they sent to me via snail mail (that was like a year ago).

You can call the hotel and look for Krystal Lye (she's the one who helped me). You may get a better package as hotels always improve their packages through the years.

hi christina,

thanks for your fast response. now i have one more choice for wedding banquet and the min 10 to max 20 tables will be perfect. cos i don't think we will exceed 15 tables.

i think it will be better that my bf and me go down to get more details on wedding package in orchid room. cos it seems that most couples in this thread are holding or had held in crystal room.

Hi Christina,

Thanks for your feedback, great that you have a smooth and wonderful wedding. I do hope that mine will be turn out to be nice too. :p

Actually, how many nights are you staying after your dinner?? I was thinking if the payment can be extend to next day afternoon instead when we are at our clearer mind else sure very blur loh since after a full day of event. BTW, is there any hidden cost within the payment. As based on their package stated it should be nett price but I am worry that they might have other payment that we not aware of. Thanks for your help again

to christina, can i add ur website to my wedding blog?

to drizzlestar: yes, payment can be settled upon check out on the next day after noon.
It is the nett price....no hidden charge unless you take anything from the bar in the hotel room plus phonecalls made from the rooms.

Hi viv&bl, yup, it would be good to have a look. My suggestion is to make an appt first. Then the hotel can make arrangements to open the Orchid Room for you to have a look. After that, you can go through their package. Oh yes, for the theme, I chose Crystal and it was lovely, very romantic.
happy.gif

Hi drizzlestars, from my experience, there were no hidden charges. The dinner is nett so nothing extra unless you have extra wine and beer which you opened during the dinner. Room is also as per what brightstar said, you pay if you use the extras. I had an extra room for my friends and they ate Mars Bars and have Coke. So had to pay for those.
happy.gif

Brightstar, sure! you can add me to your blog. I went to have a look at yr blog the other day. Very nice. And guess what? You and I share the same ROM date but just that mine was in 2003.

to viv& bl -to add on what Christina said...it would even be good to go down ona day when u can see a real wedding going on....i did that...so we went on 2 separate days...one to see the room when it is empty...the other when there is a real wedding

Hi all...

May i know roughly when i should expect my coordinator to call me for preparations? My AD is on 29 July. Quite curious cos i haven't heard from them since i signed the contract last year in July.

Can someone tell me what to expect from the hotel side?

Hi brightstar,

Thanks! It's all in the makeup.
happy.gif
I like the photos you took too. Actually was thinking of using yr bridal shop but after looking at my budget, decided not to.

Hi Pris, I think yr next contact with yr coordinator would be to collect yr invites for printing (you can collect 4 mths prior so that you've time for print). For that you can make the first move in contacting yr coordinator.

After that, the next contact should be about 2 mths - 1 mth before when you need to try yr food tasting and after that, confirm yr theme, tables etc etc.
